Battlefield Franchise Megathread V1 - 'Hardline is still DLC' Edition

Honestly, i don't really like that you can't do any slash damage with the knife in Battlefield 4.
I can't count how many times I'm close to knifing a person only to have the knife whiff the air in front of them / go through them without damage.
It bugs me that the first knife attack isn't always the one that connects.
The knifing system in bf4 is horrible.
It really should go back to the BF3 system, because the counter knives are a horrible idea the way they are implemented.
Though i feel they should implement a system where if a person is shot at by another in the last X seconds, they can't get a knife animation on that guy.
I've had a lot of people in 4 manage to knife me from behind when still being in front of me, on my own screen, while i was shooting at them.
I've also once accidentally hit the knife button while an enemy faced me, only to have them do an instant 180, making me knife their back.

TL;DR: BF4's knifing system is bonkers.
Getting knifed from "behind" when they're in front of you usually happens when you quickly turn around to face an enemy. I have a suspicion that the one initiating the melee has priority when it comes to hit detection (which makes sense since the game is client-side server authoritative) which makes it so that on THEIR screen you're still facing away from them, initiating the back knifing animation.
But then you still get shit like this for some reason.

Not talking about quick turn arounds, those usually trigger a counter knife to me.
I'm talking about a tactic i see a lot of players do recently, running right at someone, then past them, abusing that priority you mentioned, and the delay afvantage, to knife the other player from the back or side, while on the other player's screen, they're still in their LoS.
I got a pretty nice clip of an IFV run in BF4. Unfortunately it seems like the latest Nvidia patch somehow borked shadowplay but at least the footage is still usable if a bit corrupted. At least the important bit at the end is still intact. Hope you guys like it.

jesus christ, it broke so bad it went back to BFBC2
Just recently got back into this. Realised that I'm terrible at shooting in games in general, so I went just vehicles.
Never underestimate the fun that can be generated from being secondary gunner. 9/10 times, engineers will assume there is only one person in the tank and assume they can just waltz up from behind the turret only to get assblasted by the spot-spamming turbo-twirling HMG on top
[editline]5th April 2016[/editline]
The best feature I think that could be added is secondary gunner being able to pop up from the turret and use their ordinary weapons too
commander mode is a rich and satisfying Battlefield experience

lol not really

I'm not sure what this would achieve. It would probably be useful to pop out and fire a rocket but you'd be a sitting duck most of the time.

You can repair without driver accidentally abandoning you, use RPG, toss landmines out behind you, spray dudes up close in case you don't manage HMG heat properly, and using the handheld designator which would free you up to use a different gunner perk. Maybe even train LMGs or take a sneaky sniper shot between designating. And don't forget ~realismâ„¢~
Main thing would be a short animation for balance otherwise people's head would be popping in and out of existence from the cupola
If EA went back to WW2, maybe the turret spot would come with super powerful binoculars that allows a special kind of spotting that lets everyone see the spotted target's distance and soldier type + it lasts for longer than a regular spotting.
I've played 200 hours of this game and still haven't even touched the commander mode.
It does look fun, though.
Got my new g502 mouse today and I feel like my shooting is better, but i'm still dying a lot

It isn't. There really isn't enough to do, especially when your team is losing and can't capture points so the stuff you can do is even more limited.
You can view the game locally and tell people via team chat what is going on but often people don't really listen to you.
Commander mode is fun when you have maybe 1 squad that is all friends and the at least 2 others that at least listen to you. It feels good to see them move around the map and cap objectives you tell them to or to hear them request new orders. It feels way better than playing with normal pubs where you give a squad orders and somehow they end up on the other side of the map
Alright, I played my first round as a commander and didn't have a clue what I was doing during the whole thing.
I've been lagging a lot lately. Any one know whats going on? I got low ping, no other processes running other than the game browser and I am rubber banding more than Rubber band Man. In game test even says I'm fine.
If this keeps up, I'm uninstalling the game.
Sounds like packet loss to me.

I had similar issues, turned out it was a part of my antivirus interfering with network traffic

Same exact thing I had going on last night. 84 latency and I had the orange latency / latency jump icon on all the time
The thing is, I don't have anything else running in the task bar other than origin, my headset program, and mozilla since EA loves external browsers. I have no clue what would be causing packet loss.

Your ISP perhaps? Try this: http://www.pingtest.net/
Make sure you have Java installed.

Tried it already, says I'm fine other than it says it can't test my packet loss.
Tried again, said 0% loss.

is Hardline worth 10 bucks?
I am getting no packet loss, even across the ocean. I wonder if it has something to do with either BF4's servers or my ISP starts throttling at around 9 every night.

can you shed some more light on this? Might be worth exploring all potential options
I wish I could pump these out as fast as Ravic but I'm not as skilled and I can't tolerate 64 players conquest as well as he does. Anyway, enjoy:
the blowtorch is the best weapon in bf4 and nobody can dispute this fact of nature.
I mean it can kill enemies, heal vehicles, and magically reconstruct bridges.
Clearly its OP

Nothing is OP except teamwork :vs:
