Makes me wonder if it's any of the "major" eras now I just hope it's not a half assed gimmick like Hardline
Tbh with the screaming for a 2143 and with CoD taking the leap into space, i'll be surprised if it's not a future or near-future swtting.
I want to be surprised though, because I can totally imagine in my mind how a Battlefield 2143 made by DICE today would look and play.
The biggest argument i've seen against a 2143 game is that titanfall 2 is going to be coming out within the same few months too, and it would be stupid if EA released two futuristic multiplayer mech-focused shooters within months of eachother.

The walker (which is what I assume you're thinking of when you say mech) was merely one vehicle to use, and the only vehicle that even resembled a mech, and even then they're not even remotely comparable to Titanfall's mechs.
It doesnt matter, they wouldnt put out two shooters, especially with similar settings out at the same time. I dont think Titanfall 2 is coming out this year though.

I was just trying to correct him anyway (he does make valid points about the futuristic multiplayer shooter, just not the mech-focused part), I have no opinion on what the next BF will be, I would love 2143 though.
I'd prefer it to be 2143 just because futuristic shooters are my favorite kind of shooter, but it could be interesting if it was WW1 or 2. The only way I'll really be disappointed is if it turns out to be yet another modern shooter.
Battlefield Bad Co. 2 is still really fun
BFBC2 is fun but the netcode is so fucking bad by today's standards.
BFBC2 is fun but the netcode is so fucking bad by today's standards.
Bad Company 2's netcode was horrid by the standards of its day. It was unplayable on release. People who bitch about BF4 netcode and claim that older Battlefields had better netcode have never played a Battlefield game before. Battlefield's netcode has always been crappy, just different flavors of crappy over the years as they've changed how it works. People forget that deliberately shooting at the empty air next to a guy who was at point blank range was how CQB used to work in the Refractor engine Battlefields.
A 2142 sequel could be great if DICE would just learn their fucking lessons from past mistakes. There's so much potential. Titans were one of 2142's iconic features and, despite their flaws, I'd love to see them make a return. Hell, it'd be great if this time DICE could work things so that they don't cause intense server lag/clipping glitches whenever they move so that commanders could have more to do than mindlessly watch from above. Maybe they could even work like the AC130? With the new engine, not even the sky's the limit. And it'd be better to see more incentives for getting objectives done rather than gunning down as many players as possible. I think the titan mode would contribute to this quite a bit, since the only way to win is by carrying out objectives but still. To this end, better tactical/teamplay would be a good thing too. As opposed to a magical fairy teleporting you next to your squad members, why not bring back 2142's drop pod system instead, using your squad members/leader as a beacon to land near? Alternatively, force squads to use spawn beacons in order to spawn in their team mates. Aside from eliminating any frustration that would ensue from being killed the moment by the other team you spawned in, I could imagine it'd be quite fun to give players a semblance of control over where they appear.
I don't think they'll get rid of the "out of thin air" method of spawning on your squadmates/SL, it's too essential to modern BF; the SL beacon in 2142 traded quiet spawning for more reliable spawning, which worked rather well IMO.
I think I've seen legitimate spoilers for what it's going to be and I'm really unhappy. I hope it's fake. Dear god let it be fake.

Yeah if it's the "Battlefield 1944" projector thing it's fake as fuck. If it's not any of these things then post it.

Looks kinda legit at first glance and then fake when you look at it for longer. Before [t]http://i.imgur.com/USinkD1.png[/t] After [t]http://i.imgur.com/XZNwvgg.png[/t]
March 2017 is a dead giveaway alone lol, the game will come out in october most likely.
he needs to post it regardless of fake or not. i haven't looked up a single thing regarding bf5 and i want it nao!
He's probably just trying to rile us up for attention, lmao Also, I'd really like a F2P Bad Company. Possibly without Magnum ammo
He's probably just trying to rile us up for attention, lmao Also, I'd really like a F2P Bad Company. Possibly without Magnum ammo
Actually not. It were the projector screens above which I found out about but I haven't been back since posting that message. I am relieved. Really dont want anything regarding WW1 or WW2
What do you think about this? Is it fake? [t]https://i.imgur.com/zfKwyCL.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/CJhueLr.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/crwJthQ.jpg[/t] If it's true then game will either be banned in Russia or EA won't dare to publish it there.
Korean war would be cool.
What do you think about this? Is it fake? If it's true then game will either be banned in Russia or EA won't dare to publish it there.
Those were posted in the BF5 World Premiere thread and someone said they were confirmed fake.
If we don't get 2143 after all the teasing with Final Stand I'll cry.
Gimme my raifu waifu VOSS L-AR pls
Either way I'll be happy with a 1944 or 2143 game (or bonus points for vietnam), I'll be pissed if its yet another modern warfare game.
I could be happy with a near-future setting where PAC is on the rise n shit, would be cool with contrasting weaponry
