Actually, that's the way i got the game. Honestly i got it after the patches, so i didn't live any of the problems the game had at launch.
On an unrelated note the L85A2 is the best assault rifle.
I can't use burst weapons in this game, the burstfire locking up bug is way too bad

If you get the timing right, weapons such as the M16 do a lot of work. But yeah, the bug ruins burst weapons.
Unica 6 and Deagle .44 big love the deagles animations carry the power and weight over really well, and the Unica well i just love that gun cuz its so cool.

Oddly enough I started using the FN2000 and it's a fantastic gun. The counterpoint to its slightly lesser damage is the rate of fire it has. It's not super fast like when you get the burst fire just right with the AN-94, but it's fast enough to fuck shit up.
I use lots of different guns to spice things up. Yeah I can choose one and still kick ass, but it feels so much better when you try something new once in a while.

The FN2000 has the standard 24.5-18 damage model that most assault rifles share. It has the 3rd-highest ROF, however.
Remind me again, how do I counter snipers in this game?
Every time I go outside on any map I get my shit farmed by rank 140 recons.

Just got out of a hardcore TDM match to get some easy kills with a DMR, failed miserably.
As soon as I popped my head out of a window, some dude was on the other side of the map killing me already.
On a related note, what's up with tickrates? That's a new thing for me.

I just got back into the game a couple days ago and finally went on a 24/7 Metro server just to unlock the F2000 and I love this gun. Especially with the F2000 scope.

DICE allowed server owners to up their tickrates anywhere from 30-60tick. It's variable due to higher server and client strain on higher tick

Usually, juking a bit with some intermittent jumping and unpredictable serpentine movements is usually enough to make snipers miss you 90% of the time.
The tickrate is the number of time per second a server will make the required calculations to simulate the game. So for instance, the standard tickrate of 30hz means the server calculates the in-game simulation 30 times per second.
The higher the tickrate, the more responsive and accurate (as in there will be fewer "errors") in-game actions will be.
Recons have been a plague since BC2 that i know of and it doesn't seem like it's going to change, might as well get used to it and maybe fight fire with fire.
I remember there being a lot of snipers even in BF2
