If you played through the objective mode version of transit, they reveal a little bit about him. For the sake of people that haven't played it, I'll spoiler tag the info below.
If you don't want the story line spoiled or if you haven't finished KFO-Transit, don't reveal the spoiler. Otherwise go right ahead.
[sp]Okay so during the events of Transit you end up working with Rachel Clamely, the patriarchs daughter. She guides you through a train station to an underground lab where you end up having to fight 2 patriarchs at a time. It's at that point that it's revealed that players have been killing mass produced clones of the real Kevin Clamely. So the real Patriarch has been several steps ahead of us I guess. Anyway after you kill them you end up hopping on a train to follow the real Kevin Clamely to Paris which is where KF1 leaves off and where KF2 picks up.[/sp]
Wait wait wait. There's Killing Floor lore? I need to know more.

lmao is this how they call updates to an EA title now? free content packs? how nice of them
So is now a bad time to get into kf2?

Since we finally got confirmation of what's gonna be in the next update, it's probably a great time.

we had this discussion two months ago.

There's a decent bit of lore. I'm not sure how much they have kept or what they have retconned or thrown out, but I'll give a rundown I guess.
I'm not sure if it would count as a spoiler, but I'll tag it just in case.
[sp]So Kevin Clamely was the original CEO and founder of Horzine. Horzine got contracted by the government to try and create the perfect soldier. This went on through several projects which led to the creation of the various specimens you fight throughout the games. Because of the failure of the projects they were ordered to shut down, but they never really did.[/sp]
[sp]So his scientists eventually start leaving and Kevin feared that his scientists would reveal the work they were doing. So he ordered them to take the most advanced tech they had and implant them into him. Then he went through the gene enhancement that all the specimens went through, except he turned all the safeties off. How the specimens got out differs in both the mod and game version, but the end result is the same. The players then fight it out throughout London and the surrounding areas against the specimens. Meanwhile the Patriarch is going around and setting up various cloning labs and turning them on. After the events of KF1 we end up in Europe. This time though Horzine hires various survivors from London and other volunteers to fight against the specimens and basically perform damage control.[/sp]
That's pretty much the basics of it so far. They have a bit more stuff over on the KF wiki explaining more on the various specimens and stuff like that.
I'll leave a link here for anyone that wants it. It has info on the various maps, the specimens, and the various characters as well.

When I think about zombie/infected/apocalypse universes I think Killing Floor's would be the worst/most terrifying to be in. Like, left 4 dead zombies are a little scary but for the most part just avoid the witch and tank and you should be fine. Fucking killing floor on the other hand would mean running for my life against chainsaw wielding fuckers and a flesh pound who will just grind you to death, if I came up upon one in real life I would just choose the easy way out.
Maybe not, military forces still exist in the KF world and Zeds can't infect others. They have to be cloned so Horzine needs funds and resources to continue their production. Most of the Zeds can be taken down by conventional firearms. Fleshpounds could be a problem but they too can be killed with Rockets or other explosives.

Seeing as zeds can somehow pinpoint your location no matter where you are and will actively come after you until either you or it are dead, I would agree.
I imagine keeping Zeds back would be a lot easier with mounted weapons.

If Evacuation Point is anything to go by it doesn't do jack shit
So is now a bad time to get into kf2?
hold on to your money until the full release when all content that should be in the game is in the game.
anybody buying into it right now only shows tripwire that what they're doing is the right thing.
most of the zeds firepower comes from fleshpounds and husks, really. you rarely see fleshpounds in the main game and maps are always 'short range' in killing floor. not to mention all the cloned patriarchs roaming around. and sirens destroying explosives and the like.
After watching TB's video about it, I'm a bit more accepting of the whole thing now. He brings up a good point that if cosmetic micro-transactions are necessary to assure the game gets finished, then there's nothing wrong with it.
Don't go overboard on projects which you may run out of money if you can't finish it with the current resources.
We don't even know if these rumours about TW having problems have any basis, but considering they started work on that Red Orchestra: Vietnam, probably not. In fact, they shouldn't even working on it considering the amount of time is taking for them to finish the current product, even if there are two separate teams.
I gotta say, Firebug is the most appealing class to me right now. Simply for that one ability that causes zeds to explode when they die. I think that shits fantastic.
Firebug is the most fun class, you have fire, explosions, shotguns, and a gun that utterly wrecks any of the big dudes.
I'd really like to see more 'on death, zeds do x' abilities. Sharpshooter could have something like "Headshots ricochet to other zeds" or something.
On death, zeds die.
On death, zeds die.
That's the level 25 demo perk, all zeds die.

KF2's graph bugged a little on the right, but I still found this funny.
Stop fucking comparing it to Payday 2.
Stop fucking comparing it to Payday 2 jesus christ.
They are so drastically similar I don't see why not.
They are so drastically similar I don't see why not.
except that payday 2 promised to never have microtransactions, was already charging an arm and a leg for dlc, and cosmetics have stat boosts. they really aren't that similar.

Do we know anything about the gunslinger's perks yet?

I was talking about the games themselves.

We get it, you hate KF2 now
You dont need to remind us
yea, co-op, horde based, guns
the similarities are truly endless
How about instead of being a smartass, you actually provide valid reasons why KF2 and Payday are not similar games? Literally no reason to be acting that way, I'm not insulting or looking down on either game.
Co-op gameplay consisting of 4 or more players. Hordes consisting of "normal" units mixed with a variety of special units, witty dialogue among the players, huge variety of guns and perks that allow you to customize the way you play. They are similar games, I never said they're the same.

I... can't really argue with that.
