Now I wonder, will there be any indoor maps? Isn't WW1, a outdoor battlefield?
Didn't they say there was an urban map somewhere in France?
Now I wonder, will there be any indoor maps? Isn't WW1, a outdoor battlefield?
Haha, like every major conflict in history? There's rumors there will be a map with a gigantic centrally-oriented cathedral. You could have military fortresses and palaces as well. I think their new focus on destruction (which seems to be incredibly dynamic, I wouldn't be surprised if you actually could smash your tank through walls like in the concept art) is shifting them towards smaller buildings on open battlefields. [t]http://i.imgur.com/9lzV1FK.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/syHrepX.jpg[/t] No, I wouldn't expect maps that are 100% indoors except for maybe small-team variants of larger maps.
Maybe they will learn a thing or 2. And go back to ww2 instead of future stuff.
Depends on how Infinite Warfare goes down. This was only initial reception for games in September/October, after all. But I estimate that Sledgehammer may be a bit worried if they were planning on keeping the sci-fi direction with their game next year only to see the rug pulled out beneath the genre thanks to Battlefield 1.
I would love it if they ditched realism and went batshit crazy with themes. Battlefield: Iron Abyss - Gothic styled Post-apocalyptic setting using Diesel-punk tech. Call of Duty: Digital Disaster - Tron-inspired warfare.

They have been peddling destruction as if they were pioneering it since Bad Company 2, since which it remains fundamentally unchanged from cheap physics-disabled gibs and scripted sequences. The trailer gives me no reason to believe BF1 will be any different, as much as I hope it will be improved.
Call of Duty: Digital Disaster - Tron-inspired warfare.
It already exists, its called "Black Ops 3 Campaign Mode"

There's a lot that they could do by revisiting them, covering the backstory to Black Ops and Modern Warfare, and it's not hard to produce either, since all 7 of them more or less use the same assets. With that being said though, even a remake of that scale wouldn't match the impact that BF1 produced. A return to a traditional setting in an attempt to make a throwback to the glory days of Call of Duty's infancy, and the usage of a somewhat forbidden and undesirable setting that is The Great War to create something radical and unusual for the FPS genre makes for some very contrasting expectations, reactions, etc. Personally I'd be happy if I got both(and I'll definitely consider getting BF1), but that primarily requires Activision to get pussy-whipped into giving a damn. Lets hope they will.
I fucking hope that the Canadian military's in this game, iirc they contributed quite a bit during WW1.
I fucking hope that the Canadian military's in this game, iirc they contributed quite a bit during WW1.
How about the Royal Newfoundland Regiment? They were not part of Canada at the time, but still. They were also at Galliopli. They lost nearly their entire regiment on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. [editline]8th May 2016[/editline] If they do anything with Canada, it will probably be Vimy Ridge or Passchendaele.
With Newfoundland accents and speech.
If DICE decides to really reach deep into their ass and pop in a few non-military weapons I'd like to see a Model 8 as far as semiautomatic rifles go.
Was I the only one who thought that both player movement and gunplay in general was really floaty and unresponsive in BF4? That's the thing I want them to fix up the most.
I want them to fix a recon headshotting me off a speeding bike at 750 meters and TDM spawning me into a group of enemies, but alas.
Was I the only one who thought that both player movement and gunplay in general was really floaty and unresponsive in BF4? The whole game just felt janky in a way I don't remember it being. After playing a lot of CoD it was just tedious.
I want them to fix a recon headshotting me off a speeding bike at 750 meters and TDM spawning me into a group of enemies, but alas.
Dice spawns™ never change battlefront was a good example
I hope they'll make gun animations/general FPS feel 'twitchy' as it was in BF3. I've always liked on how BF3 felt really twitchy and responsive while BF4 has this weird 'floaty' feeling to it which is pretty noticeable if you switch from BF3 shotgunning to BF4 shotgunning.
So is carving/engraving the new method of customization? I like that idea a bunch, especially if it's permanent

how big we talking?

Would EA use this weapon ingame? The Mauser 1918 T-Gewehr It's a German high caliber variation of the old (pre)WW1 elephant rifle: [t]http://weaponland.ru/images/ptr/germani/Mauser_T-Gewehr_1918-6.jpg[/t] [t]http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_01_2015/post-212-0-34588100-1421417860.jpg[/t] [t]http://thefunnybeaver.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/T-Gewehr-Anti-Tank-Rifle-featured.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/wvJbIkuZIro/sddefault.jpg[/t] Previous versions were used to kill snipers, but Germans took it to a whole other level by modifying it for anti-tank use in WW1. It was mostly a 2-man show: carrier + ammo holder/reloader, highly accurate and a good tank buster (well, vs the French tanks anywho, the English tanks had better armor and protection).

A bit about the Harlem Hellfighters: I'm even more hyped, the more I read about WW1, such a resounding trove of stories. And from TacticalBrit:
I'm still pretty disappointed that we aren't getting a 2142 sequel, but hell - who knows, maybe next time, eh? Just seems pretty shitty how they've been teasing it for years then all of a sudden "NOPE". Whatever the case, I'll find it fascinating to see DICE's take on WW1 with all the prototype/experimental gear slapped into it at the same time. With the Frostbite engine I could see maps changing dynamically based on the weather, trenches becoming flooded or sandstorm whipping up on the Middle Eastern maps. It'll also be interesting to see how they work in the older bolt action rifles and make them as fulfilling as people found semi-auto/full-auto weaponry to be and it'll be a nice change from the mess of BF3/BF4's gear unlockfest. Hopefully, DICE will actually focus on incentivising the completion of objectives and teamplay rather than encouraging one man armies focused on racking up kill. Also, part of me hopes that zeppelins will somewhat reintroduce titan mode (or at least parts of it) in preparation for an inevitable 2142 sequel in the future. And armoured trains could be kickass, too - I really look forward to seeing what kind of creativity this could inspire. Then, last but not least, naval warfare - which again could be really awesome if an emphasis is placed on teamplay and keeping ships running as opposed to solo play.
Would EA use this weapon ingame? The Mauser 1918 T-Gewehr
Yes, infact it was seen in the trailer next to the british mark 2 in the desert. Here: So we can expect to see a lot of different weapons made for different purposes.
Given it's generally historical, that should provide a safer framework than the shitshow we got in BF4.
Yeah, BF4 had potential I though, only played in the last few months my favourite part was right at the end, wasn't even an action sequence, but more of something that had more of an emotional impact man I'd kill to be one of those Chinese [editline]9th May 2016[/editline]
they better not gate unlocks by endings like they did with bf4 yeah it was 3 guns but it meant i had to play through that level 3 times and thats 3 too many
I exited the game as soon as I got the unlock so the checkpoint wouldn't overwrite seemed to have worked but I remember watching the credits too that shit went to menu way before the roll ended, well done dice!
