Otherwise it looks alright. Considering that MP18s were the primary weapon of the Sturmtruppen i'd be very surprised if the guy in the screenshot isn't one.

I guess if he wasn't wearing a cape it'd be better, it makes him look like a wizard or something Eh, I'm just really disappointed it's not 2143

This is going to be so interesting. WWI being almost completely untouched by video games, and DICE taking a big risk instead of playing it safe and doing modern/close future.

Military tactics back then were assbackwards hence the constant use of trenches and just throwing people into walls of machine guns.

I am very, very excited by this. I think going crazy with the next game is exactly the right move. The series needs a mix up of some kind, and a pseudo reboot of the series in the same vein as Codename Eagle is an awesome way to do it.

The Platoon and Squad became the dominant unit on the field, the era of large charges were over with. If you want to see that in action from someone who was there, check out the series "Our World War" specifically the second episode "Pals", which deals a bit with the battle of the Somme. And while mistakes were made by commanders of all nations (looking at you Hotzendorf) where they just threw lives away, it wasn't as senseless slaughter. This was one of the most vibrant times for the evolution of tactics, it was far from assbackwards by 1915. Trenches were dug out of necessity, to escape all the steel and lead flying through the air during battle. They started off as small firepits dug by individual soldiers, and soon became joined and the order of the day. You also had the race to the sea which solidified the front as neither side was able to outflank each other as they dug trenchlines up to the English Channel.

It'd be kind of a dumb name but at least it'll be impossible to confuse it with anything else, since there is no other game just called "Battlefield".
