Rhythm Game Megathread v1 - Don't stop moving to the funky funky beat

Stop using the mouse buttons to click, use your other hand to click with Z and X keys
Mouse is way more stable when you just aim with it, instead of doing both clicks and aim

o thanks mang
always wondered why whenever i watched osu playthroughs the keyboard was being used
[editline]November 11th 2015[/editline]
this is going to take a LONG time to get used to
and my left index and middle fingers are getting tired too
nevermind fuck this i'm switching back to mouse
i don't care what you say. no way in hell.
Hey Orkel while you're still here, do you have any taiko tips? I remember you posting lots of taiko game play on the osu v1 thread (I think that was before I was registered even).

gl deathstreaming with mouse only

When I used the mouse I found I could keep the mouse more stable when I right clicked instead of left. I could just be weird though since I use my ring and middle finger instead of my index finger with the keyboard.
[editline]aaaaa[/editline]
Also does anyone have any advice on how to deal with short sliders overlapped with each other clustered with regular notes? I'm slowly starting to get into 3 star beatmaps and it kills me when these colossal blobs of notes just appear out of nowhere and they always completely kill my flow too because these people will just crap these slider-clusterfucks all over the place right in the middle of a drum pattern or something and I can never understand what it's supposed to synchronize with or sound like so I can hardly get past the maps that have them, even more so than maps that have square jumps and streams.

Play maps that you can't pass
https://osu.ppy.sh/b/74150
That is the map I started playing taiko with, it's like a skill grind, passed it after a long time and other maps became easy
[editline]12th November 2015[/editline]
Also I play with ZX as blues and NM as reds, the default controls are one red and one blue per hand but I find it easier to divide reds to one hand and blues to the other

For osu! can you basically do the same thing? Would you use no fail?
did anyone here buy rb4 or gh:l
i'd love to see some facepuncher footage

I used W / D because significant difference in finger length + that's my resting hand position even while playing not-shooters or even browsing facepunch

I want RB4 so bad but I don't have a PS4.
..or the money for the instruments since I don't have my old ones anymore after moving

in my opinion, you should use it only when there's a certain part that keeps killing you
eg. some ultrafast spaced shitstream

You will never be able to play well with mouse only, better grind skill on ZX

Using the edit mode works for that since you can choose a certain part of a map and play it over and over again

ok i'll try keyboard again
actually, i have a great idea; how about i somehow change my desktop bindings so i use z and x to click on stuff to try to get used to it?

just keep playing with it thats how you get good at things its called practice

uhh
pretty sure there's a mouse only player in at least the top 100
am i the only person who can't stand background video and combo bursts because they're so distracting
also

I just went through the top 100.
There is only 1 mouse-only player ( https://osu.ppy.sh/u/951170 )
There are 6 mouse+ZX players
There are around 90 tablet players (unsurprisingly the best way to become good)
There are 2 touchscreen players
Rest unknown/don't show

Mouse only is viable but still not advisable. Yes you can get good with it but you'll be a lot better with keyboard.

If the sliders are 1/4 (probably not in 3* maps) then you should treat them as a note and not a slider, just click the start and release, you'll hit the entire slider if it's short.

All in moderation. Playing with nofail is fine IF you have a goal (better acc is probably the best goal). General rule of thumb: if you want to get faster, play things you struggle to physically keep up with and shitacc them until you get better. If you want to get more consistent (better reading, better aim, hold combos easier) then play long maps that you can just about FC.
Here's a guide I wrote a few years ago on the forums: https://osu.ppy.sh/forum/t/99612
On a separate topic, UK vs SK this Sunday. I think we're totally fucked but I've seen myself and the team surprise us before so it's worth a shot.
i dare someone to be the #1 best player at osu using only the steam controller
Anybody play Crypt of the Necrodancer? I just painstakingly beat zone 3 with Monk.

Imagine playing osu on a trackpad.
Now put that trackpad onto a controller and try to use it

for some reason I always try to use it like a wiimote
i have a question; what do you do when you're feeling really depressed and demotivated at osu?
Jack off
Masturbate
perform onanism
i finally beat this beatmap on hard. my health levels have received the workout of their lifetime.
dunno what i was expecting from that song
