WW1 in alternate history, with Titan like airships wouldn't be bad to be honest...
(neither would be WW2 in that setting)
But I'm not really up for a plain WW1 experience.
The teaser itself promotes something huge in the sky after all.
What time is the reveal again?
What time is the reveal again?
Duuuuuuuuuude
There is a huge countdown on their site...
http://www.battlefield.com/event
1 PM PT - Yay for US centric localization, must be nice for you, Australians :S
Which is 15 hours and 30 minutes since now.
I completely forgot about the countdown :pcrepair:
To the people saying what would they even do with WWI tech I'll just quote a post I made recently.
I thought Codename: Eagle actually takes place in 1927. The main timeline divergence happens in 1917. Here's the plot according to wikipedia
he game is set in an alternate timeline, centered around events starting in Petrograd, Russia in 1917. World War I and the 1917 October Revolution never happened. Germany has yet to become involved with any of the other world powers. The story starts when Tsar Peter of the Russian Empire is betrayed by one of his closest friends, General Popov. One night, Popov sends assassins to kill the Tsar and the rest of the Royal Family to ensure that there are absolutely no living heirs to the throne of Russia. Popov would later cover up the murder by addressing the Russian people that a "terrible accident had befallen the Royal Family". The villainous general then later presents Lieutenant Oleg to the people of Russia as the "sole surviving son of Tsar Peter: Prince Alexander" and has Oleg crowned as the new Tsar.
Unknown to Popov, Colonel Sergei of the Russian High Command somehow managed to overhear the General's evil plans, and he immediately rescues two children from the doomed family: the real Prince Alexander and Princess Anastasia, who earlier was "shot and left for dead, somehow managing to survive". It is unknown how Anastasia managed to still be in Russia, but Sergei arranges Dr. Meier of the famous Russian Scientific Institute to hypnotize Prince Alexander to temporarily erase his memory of his real heritage and replace it with that of a "farm boy who grew up in the countryside of England". This is a precaution to save Alexander from giving himself away as the true son of Tsar Peter. Meanwhile, with Oleg as a fake Tsar, General Popov, who is hell-bent on world domination, manages to take over almost all of Europe, throwing the continent into a bloody war. Soon, all free nations of the world form an alliance known as "Shadow Command" to rebel against the evil might of the Russian Empire.
Ten years later, in 1927, Prince Alexander (with his temporary memory) has grown up to become "Agent Red" of Shadow Command, and he is assigned the most difficult missions that the alliance has to offer. He is also the only playable character in the game. Red's main friends who fight on his side are Captain Potter, his instructor for his missions, the female "Agent Goggles", and the male "Agent Mortar". The main goal of Shadow Command is to defeat the Russian Empire, using whatever means possible to defeat the Russian war machine from within.
The tech is still mostly based on WW1 though

Well working out a control scheme wouldn't be hard
Press W to go forward
Press S to go back
Though it could be cool if it were like the gunship, roving across the battlefield.
I hope everyone here knows that DICE developed the hit video game from 2001, Shrek, and it's follow-up, Shrek: Extra Large the year after.
This year in November, around the time this new "Battlefield" game should release, Shrek (the game) will have it's 15 year anniversary since it released.
Now, with that in mind, I'm pretty sure we all know what the future of Battlefield™ will have in store for us.

Sick, I hope they do start making historically accurate campaigns. The last few single player sotries were so forgettable it's unreal, and if the new game is still just current day I won't get it.
This also means we will be getting closer to the possibility of getting an unofficial Band of Brothers game.
Hey since hardline is on sale for dirt cheap and they're giving away the dlc is it worth picking up? Or is it so dead that's it's not even worth considering?

So ww1 confirmed??
WW1 or Alternate WW1 is basically confirmed. That's awesome. It's basically like an entirely new setting for video games, it hasn't really been done outside 1-2 games.
What is that cape even
So ww1 confirmed??
Perhaps an alt-WWI timeline. The Mauser pistol in his hand and the zeppelin in the back are recognizable as at least WWI. However, the spiked grenade in his hand and the submachine gun in on his waist don't ring any bells. The closest thing would probably be the MP 18, but it doesn't look close other than the heat shield on the barrel.
Battlefield: Codename Eagle
oh shit

[t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Chx9rgiWEAAoSJY.jpg[/t] even better version
With the sten on him as well, IF that image is even legit. Seems like a mash of both ww1 and 2. Or maybe just WW2 with a broomhandle mauser in it too.
Nevermind its the early smg, so if that picture is anything to go by looks like ww1.
Oh, not a spikey grenade but perhaps a trench raiding club.
What is that cape even
Rain poncho they had plenty of them.

It would be really interesting if they focused more on melee fighting.

It's not a spiked grenade, it's a trench mace/club.

It's not a Sten.
They were just talking about codename Eagle on the stream as a sort of hint, I have a feeling this is going to be a sort of spiritual successor now
is that doctor strange

pinch me I'm dreaming. I'm a WWI Buff, my dream is to do WWI archaeology, I'm a provisional member of a WWI Reenactment group, and the thing I've always wanted is a AAA WWI game. And here we are.

That gun under his armpit looks more like a Sterling SMG

It's an MP18, you can see the Luger snail mag sticking out the side
No... maybe not a Sterling? Looks like a wooden stock and the mag is facing the other way...
