Battlefield Franchise Megathread V1 - 'Hardline is still DLC' Edition

I went and played some BF3 because I felt nostalgic and within 10 minutes it crashed so fucking hard I had to hard reset my computer. :frown:
From what everyone that played it has said, it was supposedly pretty terrible.
Onslaught was great. Good coop fun, but obviously not better than Bad Company's single or multiplayer.
Since the spring update, everything is much more balanced, smooth, and in a way - easier. The net code updates make it much more playable and enjoyable, and the weapon balancing pretty much removed OP weapons from exisiting.
There is a fair amount of servers playing base maps, but I'd recommend getting Premium so you can enjoy the maps plus the DLC weapons.
Yes and no. Semi-auto shotguns are way too powerful at range now. But most of everything feels right currently. Occasionally you will get some lag or netcode issues on metro/lockers 64man, but I like the current state BF4 is on PC now. I still dislike how tank shells only disable attk and little bird choppers. But 1 RPG can blow them up, doesn't make any sense at all. But if you can find BF4+Premium at sub $30, it's a great deal.
Premium & BF4 premium edition is on sale for 25€ (and I assume 25$ on US origin) on Origin right now til 17th August.
oh my god who EVER thought that making mouse acceleration whatever on those new hover tanks a way of aiming deserves a kick to the teeth
I've been owned by a small heli, and I had so stupidly many chances to take him down if not for the fucking cannon mouse controls
like, he was hovering right at the tip of my cannon
seriously eat shit
Well, after playing the PS4 version of Planetside 2, i've caved in and bought Battlefield 4 since i like having a more solid objective than a big whole clusterfuck.
Now to decide if i want to buy Premium and sink another £40 into this already.

Simple, don't use the hover tank and pop the low flying little bird with an RPG. Problem solved.

Most players on PC play the vanilla maps, not sure about console. I would say to definitely wait for a big sale on premium if you do.
Man, I really love a lot of the weapons in this game. Half the time I'm battling with myself over which pistol/rifle/dmr/ect. to use because I like them all so much.

I'm the complete opposite. I have like 1 or 2 guns per type that I ever use because the rest just feel like trash to me.

I'm that way as well with like 3 guns per category that I like, but I'm always switching between them
Well aside from a certain Helicopter deciding he isnt going to bring his hitbox to work today (and it wasnt me just being dumb for once), the campaign not be too bad. Do i get anything of worth for doing any of the side stuff for the campaign for the multiplayer?

Excep dog tags, the only thing of worth are the guns you unlock at the last mission, with the "last choice".
That's it
I mean, at least in the BF4 campaign you can't get killed by a rat...
...in a QTE.
I swear, that had to be a BF3 dev's call for help.

Well no, but the level can fail to load properly, making you get stuck in the floor, or make a character following you not spawn, getting you stuck until you reload.
I swear the BF4 campaign is extremely broken

On like the first mission going up that tower in China I died once and then when it reloaded it put me ahead of the AI so I was free to just run around in the huge open area in front of the tower :v:

the mission where you go up the elevator was so broken for me
When you accidentally reached the floor with the soldiers on it, the whole room didn't load, so I just saw these poor lads floating
On the very first mission where the helicopter shoots at you and you crash onto a mid-level floor, the floor didn't load so I went flying to the ground and died.
Checkpoints didn't save it either, a constant loop of fall, fly, and die.
In the last mission, Irish did not spawn, so I was stuck at the door wondering what was wrong
I literally got stuck in a rock yesterday playing Hangar 21. I was cruising on a ski-mobile and was capturing E, I went to jump over this pretty big boulder and got stuck inside of it. Then a friend spawned on me. We were both stuck. BF4 is fun, but it's still broken.

Sometimes the dog tags don't even unlock properly. I got all three dog tags in South China Sea but it didn't actually unlock for use.
Am I fucked?
I want Battlefield 5.

Premium is on sale almost as often as it isn't, just wait a bit and the decision should make itself.
German server admins, you are drunk, get your shit together.

I've been playing on this server for like 2 or 3 rounds in a row... on 4th round/map it decided to kick me for having K/D higher than 2.0 ... WHAT THE HELL?!
IT DOESN'T EVEN STATE THAT THIS SERVER IS FOR "NEWBIES" !!!
I want Battlefield 5.
It's confirmed for next year iirc
Something is confirmed for next year, but we don't yet know what. Battlenonsense put out a good video on the topic, as well as some opinions. As someone who has been playing since the first demo of Battlefield 1942 was released over a decade ago, I tend to agree with his side-rant about what Battlefield has become and why older Battlefield players say it's not as good as it used to be.
TL;DW: DICE confirmed that some kind of Battlefield game is coming out next year, but we don't know what it is. It could be 2143, it could be Battlefield 5, it could be Bad Company 3, or maybe it'll be something completely unexpected.

This is a great channel by the way if you're interested in a lot of the technical details behind BF4's recent updates, especially when it comes to netcode.
"interested in a lot of the technical details behind BF4's recent updates, especially when it comes to netcode."
But that's honestly a waste of time, not trying to be mean. I have 900 hours in BF4 on PC, with each patch they sort of fix something, balance a few things and break something else. That's all you need to know. My best advice for anyone is just find a weapon combo you like, pick your favorite color for skins and have fun. Do not worry about anything else.
At this point I wonder : how can you make a proper battlefield game? What would entice teamplay and neuter lonewolfing?

I so desperately want 2143.

1. Selection of BF4
2. No levolution events, slim up the coding. This alone would help dramatically with the "netcode" or hit registration issues.
As long as there's such a thing as latency, there's gonna be someone who gets the short end of the stick netcode-wise.
