• Resident Evil Megathread: COMPLETE GLOBAL SATURATION!

as much I love Resident Evil, I don't understand the recent surge in popularity and acclaim the Outbreak series has received, it had a lot of cool ideas and the design/visuals of the game are pretty great for a PS2 gen title, but the actual game-play I felt just never worked out very well and it's just such a grind to bore through today. Also living in the UK we got the awful PAL copies that had no online and even more terrible load times.
I was fine with the no respawning because it was difficult to die anyway in outbreak. And the time limiy wasn't an issue since the levels never took that long to beat. I really liked how it did co-op, aside from the people that chose yoko and rushed through the level by themselves. I wish they would revisit the series and polish it up.
Even a Mercenaries/Raid mode variant that had co-op, limited supplies, and focused on players completing objectives or stages together rather than just kills/time would be neat. Instead they misinterpreted the fans and put in forced co-op in an awkward fashion in the main campaigns of 5 and 6, and leave the extra modes to solely slaughter chaos. Raid Mode kinda had some levels work in a progressional matter, but it was still all about blowing monsters apart.
You can start preloading on PC now
I was afraid this was going to be another one of those "55GB install size because: reasons" games. 24gb is sorta fair.
Having the game preloaded has only made the wait worse, this was a terrible mistake.

The game's still larger than Resident Evil 6, but for something that's inherently a generation past that game in terms of consoles, it makes sense.
One thing is certain about Outbreak, it had a great main theme
So, uh, why are the herbs in RE everywhere? One of the early games makes it clear that they only exist in the Arklay mountains, no where else. I get that Umbrella could have spread them around as a product, but even way further on where anything Umbrella touched would have been frowned upon by basically everyone ever, do they still show up places? Or, you know, in underground caverns

Reviews are going up here and there for RE7.
I can understand the hate on outbreak while playing solo although that can be the same with L4D or any other game focused on Co-op. I recently have been playing outbreak with a few friends as we navigate blind and die multiple times while attempting to solve puzzles, It's so damn fun though. Outbreak is the weirdest jank
I was fine with the no respawning because it was difficult to die anyway in outbreak.
Tell THAT to Very Hard mode in the following places : The beginning of Wild Things End of the Road Showdown 3 Elimination Decisions, Decisions The hospital in Flashback Especially the one in bold. Fuck that place. [editline]21st January 2017[/editline] Oh yeah, and speaking of Outbreak, I suggest linking to this website in the OP. http://obsrv.org/ The multiplayer is still alive.
Let me give you some advice. Never use the pipes when the frogs are out. Also, [sp]there are two ways into the sewer : The manhole outside the elevator, or you can go through the sharks and get to the other manhole, which leads to the other side of those pipes. You need to either send someone across the pipes BEFORE the frogs break out, OR have someone dodge the sharks to get to the other side.[/sp]
Did you use an emulator for this? It seems oddly smooth for emulation, if so.
I emulated Outbreak myself and it was really smooth from my experience.
Reviews are going up here and there for RE7.
would it kill you to link some of them lol this is all I've found so far: http://pureplaystation.com/review-resident-evil-7-ps4psvr/2017/01/ kinda spoilery first image in the article tho 9.0/10 score, so off to a good start. Japanese magazine Famitsu apparently also gave it all 9's as well, and said it takes around 15 hours to beat, but that review came out like 4 days ago so that's nothing new.
would it kill you to link some of them lol
Sorry about that, I forget that even if people google things, it can be a pain sometimes depending on site obscurity. Pure Playstation does have their small criticisms, but yeah, 9s off the bat show people are really liking it so far.
Anyone know of all the weapons we can get? Seems like there's going to be more of a focus on melee.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/2kZKd2N.jpg[/t] It's 1 a.m. and I can't stop making these
Teaser image for the upcoming free DLC. Also, major spoilers. https://i.imgur.com/lwvJTTX.png This will make a lot of sense once you beat the game.
I sure hope that's [sp]Hunk[/sp]
I sure hope that's [sp]Hunk[/sp]
Story spoiler, potentially even an ending spoiler from a random screenshot I saw: [sp]he calls himself Redfield, though I'm not sure if he's Chris or not.[/sp]
if the pc copy is leaked, do people know if theres a hidden vr switch anywhere i know that the demo was datamined to hell and back so there should be something like that somewhere right
great....[sp]let's add even more relatives to the RE universe[/sp]
I wouldn't go by famitsu's reviews on anything, they're always incredibly generous to big name titles RE6 got 39/40 if I remember correctly. Also RE7 spoilers - [sp]I'm willing to bet nu-Umbrella's main goals is to tarnish everything STARS, BSAA & Terrasave worked towards as well as their reputation. Hunk essentially pulling a Venom Snake and taking his identity, (maybe Chris is in hiding? Captivity?) I'm just trying to assure myself that it's absolutely NOT Chris, I know we've jumped a generation of consoles, but you can't just redesign a character's looks completely based on that.[/sp]
I can't find anything on RE7 spreading around at the moment unfortunately, so I can't say if what I posted was accurate. It's the equivalent of 'big rumor with no proof' unless I catch that screenshot again by chance.
