Does it count if you have lots of fun in a new map
then esc at the last moment to avoid score submission?
I mean, sure it's fun, but I won't mind a nice number along with it

Well fair enough, but personally I'd just let the score go up and come back to it later. I dunno, I feel like it's better to not care TOO much about the score and just play songs you like, and if you happen to get good scores at the same time, hey, that's cool.

Basically I'm super casual and stuff, I guess. Still having a good time and getting better as I play more, though.

When I play osu I just random a song and/or throw a dice to decide what mods I'll use then go with it.

I used to get mad and frustrated when I miss or fail the ss after many tries, but now I just dont give a fuck and let the records stay.

If you quit everytime you fail, you aint gonna get any improvement, just like how you do other things in real life.

Depends, do you want to do stamina based streams like this:

I'd recommend getting faster first (if you can't stream it for 1 second you'll never stream it for 10). Just note that pain shouldn't be in your forearm or on the top of your hand, if you get pain it should be from keeping a general tense posture. General rule of thumb: tense for fast streams, relax for long streams. I used to play stream maps [i]every day[/i], to get that good, it was the one thing I enjoyed and you can see:

Streams take a lot more physical effort than for instance aiming, aim will improve with time generally but streaming will only improve with specific training. Don't worry about stream for now though buddy, train up aim/reading first (nothing will be as important as reading if you want to set cool scores).

2 weeks in and I'm completely addicted to osu! now. I think I'm starting to plateau a bit after just learning to do streams (I think it's the bit of Taiko I did on the side that made it "click" for me) and slowly making my way into 4 star maps. I think I might want a tablet now because I'm really getting tired of doing spinners with my mouse. :v:

I'm constantly playing different beatmaps; in any single session I try to play stuff a little bit faster than I can handle until I get tired of keeping up. Sometimes when I go back to "my level" it'll feel slow enough for me to handle easier and I don't get tricked by stuff as often. When I feel really amped I'll just disregard the difficulty entirely and just try a song 2 or 3 times (and usually fail it) and just go down the difficulty list until I can't even pass the first 10 notes.

3 star stuff is still pretty challenging for me and most of the ones I cleared I have a B rank in since I'm still working on my reading and consistency and I don't replay songs I cleared very often. I've only been able to do three 4 star maps and they're all C's but it's progress.

At the end of the day though I can't hold a combo worth a damn and sliders still burn me more than anything else so I definitely wouldn't consider whatever skillset I have to be "balanced." Right now I just do whatever is fun to me, thinking eventually most of my kinks will get worked out over time.

after downloading and playing a couple of beatmap packs, i managed to reach from 469??? to 449232 and from 178 peepee to 193 peepee. my overall accuracy, however, has traveled downward as far as my rank has traveled upward.

what the hell? i don't think i even did all that great at them compared to other beatmaps. i definitely don't mind though.

Osu! has surprisingly complicated system at ranking people. In general to get ranked higher you have to:
Play difficult maps and play them well, but don't play something too impossible for you.

But you shouldn't think about it anyway, just play for fun.

Oh my god, I got my Ducky Legend keyboard yesterday, and I have to say going from rubber dome to this is absolutely AMAZING for taiko, like, I'm so happy I can play now and it feels so much better.

If you're looking to inflate your rank, you could try using the nightcore and hardrock mods on 1-2 star songs you're familiar with and perfecting them - I jumped almost 100pp from maybe 10 easy beatmaps doing that. The speed ends up being around what you're probably already used to if you're doing 3 star stuff now.
