No but Portal 2 was a finished fucking product. Also the Portal 2 store was a gigantic failure because it was pointless microtransactions for a mode where a single other player could see them.
All of this is going to blow over within a month and we'll all go back to complaining about updates being slow. This isn't a PD2-type situation, where the devs went back on a promise made earlier; it's just bog-standard cosmetics. Remember how Portal 2 was ruined the day it came out because it had cosmetics you could purchase?
I can't believe what Valve have been thinking... to add a store to Portal 2. The store didn't look bad... It's Valve pricing logic ruined it. [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/559780497146668408/20357AAE252DE439AE8D6620635E0C4F157CF057/[/t] 4,99$ for a SKIN. [t]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/eNOBUZE1YOE/maxresdefault.jpg[/t] 1,99$ for a TAUNT. Kinda reasonable. Look at Icarus. Prices are reasonable and cheap.
I'd give my left foot to get StarForge refunded.
I would almost pay money to Steam directly so that I could refund Starbound from Chucklefucks' wallet.
Ethics aside, as long as it's just cosmetics, I can deal with it. I was kinda looking forward to being able to support specific content creators though, not gamble on it.
being able to support specific content creators though, not gamble on it.
I know that if the prices aren't egregious, I'm supporting that guy here who made the red Zed-theme'd weapons because holy fuck, I feel sorry that absolute shoveled garbage got accepted alongside them.

Like that mask, Jesus Fucking Christ that mask is atrociously bad.

I thought that you had to get items through rng drops or crates. The FAQ page won't load for me.
Wait, can you just purchase whichever item you want? I thought that you had to get items through rng drops or crates. The FAQ page won't load for me.
There isn't solid information. Only that "Rarity 6" weapons will be locked in crates and won't be dropped or purchasable. I might assume some middle-of-the-road weapon skins would be available for purchase, both with weapons and character gear.
If I can buy an item that directly supports the creator, and not some rando dude that got it from a crate, that's fine by me.
When Portal 2 was first released, people utterly lost their shit over their being microstransactions in the game, from a flood of angry posts on forums like Facepunch about how Valve ruined the game to Portal 2 being spammed with reviews giving it 1 out of 10 on Metacritic because of the hat store. A month later, not a peep from anyone about it. Ultimately, the game still won several awards and is still beloved by gamers.
If I can buy an item that directly supports the creator, and not some rando dude that got it from a crate, that's fine by me.
nope. the only way you can buy a specific item is through the steam market. they're planning on having both case-only skins as well as drop-only skins.

It was finished product. It had content to repel bad reviews... but the store idea was just terrible. Valve pricing kills everything. [editline]24th November 2015[/editline]
nope. the only way you can buy a specific item is through the steam market.
He meant a Store in the game like TF2 where buying an item support maker. But store does not exists in KF2.
A month later, not a peep from anyone about it. Ultimately, the game still won several awards and is still beloved by gamers.
Ultimately the entire thing was majorly abandoned and it's skeletal foundation was left in-place, largely ignored. It was also, purely, cosmetic. And a stupid design from the start - microtransactions in a two-player cooperative game.
dota 2 was and still is an unfinished game, and has cosmetics out the ass. not to mention it has valve pricing.

Imagine Left 4 Dead 3 with crates and store...
There needs to be gamble aware adverts in these games IMO They need to enforce it similar to how gambling is. The UK has gamble aware adverts and so on. This had the ability to get a younger audience addicted to gambling without knowing. Of they're going to have it - fucking regulate it. I'm exaggerating but CS:GO, DOTA and TF2 need it as well.
nope. the only way you can buy a specific item is through the steam market. they're planning on having both case-only skins as well as drop-only skins.
So TWI are trying to be all business and "professional" like Valve, but they still can't develop a game faster than modders can.
So TWI are trying to be all business and "professional" like Valve, but they still can't develop a game faster than modders can.
I've seen assets pumped out faster by a single guy on Polycount in a week that twi has done in 2 months.
So TWI are trying to be all business and "professional" like Valve, but they still can't develop a game faster than modders can.
Devs are too scared to try something new or something unique. They'll follow Giant and make similar steps. Too bad most of the time It's FUCKING IDENTICAL. I just hope Warframe will never implement crates.
It's just disappointing because they had a good system going with the character packs in KF1. I don't see why they couldn't have just extended that model out to weapon skins and accessory cosmetics.
Devs are too scared to try something new or something unique. They'll follow Giant and make similar steps. Too bad most of the time It's FUCKING IDENTICAL. I just hope Warframe will never implement crates.
Warframe has enough RNG and grinding as is without crates.
dota 2 was and still is an unfinished game, and has cosmetics out the ass. not to mention it has valve pricing.
what
To be fair, I'm glad I don't have to buy a bundle of 4 characters when I realistically only want 1 or 2.
I would only use like 1 character out of a pack for maybe a week, but I still liked to buy them because it wasn't a shitty way to support the developer and TWI was a better company back then.
Nice to see Tripwire has their priorities in order. I mean, I wouldn't mind them doing this if the game was near completion, but we're talking about a game that goes months on end without simple bug fixes and balance patches.

Early Access games with microtransactions. Games industry sure is becoming a fucking parody of itself.
