Battlefield Franchise Megathread V1 - 'Hardline is still DLC' Edition

Played about 3 hours, had a lot of fun but suffers from the same issues every Battlefield game does. The vehicle physics aren't nearly refined enough for a game that emphasizes vehicles this much. Especially hotwire mode; nothing worse than having you car do a spaz attack and get blown up instantly for standing still. That said I really like the mode and between it and Blood Money I think Visceral did a good job of balancing modes that aren't just Rush derivatives and Conquest. Hit detection is wonky but not nearly so bad as BF4's launch. Some of the gadgets are pretty fun. Helicopters feel too powerful.
Overall an ambitious Battlefield 4 mod that I might get a few hours fun out of but can't see myself paying $60. Especially since none of my friends are.

Oh and what the fuck happened to destruction? It's been getting steadily toned down to the point where I don't even notice it in Hardline.
Just did my time in the beta, feeling about the same as most people in the thread: it's just painfully mediocre.
It does improve the vehicle handling, I think . . . though I've never more than tolerated getting behind the wheel in BF3/4, so take that with a grain of salt.
Guns feel like they have at least a little recoil, but the combination of ridiculously low TTK in CQB and comical inaccuracy at range (for everything I managed to unlock) didn't make for enjoyable gunplay. Fire/reload sounds seemed to be all over the place in terms of style, volume, and mixing quality too.
Probably the most telling thing to me, though, was how similar a lot of the playermodels look-- the cops vs. robbers setting gave an opportunity to make factions identifiable without spotting aids, and it was thrown out the window.
Also . . . why would you basically remove suppression but keep hitflinch? That's getting rid of all of the effect's tactical usage (the good thing about it) but still giving preference to spray 'n pray close-quarters bumrushing . . .
So I guess the general consensus is that BFH is a shitty CoD knockoff with cops and robbers or something?
Trying to make the BF series fast like CoD but ultimately feeling out of place/really bad?

It's Battlefield with CoD thrown in, and everything has a Reskin and new name. Other than that, Yeah it's not even really Battlefield
You know what's really annoying? When you go prone and you crawl into any obstacle. ANYTHING. You automatically stand up. This includes if a guy runs into you. So have fun trolling snipers, just walk into them and they stand up. They should also make sure that friendly molotovs are NOT blue in Hardcore mode. There's no point as Friend or Foe it'll kill you anyway, and having blue means you'll get trolls just walking into it to get you kicked for TK'ing
I think they should use / make a new engine for the next battlefield IMO, Frostbite will always feel clunky to me
I never got why people whined about shotguns in Battlefield games. Is dying in one hit because someone outplayed you really more annoying than a dude just spraying across the map with his no recoil 900 rpm assault rifle?
I agree with most of the points mentioned her but I cannot deny that I had immense fun playing Hotwire with my friends.
Definitely going to be shit on launch though, it still feels really unpolished and buggy. So disappointed.

The problem with one hit kill weapons aren't that they can kill in one hit. I think every weapon should put a guy down in one hit personally. But that would suck because of latencies between players, and how Battlefield handles high latency people with its lag prediction means that if they're moving rather than camping, they're going to already be at an advantage over you with that first strike capability, and having a one hit kill weapon leaves you with no chance.
Even two players at 40ms there's about a 300 to 500ms delay between what they do and when you see it, now throw in people with 200+ pings. It's bad. There's a video that shows a comparison between 2 players and pings, both in real time, and you'd be amazed at the delay
Is it me or melee is sluggish and really hard?
I get fps stutters sometimes, but i get that annoying micro stutter when strafing and moving on a one second tick, great...
And fraps doesnt work ingame.

Microstutters out of the ass also. And it really likes the CPU. x4 3.2ghz isn't enough for that conquest map, no matter what settings you put it on, you're not getting more than 25fps with it. Unless it's an Intel Quad of course
Definite improvements to be made, but fucking wow is Hotwire fun. I've got a massive hard-on for cops and robbers, so I'm probably going to pick up Hardline at some point in the future.
Friend just went 27-1 in the transport helicopter I flew. It's ridiculously overpowered when there are no AA options available.
[sp]we still lost because battlefield players gonna battlefield[/sp]
I want to know why they went the Cops and Robbers theme if they're going to also have Helicopters with .50's, Miniguns on top of SUV's and RPGs. It doesn't fit at all and comes off as more of a mod for a Battlefield game
Hardline is pretty fucking fun so far but honestly I'd probably only pay like $15-20 for something like this. Doesn't really feel like the Battlefield I'm used to but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The cash system is pretty great and the maps are fun.
Is it me or melee is sluggish and really hard?
The starting weapons are quick but it seems like the purchasable ones are definitely slower. The machete takes like 2 seconds to do anything. Can't say anything for the others.

That's pretty much the only thing I think that has improved over the last Battlefield game, is the unlock system. It should honestly be ported to BF3 and 4.
Producing this video kind of snowballed into making me buy a Creative Cloud student license:

please tell me that's a real easter egg

Didn't BF4 have special reloads that happened on like a 1% chance? Maybe that was it.

It has been confirmed that this is the case.
After playing it a bit, I think I've found the perfect way to describe exactly what Hardline feels like it is
It feels like a mod in beta for Battlefield 3. It should be sold as an expansion like Bad Company Vietnam

day 1 refund?
Why the fuck are the crosshairs in the helicopter off by a mile
Why the fuck are the crosshairs in the helicopter off by a mile
Air vehicles crosshairs are affected by momentum. If you've been veering left, your missiles are going to go off slightly right.
Air vehicles crosshairs are affected by momentum. If you've been veering left, your missiles are going to go off slightly right.
i'm talking in the rogue helicopter. The bullets literally come out well below the crosshair regardless if i'm veering around or if i'm floating perfectly still. Scout helicopters in BF4 had this problem at launch before they eventually fixed it and it made scout helicopters useless because you couldn't tell where your bullets were going to land
it also doesn't help that tracers are difficult to spot in this game compared to BF3 or BF4 so shooting both snipers and the helicopter is even harder when you can't see where your bullets are going half the time
Oh, okay. Talking about Hardline. Yeah, you're on your own.
Hardline is fun as hell.
It can be fun when it wants to be, but most of the time it's crippled by the same issues as every other recent Battlefield game out there.
While i do agree with some of the things said about Hardline i do find it immensly fun. (I've had zero connection issues or problems with hit registration so far during my 11-12 games.) Sure, I'm probably not going to buy it at launch but me being a sucker for cops & robbers I'll definitely get it at some point.
Here's my overall thoughts about Hardline so far;
+ Car radio is boss.
+ Vehicle handling is improved.
+ Interesting maps.
+ Cops
+ Robbers
+ Attack Cars were removed entirely as far as i can tell.
+ Hotwire
+ Heist
- Cop/Crim restricted guns. (I mean, who wants to buy the same gun twice for each faction?)
- Decrease in destruction.
- Vehicle collisions still suck.
- Helos are OP, sure, with a good groundside-team you can take 'em out with small arms-fire but if there's zero coordination then you're legitimately screwed.
- Helos are weak, if your teammates have no idea what the fuck they're doing even the dumbest schmuck could bring you down with his AR or a picked up LMG.
- Deployment UI is very... clunky.
- Some elements of the in-game HUD feels very small and confusing at first. (Health, vehicle health etc.)
But yeah, that's what i can think of right now. Also, i dunno why some of you are complaining on the animations when half of them are reused from BF4 while the rest are fairly polished IMO. I mean, it feels like some you are just hopping along some hate train without providing good examples of faulty animations.
I just went back to Battlefield 4 to get a feel for how the graphics have changed, it's quite noticeable how much more polish is on that game. But then again, BF4 looks better than its beta did, so.
