god dammit
[QUOTE=marvinelo;44746021]I have yet to understand how anyone is able to read those 'crazy' Taiko and Mania maps.
I always feel like such a casual for only playing standard, as both Taiko and Mania seem to be a lot more difficult to learn and master compared to standard.[/QUOTE]
They're not comparable to each other, not only playing but reading heavily differs as well, the only "skill" you bring with you from other modes is how fast you can mash buttons.
[QUOTE=#Okaayshka;44764656]Taiko should be played on special drums.
I didnt understand how to play it on keyboard.
[/QUOTE]
Only if you have the option to play an actual arcade, the only accessible alternative is the Wii drum and that only works as a novelty toy you put up for display after you realize it's crap.
I've been looking for more high bpm stuff to map but can't seem to find anything interesting, suggestions are welcome.
Taiko gets hard to read for me at high speeds, mainly because the 5ms response time of my monitor means it's all blending together if it goes fast enough. That and my hands get confused sometimes over what button goes to what color, so I'm just bad anyway. :v:
hooray for vaguely pressing the right buttons

Fuck this game[/QUOTE]
I can only do that if I enjoy the song and map enough. Otherwise, I'll settle with a low score and wait until I get better at the game.
[editline]15th May 2014[/editline]
I mean yeah my rank suffers because of it but I'd rather enjoy the game
hooray for finally getting LR2 to work!!!
it's amazing how hard it is for me to play with colors i literally couldn't even pass simple maps with any of the IIDX skins and had to remove the colors to not play terribly. i'm still going to have to tweak the skin a little but it's good enough for now.
[media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ksy8Qh3yAQo[/media] (i played pretty badly tho tbh)
decided to go with the old binding of SDF[SPACE]JKL; for now. i've already noticed it being a little hard to spam colon with my pinky for scratching back and forth so i might change that to E/I??

[media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMf5gBkLsRQ[/media]
[sp]i'll look into my collection of ~songs~ later to see if there's anything suitable[/sp]
why is osu! so loud
it's like 4am and i started up to play a map before sleeping and it was at like 100% vol and some vocaloid shit was blasting through my headphones and pretty much threw me off my chair
[editline]16th May 2014[/editline]
don't you just love it when your mouse casually jumps off your mousepad mid jump
[QUOTE=boats;44795848]I've been looking for more high bpm stuff to map but can't seem to find anything interesting, suggestions are welcome.[/QUOTE]
okay here's some. not sure what you'd consider to be "high bpm", but here's a few i have from looking just now
all of the bpms supplied are approximate, and sometimes the drums are twice the actual bpm
most of the songs are pretty long so you probably wouldn't want to do the full thing
in format:

Took me about an hour to decide to pass. Got to 1200 combo about 10 times and failed after I broke everytime. Lewa was trying to make me relaxed by talking about my horse cock but in the end I just kept breaking. Gonna take that rank 1 soon though, mark my words. I don't even care about that score because it's only rank 4 oddly. I felt no achievement in it. Anyways back to studying.
Oh also I did a first play rank today that wasn't even in the top 1000 of the map but it's my most giving pp map now (295).

If you're using OBS, use these:
[t]http://a.pomf.se/sjsuqw.png[/t]
[t]http://a.pomf.se/jkiehv.png[/t]
quality 9, bitrate 4000, produces something like this:
[media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjmi3hmWpoE[/media]
not sure what the stuttering is from as there's no dropped frames reported by OBS. setting to quality 6 might improve upon that.
it's still has ghosting on my monitor, but there's no blur
video resolution is just as important as bitrate
[editline]18th May 2014[/editline]
generally not specifically to that
Anyone here know if there's something to make audiosurf even faster? Google didn't really help.
if you want 'clear' gameplay video use 60fps webm instead of yt compression
converting a 60fps "[quality balance 9 / bitrate 4M] mp4" to 60fps "[-crf10 -b2M] webm" results in a ~2x filesize increase due to webm's terrible fast motion compression
even with a preset of "veryslow" for maximum compression with ffmpeg, (which takes a while to encode), it still went from 15mb->32mb
even "-crf 20 -b:v 1M" webm from x264 goes from 15.6MB -> 17.4MB with quite an insane loss in quality.
at the same time, facepunch doesn't autoscale vid tags so you get page-stretching videos if you don't use youtube embeds
If you know of a decent way to convert it then i'd like to know because i'm pretty interested in webm encoding atm
even better if you know of a recorder that can go straight to an optimized webm. i was thinking of looking into the OBS code to try and contribute it myself later.
here's a 60fps mp4 embed of the play i was testing with this encoding:
added bonus is that it's straight from OBS so i don't have to spend extra time encoding in ffmpeg

(this should play in all browsers, but let me know if it doesn't)
Is that what the game looks like during play? Why is the play stage only like 1/4th of the screen?
the game is played vertically and our monitors are horizontal
making the keys larger to encompass nearly the entire screen would make it harder to read
it can be flipped to the left side as well, but i personally prefer having the turntable on the right side of the 7Keys
and if you're in 2player mode (or 14K mode) then the left score-tracker is replaced with another playfield
also that picture in the middle is usually replaced by a video if the track has one
mania portrait monitor support would be cool
[editline]19th May 2014[/editline]
also webm is bigger yes but generally has more support for embedding on facepunch afaik. a lot of browsers won't play .h264 for licensing issues and other stuff; i can't see your video with FF 29 OS X
ah right osx/linux would probs have problems with it; i forgot about that
i'm using FF29 on windows and it plays just fine, i'll use webm in the future
here's a 60fps webm @crf25/b2M of some of the fastest slider velocity play in taiko as a test
filesize: 21.8mb
[vid]http://a.pomf.se/zykqgw.webm[/vid]
compared to the same 60FPS (down to 30fps) mp4 uploaded to youtube
filesize: 21.1mb

Holy shit I'm so pissed off right now, I just killed one of my unicorns and 99.16% FC'd Infinite of Nuclear Fusion on [Lunatic] but it was in MP so there's no replay data.
you can always hit F2(?) at the end-of-song screen where all of the scores are shown to save replay data even in multiplayer

I thought I had my game set to auto-export but apparently I was wrong.
i think auto-export only works in singleplayer because ~osu~

Need kuhwhyee vids
got my hands on a crappy point and click that records video so I tried recording my hands while playing because I can't really watch them as I play
[vid]http://puu.sh/8TQQY.webm[/vid]
the kdkdk :v: It's funny how exaggerated it looks, when I play I don't even notice.
good new rhythm game players of the united kingdom of great britain, soon the UK will get a public iidx cabinet, the only one in the entire UK! Wow indeed! It will be set up in Astro City arcade in southend-on-sea, fully up to date spada cab with full networking features like on official e-amuse. this is exciting
[sp]too bad for me I live 5 hours away[/sp]
