The Hardline maps look interesting but fuck from the looks of it it looks nearly abandoned.

Do not buy Hardline DLC. It is almost completely dead. Prime time sees ~30 people across all the released map packs so far.
As ludicrous as that sounds, to the point where I can't believe it at all, I'm totally down with Battlefield 5 going in a completely insane direction.
Hell, if they did World War I, but Codename Eagle style, that'd be ever better. You'd have zeppelins you can run around in with biplanes and silly WWI inspired tanks on the ground.
I'd be down for trench warfare
Trench warfare with destructible terrain would be pretty fucking orgasmic.
Hey guys. Anyone playing Battlefield 3 still?
I really can't see the World War 1 thing happening. The setting just doesn't have the popular appeal that other settings do.
I dont see ww1 happening because it sell terribly. I feel like the desire for something like that is really niche. Also Sci-fi 2143 seems like the most reasonable next step but then it would directly compete with Titanfall 2, which is also in the works, and I don't think EA would want that. Honestly I only see them sticking with modern or doing alternate reality WW2, with a slim chance of something like 80's cold war

After giving BF4 Metro Grenade Simulator, I haven't touched it since. Still a fantastic game though.
WW1 dogfights hell yes
i hope they let me use a pistol
oh boy prepare for louder crybabies screaming for shotgun nerfs because trench warfare
Screaming for nerfs is old hat, just run your own server that has a plugin that kicks and bans people for getting shotgun kills, even if they are total garbage weapons.
Shit used to be against server ROE but EA doesn't give a fuck anymore.
I still dont see how this is going to work. Tanks were just barely a thing. Theres going to be no IFV counterpart. Hell, cars were just barely a thing. Are we going to be able to ride horses? smg are barely a thing yet. Its going to be all bolt action rifles and automatic rifles with emplaced machine guns. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of WW1 as the setting of the game and I know there are other games that have done it well, but unless they REALLY change things up, I dont think it will work with the current Battlefield formula
Yeah, I'm seriously skeptical if WW1 is going to be the setting. That just sounds ridiculous. If it's a spinoff, or perhaps just a part of the campaign or whatever, then I could understand, but I seriously can't believe a triple-A game made in 2016 will be set in WW1.
Please no World War. Please no.
I'd rather WWI than another modern military shooter.
I'd rather WWI than another modern military shooter.
most recent AAA FPS titles are set in the not-so-distant future to crazy robotic stuffs
Just give me something that can live up to BC2 or 2142 and isn't a complete circle jerk like 4 has ended up.
Please be 2143, please be 2143...
I'd rather WWI than another modern military shooter.
The modern military shooter has been pretty much replaced with future shooters now, but I'd rather a WWI Battlefield over a futuristic Battlefield because future is already overdone and I never played 2142 so I don't have nostalgia goggles.
Titan was a fucking great gamemode.
it would be nice for the battlefield series to go somewhere it hasn't before
if this sets a new trend of like war of 1812 or civil war fps games, i'm fine with it.

The point of battlefield is that it's high speed drug infused action with helicopters and tanks, having horses that takes a shit ever 5 minutes and having to stop every time you fired your gun would defeat the purpose. You saw what happened to hardline, it stepped into the cops and robbers genre, and the concept wasn't that far of from the original battlefield and it was a complete failure. But I agree it'd be nice to see something new.

I have two words: Codename Eagle.
If Battlefield were to go World War I, there's no way they would do a realistic take on it. It will have biplanes and tanks, hopefully zeppelins too! It's not like tanks didn't exist in World War I, even if they were extremely rare, but that's never stopped equipment from showing up in Battlefield. The XM8 and XM25 are both prototypes that have never seen service, but both have appeared in Battlefield games.
Besides, a world war is a better fit to Battlefield's gameplay than cops and robbers no matter how you look at it.

Here's a some of Codename Eagle's (DICE's first game, set in 1917, and predecessor to BF1942) vehicles.

Either way though, this is all talking about a rumor that is just as likely to be made up or misunderstood than true. I'm still putting my money on 2143 as the next Battlefield, although I really hope to be surprised.

Slight correction, the XM25 has seen some service in Afghanistan.
does progress in bf4 save when you quit during a mp match? 1000 ticket battles can get tiresome sometimes.

Yes, as long as you don't rejoin the same match IIRC.
I'd be down so hard for a WWI game if they take it into a Wolfenstein:TNO direction with some crazy nazi robot science trench warfare
guys the next bf is just going to be a watered down ~future~ setting like the recent CoDs, calling it now
