isn't it great how pcgamer always gets updates a few weeks ahead of early access players
isn't it great how these systems never benefit the consumer in a non-f2p setting
They probably sent PCgamer a build of the update to showcase what players can look forward to. I doubt they're ready to send it out yet because they want to iron out the bugs that way they don't have an even bigger backlash because "EVIL TRIPWIRE SENT OUT HALFASSED UPDATE PROOF THEY'RE SHILLOUTS, THANKS TRIPCASINO."
what is cs:go
also
"They haven't updated the game yet! Everything they do is evil and I hate them"

I swear to the Emperor's desiccated, rotten, worm-tantalizing corpse if I see this argument again I'm going to take an envelope, shit in it, label it "Your Post" and fucking mail it to the person that used it.
This system was implemented by back-end devs who had NOTHING else to do.
Now familiarize yourself with the following:

remember when bethesda set up skyrim so mod creators could charge users to buy their mods? remember how long that lasted? less than a week? this is exactly the same thing as that, and they're ballsy enough to introduce it long before their game came out. who cares if it was made by "back-end devs." where's the REAL updates
that's exactly what's going on here except the difference is the mod creators aren't making a dime and they were never told that TWI would charge people money to buy their shit. I was never told when my gun skins got accepted, but I'm not making a big stink about it since I made skins for a gun that wasn't created by myself. however I'd be utterly pissed if I made a hat or something from scratch and discovered TWI were going to make a profit off of it without even being notified that they were going to make money off of me
content creators made shit for kf2 with the idea that it was going to be under the FAIR USE act. you might want to look that up since you clearly have the most misguided judgment out there
except people are literally begging for broken content, it is the point of early access, people praise ark: survival whatever because it does exactly this
csgo doesn't benefit from the cashshop, the comp scene prize pool raised with the profits does
and even then it doesn't really benefit the average player aside from minor balance changes, most of the maps would have been made regardless of an incentive
also i'd make the argument that a game with a base price of 15 dollars that goes on sale for half that and even lower fairly often is slightly more justified in having a cashshop, but still not really justified
You're deluded if you think that shipping out a broken update would please the community. If they're ACTUALLY begging for broken content, then they're deluded, too. There's a massive difference between janky silly gameplay, and genuinely broken mechanics.

Stay on subject, that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

it's hardly off-topic. where's the content updates
let's unveil a new boss monster. yeah, that'll slow down the community backlash for our scummy sales tactics. meanwhile we'll never see christmas updates or halloween updates. or god forbid a new official map in the next coming months
the game has the bare minimum in terms of content and instead of showcasing what they've been working on they just decide to happily flaunt that they have no qualms with taking your money for shit they don't even own
heres a thought, they could just use the handy dandy beta feature on steam, they did it for the last update, dont see how they couldnt do it for this one
if its too broken and interrupts a player's experience too much, they can switch off the beta, if someone wants to experience the new content in spite of bugs/crashing, they can switch onto the beta
its a win win
That's an ideal situation. Starbound has something similar.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your gripe you mentioned in retort was "They're shilling players that created content for them out of proper reparations." What bearing does that have on my point?
What the fuck kind of name is Oisten Jaegerhorn :v:

because instead of updating their game they'd rather just sucker idiots like you in to buying cosmetic items because they know they don't need to actually finish their game when they can just cash shop whore the everliving shit out of it ala the war z and all of the 30 spinoffs made by the same developer
oh. but wait. you're already on to the asinine marketing ploy so you won't buy jack shit. you'll just continue blindly defending them even though you don't even play the game
it all boils down to development/content updates. that's all i'm going to talk about. when you're a 70 man team working on one game it's not hard to make content, let alone showcase it. if even 30 of them are texture artists, modelers, animators and mappers they could be shitting out maps left and right but instead we see absolutely nothing

First of all, it's cute you think I'm going to spend money on cosmetics, and that you think I'm blindly defending them. If you've paid attention, I've actively said that I disagree with the implementation of the system, but that it's not the end of the world.
Yeah, they might've suckered people out of their work and that makes them shitty people, but it's not directly relevant to the development of the game.
Also you are right, this idiot is going to continue playing the game. I enjoy the game for what it is, and look forward to what it could be when it's complete.
It's funny how whenever there's a situation going on there's always one of "those guys" who come out and start spewing out strawmen while completely blocking out and dismissing legitimate concerns people have. People have brought up points, I don't see how this has anything to do with "oh Tripwire is an evil money-grubbing company that never cared about the game and wants to screw the customer as much as possible".
Of course they have a certain degree enthusiasm about their game but you can't blame people for not agreeing to their perception of EA either, and their development process is at the very least in a gray area. They've done several mistakes before so I find it kinda funny how yet another person would disregard that and pop in here while going "Tripwire has been making perfectly reasonable decisions the entire time and their content updates have been acceptable, but if you disagree with my mindset I'll belittle you and unleash my strawmen".
Gotta like the "unlock by subscribing to the KF2 game group on steam" because if you talk anything negative and get banned from the KF2 community you can kiss bye bye all stuff that is locked behind that system.
That's exactly why you don't use the Steam discussions at all. Just stick to here or reddit, it's not worth it man.
Wait just a second here.

It begins?
Look at this game from different perspective. A perspective of a new user.
Do we REALLY need micro transaction in form of crates or tickets that Valve have been doing in TF2?
I say no. This "update" makes me consider accepting DLCs as a part of tiny/huge update sold separately.
Game like Witcher 3 is a good example

but why ruin it by making him a big stupid monster mash face with a prosthetic knee
Can't wait to try out Gunslinger and the new maps and weapons. Really don't mind the zedconomy thing. As long as theres no more buzzsaw bows or flare revolvers. But KF1 was still fun even with there being better weapons behind paywalls though so it's not like I'll stop playing just because of that. I've heard of some people uninstalling right now because of zedconomy.

It's completely fine if you're okay with it, but I don't understand how you can't see why other people are upset that their 1/3 finished game is already getting microtransactions.

Because we have a new character, a new perk, 2 new maps, 6 weapons, a new boss, and various bug fixes/improvements on the way with it, isn't this what people wanted? We finally get some content and the only thing we can see is this optional cosmetic skin system for Tripwire to make an extra buck to fund development. I see people saying this a mere money-grubbing scheme for Tripwire to make a quick buck... Yes? That's exactly what it is. They are a company, they exist to maximize revenue. More money for them means more development for us.
That new Patriarch is fucking huge. Makes me wonder if he went to the same gym as Scrake.

I imagine it's ultimately more about the presentation and the future implementation of it
Honestly I don't want another Zweihander making its way into this system as a sidegrade
Also 6 weapons is a bit bullshit, as 5 of them alone are Gunslinger's own arsenal (knife and grenade included)

I agree about the sidegrades, I'd rather them not lock different gameplay behind a paywall even with their shared content system as justification. While it ensures nobody in the same lobby is ever at a disadvantage, if nobody has the weapon then suddenly the whole lobby is at a disadvantage compared to other lobbies. If they're going to force consistency across a singular lobby, then they should enforce consistency across all lobbies and just make the alternate weapon part of the core selection. I'm totally fine with weapon skins and whatnot, but any change in stats or functionality is not a good idea.
I'm totally fine with weapon skins and whatnot, but any change in stats or functionality is not a good idea.
That's exactly my concern.
They are not above it (see current and past examples) so I hope it doesn't get out of hand in the future
How much do you guys wanna bet that the "six new weapons" will be basically nothing?
Like the gunslingers weapons and that's it.
Wait, if the microtransactions are entirely cosmetic how come sidegrade weapons are available only from microtransactions where did that come from
How much do you guys wanna bet that the "six new weapons" will be basically nothing?

I don't think Gunslinger's weapons would be nothing...

five of them are gunslinger weapons (3 handguns + knife + nades)
five of them are gunslinger weapons (3 handguns + knife + nades)
It's 4 guns (2 revolvers, 2 handguns) plus the knife and nades.
also "basically nothing, like the gunslinger weps" lol.
It'd be fair game if the knifes weren't identical in use (and rarely used) to call them new weapons, but they're really kinda not imo. Nades is a little more fair, but still a cheap shot since for most purposes, the three, soon to be four, HE/Frag Grenades in the game are used for about the same purpose. Dynamite has a slightly different gameplay bit since you can perk it to detonate on contact, or abuse it's much longer fuse.
