I can't believe they're doing this...
why does everything have to rip-off CS:GO

Player markets are pretty much a self sustainable income now, don't be surprised if more and more games include it and are retro-fitted to support it.
more like why does every game need to take mechanics from early 2000s f2p korean fps games?
$$$
Literally, that's it.
If Battlefield Heroes taught us anything, shedding a little bit of your community and potentially gutting the integrity of your game (I am in no way saying that KF2's system is this extreme), with micro-transactions done (business wise) right, will net you a whole fucking lot of money.
So what can you get from drops?
Crates as well as cosmetics?
So what can you get from drops?

Anything, except rarity ~~6~~ skins which can only come from crates.
There is no information on how any of the drops will be weighted. Could be 99/1 of Crates/Other, or it could be a fair system.
oh yeah no doubt
but people will probably just ignore this shit and keep buying into it because eh its not that bad
when 5 years ago people would have been 100% against it
People were outraged with Payday 2 because the developer was already really scummy prior and then they decided to tack actual in-game bonuses onto the system.
All the hooting and hollering finally got Overkill to issue an apology and a "we'll fix it", but absolutely no hard-line promises of actually removing it or how it will be fixed. They know damn well that all they need to do is weather the storm and they can come out of it mostly unscathed when people find some other issue to be angry about.
Personally, I'm really sick of seeing these dumb fucking markets/drop systems. But, I dropped Payday 2 long before it hit (see: shit devs), dropped TF2 years and years ago, and never touched CS:GO. It's mostly because the more you sit around the system, the more you realize that sum of what it sees you as is a dumb living wallet and is eagerly waiting your funbucks for virtual goods.
I'm upset with the horse-shit drop/crate deal because there is no fucking need for it. The game isn't even out yet! They haven't had a major update in a really long time, I mean what the hell
More money-grubbing tactics in their unfinished game. What the fuck happened to Tripwire?
Gotta pump out that cash somehow!
Again, I've been very sour with Tripwire ever since Red Orchestra 2, and I am more and more in the right as time goes on with KF2

this kinda shit is slowly becoming an industry standard.
First thing first.
Drop the price to $15.
Give early adopters and DD buyers an exclusive skin or something.
Release a fucking update.
Stop being such bitches about balancing your game.
Stop acting as if these "free" updates are something you're being nice about.
COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR FANBASE.
Oh for fuck sake the battle scarred shit made it in. I give up.
Oh for fuck sake the battle scarred shit made it in. I give up.
Some skins look better in those qualities, I even made the rusted sg500 skin with wear in mind.
At least it's only 3 tiers.
I remember being so excited for this game.
So much hype. So much hope.
And then they're pulling this shit.
I've not touched this game in weeks
And I thought that they couldn't go worse than selling unique weapons in DLCs...
Good lord, of all of the things, why? Now I'm truly regretting buying this game. It really hurts to see it suffering on this state.
I personally don't have an issue with this in concept, or in KF2 but when they're clearly drawing their already skeleton crew away from other important stuff to make this I feel a bit annoyed.
Game is uninstalled and I am never touching TWI stuff again. I can already feel like this is another Overkill stuff which thankfully I didn't feel much of since I quit that game a year before it all went down. But this is different since I was actually invested into Killing Floor 2 :(
The issue with these skin drops is that they divide the player base. You might not think they do, but it does, really badly too.
It plays on your emotions of "wow that guy has something cooler than I do". The game then gives you the "random" drop cycle, and will go "Awww shoot, you didn't get what you wanted, but if you pay $2.50 you can try again!"
That's why it's gross to see "unboxing" videos on youtube with guys getting 10-15 of the same skin that's worth upwards of $10 or more because they "didn't get the one they wanted". It sucks money out of people who are desperate or want attention, and it just increases the risk for account hijacking. It acts exactly like a casino/slot place, it teases you with rewards that you don't earn but you have to pay for.
And it takes away from the game. CS:GO doesn't need updates because its balancing has been set in stone since 1.6. KF2 needs updates because it's a pitifully repetitive game. It needs to be freshened up with gameplay, not cosmetics.
What hurts the most is the phrase that "it will help fund events and further (free) updates". That's a bad thing to see because either Tripwire is going under, or that they will only have the motivation to continue updating the game if they get lots of money from something that isn't even worth it.
They try to compare it to earlier DLC, but it's not the same as that. The older DLCs worked because they came in packs and were $4-5 at a time. More or less forcing people to pay money to unlock crates is counter intuitive and will drive people away from the game.
It's really, really sad. It doesn't anger me anymore, but it makes me sad.

"Early Access done right!"
Seems like a bad joke now. Didn't even get all the perks done before adding micro-transaction RNG crate shit.
I would hope that because of this, they won't sell dlc weapon 'side grades' but I'm being optimistic :v:
Rust also made skins in early and no one whined. I don't uderstand why people are so upset about skins. I don't care as they doesn't affect gameplay, plus it's a good thing for modders.
Seriously relax, it's not the same thing as Payday 2.
This would have made sense if the game had launched and had been out a year... DLC for a fucking game that isn't even near completion... TWI you're disgusting. Absolutely fucking disgusting.

yes but at least in rust you can buy the cosmetic directly without this shitty rng case system
it's another piece of content locked behind a paywall
What kind of content ? Skins ? You need them to play ?
What kind of content ? Skins ? You need them to play ?
no but they will be pushing sidegrade weapons through this shitty system
In the future we may be adding weapons with new gameplay for sale, but this will appear in the “Shared Content” area on the server.

no but they will be pushing sidegrade weapons through this shitty system
Yeah but in the "shared content" means if a player drop one of those weapons, he'll share it with the rest of the players on the server ? If that's the case I'm not against. If not... I'll change my opinion.
Yeah, they need to fuck off if they're going to be adding gameplay weapons to the store. I could care less about skins/hats in KF because showing off in a 6 player PvE game is dumb.
Yeah but in the "shared content" means if a player drop one of those weapons, he'll share it with the rest of the players on the server ? If that's the case I'm not against. If not... I'll change my opinion.
*Everyone in the server can buy that weapon from the TRADER
so are you ok with the whole trend of taking out extra content that would traditionally be free in a pre-2007 game because of modern microtransaction trends?
wasn't it great how in mgs5 you didn't get the tuxedo costume at the end and now it's just a paid dlc
He's ok with it since looking at his profile he has made rust items which one of them is accepted

I made a skin on Rust, and I'm making money from this, so yes, I'm OK with this. I'm against DLC like maps or skins with stats boost, but I have no problem about paying for a skin if I really want it. (Even if atm, I never paid for a skin)
But you know... I was OK with this before having an item in game.
lol
Clever.
