Fuck I wish I could SKIP the goddamn credits at the end of the last mission....fuck
At this point I wonder : how can you make a proper battlefield game? What would entice teamplay and neuter lonewolfing?
Honestly, people will lonewolf if they want to lonewolf, period. If people can successfully lonewolf in ARMA and Red Orchestra, they'll definitely try to go it alone in anything that could be called a Battlefield title. Older titles might have had more teamwork overall, but the playerbase was extremely different back then as well.
(Which isn't to say that changes could be made to make loner playstyles less attractive, just expecting to remove them entirely is being kind of optimistic. Even if you actually force people to stick together, they won't necessarily cooperate.)
Something is confirmed for next year, but we don't yet know what. Battlenonsense put out a good video on the topic, as well as some opinions. As someone who has been playing since the first demo of Battlefield 1942 was released over a decade ago, I tend to agree with his side-rant about what Battlefield has become and why older Battlefield players say it's not as good as it used to be.
TL;DW: DICE confirmed that some kind of Battlefield game is coming out next year, but we don't know what it is. It could be 2143, it could be Battlefield 5, it could be Bad Company 3, or maybe it'll be something completely unexpected.

This is a great channel by the way if you're interested in a lot of the technical details behind BF4's recent updates, especially when it comes to netcode.
I revise my statement; I want BF2143.
Also, people who lonewolf doesn't mean they don't contribute to a team. Someone like myself can spend the entire match getting rid of land vehicles (and sometimes air:P) with C4. That single factor will contribute greatly to the teams ability to capture points.
I'd just like to think that all the 2142 shit in Final Stand means 2143 is actually coming rather than it all just being a huge fuck you tease.

This guy on the video got he shit right, he has the exact same fears I do about the ego-shooter direction of the franchise, I wasn't really an active player during the 1942/vietnam era since I was waaay too young to even know what is online multiplayer (I think my first contact with the franchise was when I was about 6 years old), but even looking back at bot matches you could notice how lone wolfes suffered heavily. On the other hand, BF4 squads are usually 5 isolated people ocasionally spawning on eachother.
The few times you actually get a communicating squad, the game gets so adrenaline pumping that I wonder what can't people at DICE can't see that makes then do decisions like Vehicle regen and health regen, essentially making classes self-sufficient from supports roles like medics and enginners. IMO, the best way to see this is just look at people's loadout in matches, a lot of assaults prefer the grenade launcher above a medkit, enginners use at-mines and rocket launchers with no repair tool, recons with a beacon in the middle of nowhere and a motion sensor for camping. The only class who still is necessary is Support, but that's because ammo regen is such a ridicolous concept that I don't think they would go so far. And don't get me started on the almost useless and poorly implemented commander, no wonder most servers don't even bother leaving two slots for him, he is so fucking unecessary.

Yup, I thought the same thing. Maybe it will be 2141? A prequel to 2142. People keep saying 2143, but that makes no sense as BF4 is prior to 2142 lol.

It makes a lot of sense.
First of all, 2142 wasn't connected to any of the other Battlefields titles until Final Stand came out for Battlefield 4 with futuristic stuff that links to a couple of things from Battlefield 2142 (Titan, Hover tanks and dog tags).
Second of all, there was Battlefield 1942 (first battlefield game), some years later Battlefield 1943 came out, see the easy connection? It is safe to assume that new "2142" will be called 2143.
EDIT:
Final Stand is like a prequel to 2142 already, with us being able to see the tech of future being slowly constructed/designed.
Considering that new BF title will have a lot more content than old 2142 had, it would be pretty stupid to go as prequel... you would be limiting yourself.
Anyway, I don't mind if game would be set in WW2 scenario either, however I would prefer Sci-fi setting nonetheless.
Anything but modern times.
I really want to see WWII scenario with the latest Frostbite engine.
[SG553] + RDS + Heavy Barrel + Angled Grip = pewpew laser gun
This is definitely my favorite carbine
Stuff about regen.
I couldn't agree more. I believe we should not have any kind of regen in the next game. Helicopters and jets should have to RTB to reload. Medics should have to heal players to full health, etc.
Of course I could just go on a hardcore server but the lower health and no doritos ruins it a bit.
DICE likes to nerf and buff damage by vehicles. Instead of doing that, they should make it harder to operate instead of infinite missiles and rounds.
Classic mode removes regen for people and vehicles, plus removes 3D spotting while keeping the minimap and vanilla damage values. It's a lot of fun and slows the pace of the game down back to more classic levels, but unfortunately the mode is practically dead now.
It's a hacky solution that isn't perfect because the game was obviously designed around having regen, but it's better than nothing.
PS4 version of BF4:Premium Editon is being sold for £23.99 because of the PS+ discount yet Premium by itself is still £40. That makes little to no sense and i've not quite dodged a bullet per say this, more just got scraped by one on the arm. Son of a bitch.
Well looks like i'm going back to Game for a refund or something on the disk version since i was silly enough to pay £20 for it when i could had waited till today for the sale, i don't think the receipt will be useful for me though in this occasion. So if anything, i'm paying the standard price at PSN for it right now.

The good ol days of buzzing the carrier to refill jet ammo :excited:
You guys are just describing a more hardcore Battlefield. There's plenty of tactical shooters nowadays like Arma, Squad and Project reality. Why not play those instead?
Because Battlefield was never anywhere near as hardcore as those, and those games are more sim than they are game. Operation Flashpoint/Battlefield 1942 and ARMA/Battlefield 2 peacefully coexisted because they were targeting completely different audiences and played nothing alike.
I liked playing BF2, I hated playing PR and serious Arma. They are nothing alike :v:

Arma - way too much simulation
Squad - not out yet but will be a perfect blend between realism and arcade
PR - because it's dead?
Regen as a concept is fine, but BF3/4 do it way too much. Like, it's no fun being blasted down to sub 10 HP and having to hound down a medic, but at the same time, being automatically restored to full health is silly. For infantry, they should implement a cap that stops healing you once you hit 25 or 30 HP again. That way, you're not automatically dead in a firefight, but you still maintain a massive disadvantage that encourages you to find a medic.
I don't think vehicles should have regen though. There's a reason I always go to Support for anti-armor measures instead of engineer.

I was going too fast and accidentally slid a dirtbike underneath one of those modular buildings :v:
Works better than you'd think, just hold on the embark button:
The stories in BF3 and 4 were so god awful.
I'd rather that they just make a new separate story in 2143. I'll be mad if they want to do another modern shooter; unless if it's Bad Company 3.
The story in the book of Battlefield 3 was better than the campaign's story, in my opinion. Had way more to it.
I'm still waiting on a full-production Battlefield Pirates or Medieval BF
Never gonna happen but one can dream
I think I lost my BF2. The fact that you cant buy it on Steam even though it has its page angers me so much.
Commander mode is pretty fun on a 64 man server on conquest maps like Pearl Market. Just launch cruise missiles after UAV spotting an area and watch the kills rack up. It's awesome when you launch em and watch them explode on the ground and the ticker just keeps going with [CRUISE MISSILE].
I kinda think we should have a regen cap of 50-75 and vehicle regen should fuck off as well since they're the reason why Supports/Recons perform better than Engies in taking out vehicles.
Oh and I bloody hope that they reduce the amount of bloody gadgets we have. All it does is making the game harder to balance along with adding to the already high frustration level of the game, especially random UCAV/SUAV kills.
I would actually like it if it went back to the BC2 style of the assault being the one having ammo boxes and the medic having the LMGs.
Right now, I feel as if the M320 HE is just a waste to pick, because even though it'll help you get a kill or two every once in a while, it's not as good as the medic bag and defib combo
They definitely need to do something about the medic class. It's just not worth it to play if you don't play smaller maps like Metro, Lockers, Zavod, etc. Engineer/Support own the big maps with vehicles galore - especially ones with instant vehicles.
Assault is still in a pretty good position if you ask me since it arguably has the highest lonewolf capability of all the classes. A decent player would be able to avoid vehicles and stick with vs infantry combat while still helping the team out by giving out meds + revives which is also a reason why they are the ideal lonewolf class. They also have access to ARs which are pretty much the most versatile weapon class in the game.
