postal i'm going to fart on you as soon as you get this fixed
We shall all fart on him.
If it's what I encountered when porting HL:S stuff to HL2, it's that when the hornets die they exploded into a massive amount of blood for zero damn reason, but only about 1 20th of the time and I still have no idea what causes it
Dude, I am EXCITED. I really look forward to what happens with this. I would help but I'm not sure I have any marketable skills.
Nice to see the mod come alive again. Best of luck. The new Source SDK certainly did fuck things up, so much that the GoldenEye: Source devs stuck to their own heavily-modified Source 2007 SDK. I've often considered doing the same with my mod Lambda Arena, because crashes were happening a lot, and there were no debugging symbols for Valve's proprietary libraries, so fixing them was a pain in the cock.
I'm ready for 24hr Crossfire again.
To think that this project is what got me really started on game dev. Anyways, have a comparison on my work from the start of JB to now
The currently ingame SAA:

The SAA that will be in game eventually:

such hype, hopefully I'll get to play it this time
Just want to emphasize against before people get too carried away: all of this hinges on us even being able to fix this. I’ve posted to our steam group and I’ve even updated our old moddb page to mention our possible need of a new programmer. It’s on the front page of moddb right now
http://www.moddb.com/
so fingers crossed we get some takers. I’ll keep searching tho but for now we’re on our own. And god damn the mod is a broken mess right now.
Why not look around here, maybe put an ad in the Developers section?
God damn I want this to come back so bad. Best of luck with finding new programmers.
if you need a designer again for a rebrand i can give occasional assistance
I can't promise being able to help with any of the new content, but I'm very good at getting shit that's completely and utterly broken working.
I have a bunch of different versions of the SDK code and engine and that and their differences jolted down somewhere, helps massively in this process.
How can i join into the next test?
http://jaykinbacon.co.uk/donate/
It seems that the playtest donation incentive is gone as well as there being no way to actually donate.
yeah you'd be sending it to jim anyway
postal, want some ca$h donations?
that could def come in handy. whats your steam profile?
I'm not sure if any donations were left (probably not) but yeah money could be super helpful right about now. I'll have to figure out how we could best go about setting something up again, tho.
Steam Community
There. Though, the hard drive I had all of this SDK crap + a bunch of saved old mod files and such ended up dying at some point after I looked at it last a week ago so... Gimme a while while I get on rebuilding the differences list.
The current build of JBEP3 does work as long as you're on the default branch for Source SDK 2013 Multiplayer.
It doesn't seem there is anything up to do code builds though. I was actually looking at removing the donor check so anyone can play.
I don't have it installed atm, but iirc the problems begin once people start joining the server, but it's been awhile. As far as lifting the donor check, that'd essentially just be public release at that point. i'd rather we take a stab at fixing this up and finishing the bug list so we'll have something in decent shape come release day, especially since we're making progress now finally. it'll give the testers some more exclusive shit to play before release anyways.
when the fixed files come about join this group, we used to start up some games that would just turn into tests

is the plan still to remove copyrighted player models?
absolutely. anything went for awhile there when it was just our internal testing, but when we do our public release for this we're not gonna want any of that sorta stuff in the mod files. admittedly that's not gonna leave us many player models, but o well, better than pissing someone off.
just have a totally 'unofficial' pack that readds them
I finally installed the mod to take a brief look at how it runs, since it's been years since I last checked. This was without extra players running about (tho I added bots). I only played for like 10 or so minutes, but I def noticed that cats boot you to the main menu whenever a new round starts if one was thrown on the last round, and I'm getting an occasional crash on map change sometimes as well which seems to produced a blank crash log (gr8...). Gonna get some devs together and try an actual game and see how messy it gets then since I've yet to play any decent length rounds, but first impression so far isn't too bad at least. Once we've had a chance to test shit out a fair bit this weekend we'll figure out where to go from here. But yeah at the very least as is this def isn't ready for public release lol.
(also wow I totally forgot the unreal tournament shock rifle was fully implemented just before we got that SDK patch. awesome surprise)
Remember about the gravmines bug, so far they're the easiest to reproduce so far.
What ever happened to the Goomba Stomp trailer that was planned? I was talking with AniCator, who did the music for the trailer, and he showed me the music that was intended for it:

Happy to see this rolling again. Remembering the fun times I had with the old playtests. I hope to be of some kind of help to this new initiative!
I can't recall exactly. It looks like I put together a google doc for progress and assembled a shit ton of source demos for craptasket to use for making it, and I know he was nearly done since he was up to WIP 4 at least and already had the start, end, and a bunch of stuff in the middle done to the point that I recall it being pretty much complete, but then at some point it fell apart.
Actually, I think what happened was an SDK patch went up mid-production and broke all the demos I'd sent him, and then when the mod got bricked as well pretty much all motivation was lost. but i'll askkkkkkk
