PC Gamer's playing the update before us again. I don't even know what to add after that phrase.
It's kinda surreal in a sense that it's both in development and early access, but the patches and new content are treated like this is a completed, triple-A game and is being tested entirely in-house. And that we have news articles for "exclusive early access hands-on to an upcoming update to an early access game."
Looks like something straight out of Quake, I love it. It needs the hair and moustache though, otherwise he's pretty great.
They should release a new version for $30, and call it Early Early Access Access.

How do they keep fucking this up? Did people complaining not even touch them?
Well half of the images disappeared from my OP, and I can't figure out why. I'll remake them soon.

- Still calling it "content packs"
- The patriarch looks _terrible_
he looks like the charger dude from left 4 dead, a zombie/monster.
the old patty had a good design, clearly a human that has been messed up by body modifications and whatever crazy scientist nonsense, but he still looks human.
Also "unlock this character by joining the KF2 community on steam"? Omfg, Tripwire really is Overkill in disguise
Why are people complaining? You have to deal with some slight annoyance (and by that i mean the occasional steam pop up that says a new patch is out) in return for a character skin. However it's free and effortless.
Many games make you like their Facebook page, follow them on Twitter or whatever other social media thing for a bonus. It's completely harmless and a good way to promote their game.
man he must've masturbated too much to have arms that big
so the same as kf1?
tbh in kf1 he had a very distinct pattern. When you fill him with lead he gets on one knee then runs away to heal, he will never cloak then attack again without healing. I'm guessing in kf2 he won't have this pattern and may decide to attack again without healing
man he must've masturbated too much to have arms that big
Well he's clearly not getting any with that face.
Hey. I noticed something.
"Trading Floor store " - steam market or actual in the game?

The very first Q/A in the FAQ.
Is Patty's only weak spot going to be his head? At least with Hans you can shoot his backpack when he isn't facing you.

Because it's a grubby way of boosting their numbers and making themselves look better while simultaneously being able to ban you from the group for criticism or whatnot and lock you away from that content forever.

Not really, who looks at the official steam group as a measurement for how active a game is? Also it's possible that it just checks if you're in the group once and then you have the content forever. With Facebook/Twitter follow promotions you can simply remove your follow after you get the bonus. I doubt they need to check every single game launch if you're in the group or not.

I mean seriously does it really bother you that much to join a steam group of a game you like to play?

Some of us actually see the parallel with Payday 2 that started off with really innocent group tie-ins, and eventually had a slew of cosmetics and weapons on the system as well.
It is just as bad in spirit, not actuality, as making you join a Facebook group or something for in-game content. The difference here is, you already have a Steam account and they have the power (not that they'll exercise it) to ban you from the content for your conduct. It's kinda slimy and I think we'd all rather the new character just be added to the game straight-up.
I can sort of see the parallel with Payday 2 but it's not bad in spirit at all. It's a cosmetic for free. If it was like "Unlock Sharpshooter if you like us on Facebook" then yeah. But it's an optional cosmetic in a pool of other cosmetics. You'll probably even forget you're in the group until a new patch hits and a steam pop up comes up on your screen for 2 seconds every now and then.

It's bad in theory.

Regardless, it's jumping through hoops to get gated off content that can be taken from you at the whim of the community moderators if you decide to be active in it. Even if you don't, you'll get bombarded with event notifications a la Payday 2's group. It's a minor annoyance but an unnecessary annoyance none the less and again, Payday 2 started doing that too and like Doom said, it's hard to not draw parallels between what happened with Payday 2 and what's happening and could happen with Killing Floor 2.
Not to mention, myself and a lot of other players check out the community pages to see how active it is. Nobody wants to buy a dead game, so forcing people to join equals more people seeing it's active equals more sales.
Call it paranoia, but Tripwire has already shot themselves in the foot and they're already going down a dark and grubby path, i don't want to see them kneecap themselves like Overkill has.

It's a promotion, in return you get something for no cost. However the effort to do so is effortless.
Also getting banned for voicing your opinion on the forums is a very small group of people. Out of all the things to be negative about, I think this is easily the least significant if not a non-issue.
It's highly likely you can just leave the group once you get the skin too. We'll have to see.
Disregard my previous post, anyone know who voiced Patriarch? Is it one of the devs?

KF1's Patty was voiced by zYnthetic, Dan Nassick

Yes, so you keep repeating. But again, regardless of being however effortless, it's obnoxious and isn't necessary. If i wanted to join the steam group, i'd do it, i shouldn't be forced to for something. But yeah, we'll have to see if you can bail after getting it, i dunno how that'd all work.

how dare they have incentive for something completely effortless and harmless
Yes, so you keep repeating. But again, regardless of being however effortless, it's obnoxious and isn't necessary.
It's not obnoxious. You get a tiny notification once per week, big deal. (That's assuming you're even online to receive the message)
You're not forced into it. You can just not join and not get the skin? It's not even a new weapon or feature, it's just a free cosmetic. It's a totally optional and does not impact your game play whether you get the skin or not.
It is not greedy/grubby/unethical, it's a perfectly valid way to get people to accept promotional material.
I swear that 90% of you that are upset are incapable of seeing things as anything but black or white.
"They put in microtransactions! Therefore everything they do is now evil and money grubbing!"
So was this just released or is it next week?
Or any time soon?
Also what the geriatric lice ridden fuck did they do to the patriarch

microtransactions aren't the big deal. it's exactly as uesokay said: the game isn't even complete. you don't just cop out and say you're going to be adding in microtransactions when your game isn't even done. if the game was out of early access it'd be no big deal
i'm not sure if they just admitted that they're adding microtransactions for after when the game is fully developed or if they're just going to slap it in early access, but i'm pretty sure everyone thinks it's the ladder since i'm pretty sure it hasn't been confirmed otherwise. if it is the ladder then they've pretty much lost all touch with their community
games like pd2 and csgo can get away with the crate system because people keep coming back because those games are constantly being updated
kf2 gets like two updates a year and they're not even worthwhile

Let me update my statement.
"They haven't updated the game yet! Everything they do is evil and I hate them"
what does that say about your company's intentions when you can't be bothered to add new content that should be in your game to begin with but instead you're more preoccupied with making a crate system so people can buy skins and models that were made BY community members and are free to download on the workshop
what did they do for the last few months to contribute to their game that wasn't made by hobbyists who don't work for the company who didn't see a cent for something you know TWI make bucoup money off of

I swear to the Emperor's desiccated, rotten, worm-tantalizing corpse if I see this argument again I'm going to take an envelope, shit in it, label it "Your Post" and fucking mail it to the person that used it.
This system was implemented by back-end devs who had NOTHING else to do.
Now familiarize yourself with the following:
