Battlefield Franchise Megathread V1 - 'Hardline is still DLC' Edition

Friend wanted to reinstall Bad Company 2 so I figured why not, BF4 is dull after Hardline, BF3 is fuckhuge, figure I'll give BC2 a shot after 3 years.
Holy shit I'm having so much fun. There are the requisite things I don't like and it is by no means perfect (no diagonal strafing is seriously awkward) but there are so many things that it does better than BF3/BF4.
Would you guys recommend getting Hardline since I skipped out on 4?
I absolutely adore more infantry based combat with sub machine guns, pistols, shotguns, ect.

I'd say get the Premium Edition for 4 when it's on sale and wait for Hardline to be way more polished before considering it.

Hardline is fun but not $70 fun. I'll be jumping in around $30 myself.

I generally agree that the Premium Edition for BF4 is worth it now but I honestly thought the Hardline beta was more polished than BF4.

They really should patch in some of the Hardline stuff to BF4.
EX: Taking ammo/health from a team mate, showing the Conquest captures zones, etc.

It really depends on what you mean with polished....
The gunplay/weapon/gadgets balance was really awful back in the beta, almost at the point that it REALLY WAS the bf with the worst weapon balance in the entire franchise (also unfair faction exclusive weapons that i have to BUY TWICE, the fuck they were thinking???)
But something that i really loved it about was, the fact that my game didnt crash in the entire beta, i was happy (actually, my PC crashed once during the game, but it was because memory leaked bla bla bla i pushed my PC too far)
BF4 have a lot of content quality in the MP compared with bf hardline, mostly on models, textures but i really dont want to talk about it because, the game was rushed and i respect visceral as a developer so.....
its not worth it for $60, that might be my point

I'd say get it.
I've put 100+ hrs into BF4 but I'll probably still drop $60 on Hardline. Personally it scratches an itch infantry-wise that I haven't felt since BF3. The low TTK makes almost all the weapons viable and there's very little fluff unlocks-wise compared to previous games imo. The number of tweaks they've added also make the game that much better, and I love how it doesn't take itself that seriously.

The assault rifle is the L85
Still empty, the only 2 other people left. Oh well.
I could assist you when I get home from the job in about 3 hours. Like seriously if anybody needs a wingman that excels in every aspect of the game fucking call me up. Provide me with a good squadmate and I guarantee you some pure grade-A pubstomping.
Add HezzyUK, gonna be stomping some fools on some vanilla servers soon
(dude I'm playing with hasn't had chance to download the 20000GB of expansions)
So I tried out a few hours of BF4 using the one week of Origin game time, and I really, really dislike it.
The unholy amount of vehicles everywhere makes playing a footsoldier nigh impossible, Jesus. Every two seconds, I'm being shot at by either Mobile AA, an APC, or a motherfucking combat boat.
The support and medic's unlock progression is probably the most asinine thing I've ever seen, too. I'd love to C4 or RPG that tank over there, but neither of the two classes get suitable anti armor weaponry unless I were to suffer long enough to unlock C4 as support. Even then, i doubt I'd be having a good time.
This game would be great if I liked vehicular combat, but it's just kind of overkill for me personally. I liked BF3's balance of vehicular combat and infantry moments way more.

Search for infantry only servers or play other gamemodes than Conquest Large.

But I shouldn't have to do that.
I enjoy the dynamic which vehicles bring, but when they're too dominant, it's just not fun. Hardly being able to make it two steps out of spawn without being barraged by a volley of shells and bullets leaves a bad taste in my mouth, though that's more of an issue with Paracel Storm than other maps.
That's why I like BF3 more. I can still function effectively and be useful even in the midst of armored vehicles.

Which map have you played most? Lancang Dam or Golmud Railway? both maps can get really shitty in terms of vehicules balance and infantry combat.
The C4 is the last unlock for support class cause, newbies dont run with unlimited c4 when they start playing that class, thats why
I see no reason why Assault should be able to do anything against armor; at least that way it has a counter. Support isn't the primary antiarmor class, so C4 being default isn't all that surprising, and it's not like it takes that long to unlock it anyway. I don't have any real complaints about the unlock system in BF4; it manages the shitloads of stuff quite well imo.

I'm not saying that assault should have anti-armor capabilities, but it's annoying to come from a game where I have everything unlocked only to be forced to deal with an artificial progression wall. Being helpless against the largest factor in the game is horribly obnoxious. At least with assault, they can stay by teammates who DO have anti-armor capabilities and revive them should they go down. As a support, you're basically helpless if your anti-armor teammates get eliminated, and don't get me started on fucking in-vehicle repairing with boats and choppers
As far as unlock progression goes, I'm sorry, but "small" ammo and first aid bags is the most idiotic design choice by a developer I have ever seen. Even if the small medkit might have some minor advantages, the small ammo pack is completely inferior to the large one.
Perhaps I've been unlucky. I'm going to keep giving the game another shot every so often, but so far the experience hasn't been that appealing to me. I'll at least play until I unlock the tools that best compliment my playstyle.

I'd add Siege of Shanghai, Paracel, and Zavod 311 to that list if we are talking about Conquest Large. Vanilla Battlefield 4 has by far the most vehicle-based maps of any of the Battlefield games. Quick comparison: Siege of Shanghai has as many vehicles as a large map from Battlefield 2, not including jets. And it's several times smaller to start with, then you have to keep in mind that almost all the fighting is relegated to the streets, further lowering the play area and creating scenarios where you can die 12 times on a map and have 10 of those deaths be to vehicles, easily.
I usually avoid conquest large and go for regular conquest to avoid the otherwise overabundance of vehicles.
Since I've been complaining so much, I will share a few things I love so far with BF4:
The smart-cover system when firing behind objects is great.
The pistol selection is amazing (the wepon list is good in general, but I love pistols).
The game is pretty.
