How do you strategize for an end boss when you don’t know who it is?”
The same. Just shoot it? I don't see why they're trying to make it seem like a big new thing. It feels like the bosses are pretty similar. They run away, they come and attack you. One shoots you with a gun, one shoots you with a rocket. I feel like it very underwhelming compared to how they're trying to hype it up.
Compared to the old one that was just a guy with a gun???? It's not like the original Patriarch was some revolutionary inspirational design, it was just a fairly normal dude with a gun and weird chest burster. Couple Flesh tenrils too, it's not like he was that amazing to look at.
I disagree. [t]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/l_gUhdWWc8E/maxresdefault.jpg[/t] He looks mutated enough that you know he's a zed, while still being human enough that you realize he's special, this is also reinforced trough his lines. Small touches like him having a mustache and a pair of glasses added to him retaining his consciousness throughout his mutation, he also mentions doing research in some of his voice lines. But I guess tripwire had a change of heart and they gave the scientist personality and humane appearance to hans, and went with a more brutish appearance for the patriarch, which sucks.
i'm really interested in his new mortar tho it seems that it will make his rocket launcher more menacing than "one in the pipe" *miss*
I haven't really been following the story of KF2, is it supposed to be the same Patriarch from the first game? If it is, I just wish they gave him his sweet mustache and long hair.

But the Patriarch-Killer loadouts could be completely different.

I think he looks fine. I mean yeah, I liked the silly design, but mainly because it always looked really silly and not that threatening at all. Pretty sure I called him zombie Jesus more than I called him the Patriarch.
There's still hope [sp]for the nipple piercings[/sp]
Yeah the original patriarch was way better but this one is a welcome addition I might consider getting the gme now that its in offer, even with the whole microtransaction deal going on
I think he looks fine.
The random green bumps look way out of place and the entire thing looks more set for a Resident Evil game or something. On the other hand, it helps to remember that it's not Kevin anymore (canonically. I guess? Who knows.) It just winds up looking less like a researcher's self-experimentation gone wrong and more like a "generic mild sci-fi big bad mutation guy." And Much More! [sp]As in not really anything else, but I swear we've been doing /something/ with the roughly $10,000,000 we made on raw sales.[/sp]
I'm not sold on the design, but the in-game shots look really scary. Sound can make or break this design.
as in not really anything else
Calling you out on this, they're overhauling the zed audio to have more character iirc.
Calling you out on this, they're overhauling the zed audio to have more character iirc.
Fair point, I forgot about that. Is it actually slated for this update? As much as that was stupid shit slinging, I'm still eager to see the update. My opinion of Tripwire's tanked purely on their actions and speculation thereof, but that doesn't mean the update won't be fun.

Slightly underwhelming reveal for Patty: The Revengening, I was expecting to see his glorious return in some sort of teaser video by Tripwire, not just an article where 'he's in the game now lol'. Still, seems like the update's closer than ever, looking forward to seeing it (i swear if one in the pipe didnt survive hrfjgi)
One thing i have a small issue with, and it's probably nitpicking, but bug fixes and improvements shouldn't ever be listed as "features" like they're blessing us by fixing their problems.
So how is the "mortar" going to work if he's inside a building? I'm a little worried about this boss considering how long it took for them to change hanz.
Not really a fan of his new design, looks too much like a generic 'hulk mutation prank gone wrong (gone sexual)' to me. Also, why do I have a gut feeling that they'll completely butcher Gunslinger's ammo, especially for the Zed Collector and the Deagle?
Gotta like the "unlock by subscribing to the KF2 game group on steam" because if you talk anything negative and get banned from the KF2 community you can kiss bye bye all stuff that is locked behind that system.
The design doesn't bother me so much as the character they put it on. They could have made this another boss and not called it the Patriarch but hey, we haven't heard audio. If he says the right things this could be the result of him completely losing it ( or getting pissed that he kept getting fucked up )

Just like "wow he's gone off the deep end since the end of KF1"
Also god I hope that glowing green stuff doesn't change color to indicate how many syringes he's used
Also god I hope that glowing green stuff doesn't change color to indicate how many syringes he's used
why
I actually like the design. This is supposed to be the Patriarch after he escaped in the end of the first game, and continued to do experiments, right? It makes sense he'd look more warped. I kinda wish he had his hair and 'stache though.
why
Because he's got 3 big ass needles on his left leg. His old ones were a little more subtle but now it's like he's got horse testosterone and if that thing changes color it's just gonna be stupid If we're lucky maybe we might get an early build to play on like the IncNDet update. Still a bad taste that PCGamer is getting the update before us..

I just hope they venture away from the 90% damage mitigation bullshit that Hans has. In KF1, with some team coordination, you could kill the Patriarch before he even had a chance to heal. In KF2 good fucking luck trying to kill Hans before he heals. There's no room for rewarding smart teamplay.

There's no room for rewarding smart teamplay.
We've been fighting things constantly without knowing fuck all about it's health aside from subtle queues like a half destroyed skull or blood on it, or a Commando calling out it's health. We've fought patty before under the same circumstances and everything worked out fine. Why do we need it now? Hans is a good reason because he actually has phases so you can't afford not to know what's happening, but for patty he would groan loud as fuck, leave a remnant of a syringe, and have one off his leg. I get that it's pandering to the general but not everything needs an indicator. Make the syringes glow if you insist or pop the cysts but please don't make it change color
With how hectic and visually noisy a KF2 boss-fight is, I want all the indicators I have regarding how much health a boss has left.
So Patriarch went on the Mars to get his upgrades? He starts to look like Cyber-Demon. Killing Floor 2 will not be in my steam Library.
