The Refactor 2 based games were super moddable. Custom maps, custom models, effects, balance, basically everything that wasn't fundamentally changing the engine was easy to do. Project Reality really went nuts and I don't know how they do half the stuff they do. Battlefield 1942 was the first game I ever modded and it planted many of the seeds for what I do for a living today.
Desert Combat was the first big mod for 1942 and I honestly think it was the precursor to what became the modern military shooter because of how big it was back in the day.

Previous BFs had a ton of great mods. The Desert Combat mod for 1942 pretty much laid the groundwork for BF2. And BF2 has mods like Project Reality.
Point of Existence for BFV was v. good.

Forgotten Hope for 1942 was amazing. It had virtually every weapon and vehicle that was actually used during the war.
are there any servers in bf4 where there wont be any aimbot or tryhard pros with 3.0+ k/d ratios wrecking my shit every game?

First of all, dont go to "Newbs welcome!" or servers like that, its a clickbait for noobs to join the server and the admins get easy kills on them, douche move.
Did you try going to a 32 server? there are not many shitbuckets/try hards doing shit on those servers

problem is, nine times outta ten there will be at least one tryhard that really ruins the game for everyone

So I got three e-mails from EA, two of which contain a code: one unlocks a lot of handguns, the other a bronze battlepack. I bought BF4 premium like a week ago, never played it before. Is this a standard practice?
Yeah the handgun unlock kit was free for everyone a while ago but i think its free for premium people forever

I do not think I have ever been in a server with a hacker in BF4, and if I have they were very subtle about it.
Also I never really tried before but shooting helicopters out of they sky with a rpg is very satisfying.
I've been playing on the night maps on the test server, they're really fun.

Huh, on the test server you have the Phantom Bow unlocked from the start, so if you have access and ever wanted to try it.
You also have access to the Developers only Pistol Scope

I had similar issues when my PC came from the store, it had a RAM memory error and after they fixed I didn't have the issue. I got an GTX 660, not a 660Ti tho. That isn't necessarily your case however, try doing driver-related fixes (roll-back, reinstall...). This whole error seens to be the worst kind, the one that you are unsure of what causes it and you just sorta fire in all directions to solve it.

Do you have SweetFX installed? I had that issue until I removed it. Which kinda sucks because I liked my game with a faint blue tint.

You can have the pistol scope for the Magnum and M1911 in the normal game, unless you're referring to other ones.
Also, the L85A2 with heavy barrel and angled grip is a fucking beast at long range.

well, the one on the 1911 is described as developers only. the one on the Magnum however is a veteran(?) unlock.
