Battlefield Franchise Megathread V1 - 'Hardline is still DLC' Edition
There is no point in being dedicated transport heli pilot, because:
-You can spawn on flags.
-You can spawn on teammates.
-You can spawn on spawn beacons.
-You can spawn on common transport vehicles on almost all flags.
Logistics and transportation is dead in Battlefield.
(Yes, I know that transport heli and amtrac works as mobile spawn point too).
Then be a gunner in said vehicle (tank, LAV, scout heli, attack heli)... you get unlocks that way too.
I loved being transport pilot in BF2142. The thing was hard to shoot down and you could land it at a flag and not get blown up within 5 seconds by some dude with an RPG. It was a legitimate way to get players from one flag to another.
For some reason the night map isn't actually in the patch, you have to go through the Origin store to download it (still free).
added new jdam explosion effect?
yes
also attack jets physics 313
the Nightmaps are (Free) DLC, you need to trigger a download

Aww, was hoping they would tweak the semi autos a bit.
Aside from fucking around with Frags, the semis are way too good :v:
Pumps still reign supreme. Shoot 'n Scoot.
So I've just grabbed EA Access on XB1 and am currently downloading BF4. Anyone's up for some rounds?
Not that many people playing Xbox One around here but you're still welcome to join the Platoons.

Could be a nuisance to some, but it pretty considerate to those who don't have the bandwidth or other technical limitations, by removing it as a requirement to play the game.

I guess that since maps are non-essential they're considered by the game logic to be "DLC" since they don't need to be loaded if you don't have it.
wheres my scout heli in night map
wheres my scout heli in night map
You playin' Conquest Large?
You guys keep saying "night maps". It's only Zavod night.
And it's pretty bad imho.
Only Flir / IRNV campers, sadly

I went commander on a local server
litterally the most helpful thing, as UAVs come very handy
You can also see vehicle's lights on the arial view

Flares + flashlight and blitzkrieg them.

Laser sight shotguns and flares fuck them up pretty good.

This too.
Just played a few rounds of Night Zavod, and this map is fucking rad.
I ran suppressed straight-bolt CS5 with INRV + canted irons (in case of flares), suppressed MP443 with flashlight, thrown motion sensors, and TUG-S. Combined with squadmates, it's a really fun combo
Just noticed that plugin-free game launching is finally available.
Out of curiosity, what is everyone's stance on BF4 and Hardline? I'd prefer to only get one of them, and judging by the thread title everyone is in favor of BF4. :v:
Also, apologies if this has been asked.

Get four, you won't regret it.
I'm normally not one to trust CD key websites, but £8.89 on G2A? That seems surprisingly cheap.
Regardless, I'll probably use Game Time to make sure I can actually run it first. The beta was unplayable for me.
EDIT:
Of course, forgot about the DLC and such. £25 for Premium.
I've been playing battlefield since the release of battlefield:Vietnam, and I always notice that BF4 gets a lot of flak from other battlefield veterans. Personally I think the game itself is a worthy successor to battlefield 2; it has a hell of a lot of content ( A lot of memorable maps, IMHO battlefield 2 only had a handful of maps that I really played while I can perfectly play on a map-rotating server in BF4. Also the sheer amount of gadgets you can use, like drones and mortars, create a couple of hours of fun), and some stuff that wasn't really possible in battlefield 2 ( Like very long range engagements, urban maps with towering skycrapers, better vehicle VS vehicle combat ).
In some aspects the game has been casualized, some aspects, like the slow vehicle health regen, might improve the gameplay experience, while others like the clusterfuck of spawnpoints deteriorate it. I understand why people criticize due to the casualization, but I don't think it ruins the overal experience; battlefield games have always been about giving the feeling of actually being in a battlefield for me; and I think BF4 far surpasses the earlier games in giving this feeling. For me, the worst part of battlefield 4 is probably the lack of modding support, which was the best part of BF2. Mods like Project reality and forgotten hope have me coming back all the time, while after a lot of hours of gameplay BF4 kind of died on me.
I really do think it's arguable that Battlefield 4 is the best Battlefield game because of its huge amount of content, polish, great balance, best netcode to date (not saying much considering this series' history, but you know), and gameplay. This is coming from somebody who has been playing Battlefield since the singleplayer Battlefield 1942 Tobruk demo.
I mean, I still think 2 is the best with 1942 a very close second, but 4 being the best is now a legitimate stance to take.
I hate/love how agile the infantry is in modern Battlefield. It doesn't make much sense in a game that has vehicles.
The infantry being slower or not being able to sprint infinitely would make tanks and IFVs much more a threat, since they wouldn't be able to escape them so quickly.
Transport vehicles would also become more viable options.

Infantry agility isn't the problem; 3/4 of the classes having effective anti-armor capabilities is. Shit like transport helos having so little armor that they die in pretty much one hit from anything, and little birds ruin the air balance by effectively acting as both attack and transport.
Having infantry able to have handheld AA in general is a stupid idea.

It's like 25AUD on origin for Premium Edition (Game + Premium)
probably 18sterling off estimation
then again, they may have different prices
BF4 *now* is the best bet, especially if you can find a good deal on BF4+premium. Hardline, is just, well, a joke. I bought it and gave it a chance, 30 hours wasted. Hotwire was fun, until the 1000th time you circle the map and the millions of dollars you can't spend on anything pass.
if bfh was just like bf4 and just sold regular and premium it would be fine
but no we gotta buy the £100 package to actually get premium on startup
Wake up, make some coffee. Then, get on, sip some coffee,
and make this shit happen :')
