Paradox Interactive Thread: V3 'Check out my sick Germany blob'

decided to start over in a new game since I was getting royally fucked. went much better the second time around where I was more familiar with the mechanics of the game. unfortunately I also spawned next to a fallen empire that is really pissy about me expanding so expansion ended up being stopped pretty early. figured I'd destroy the neighboring empire and take his planets to expand that way, so I prepared a fleet with about 50k+ military power in total.
then some sort of flood / parasite / organic shit warped into the galaxy with a massive armada, right on top of one of my more isolated sectors. my entire fleet was completely obliterated trying to fend it off early before it managed to settle and now there's a really strong empire just below my own and I'm far from strong enough to fend it off :ohno:
I'm already getting tired of the exact same events every game. They really didn't put much variety in the game.
Are there any events people would like put in the game? I might try my hand at modding for Stellaris, and simple events seem like a good way to go about it.
For some reasons most of the races I encounter in Stellaris are either xenophobe isolationists or just outright Fanatical Purifiers.

Time for war. Trying to invade the Allied Avytyyran Provinces. My faction is the Nel'sari Empire. Ill keep posting updates.
Anyone else just don't have a steam overlay when in game? (Stellaris)

Just add any event that comes to mind. Variety is what makes games like this fun, and there isn't much variety at all in the base game.
Man, i havent seen it mentioned yet but the soundtrack is so perfect for this game.
It's especially impressive when you realize that the same guy who did this

also composed this
I was really struggling with not getting fucked up in early wars in Stellaris.

This has really helped me understand where I was going wrong and I'd encourage everyone to give it a read.
Welp, time to re-equip my fleet. No wonder I saw them get shredded so quickly in another game. Good to know the auto feature doesn't work well right now, hopefully they fix it.
Is it possible to make the galaxies even bigger? I have no desire to conquer a 5000 star galaxy, but I would love the galaxy to feel vast, with only hints of what might be happening on the other side.

Or would that just fuck with the balance/ai behaviour?

Yeah, read that last night and now I'm starting the arduous process of completely restructuring my fleet.
Thankfully, I'm just on the cusp of the cruiser stage, so its not too expensive at this point
I started as Humans and found Humans
I started in the normal Sol system and found a clone of the Sol system, but where all the planets follow the Sol I, II, III, etc naming pattern
Those humans were medieval and I invaded and exterminated them for being false humans. Also I was trying to be the Imperium so of course I exterminate all xenos, regardless of what they are.

Steam Workshop. There's one mod that goes up to 10,000 stars

From what I've seen, past a certain amount of stars, the game will start to chug. The biggest issue is that, if I remember correctly, galaxy sizes also scale the passive creatures, not to mention that it's obvious there will be a lot of uncivilized pops that will eventually become spacefaring.
So it'll be fun but after a while your computer will fuck itself
Once my grand fleet is constructed, I think I need to invade my neighbours. They may be harboring terrorists.
I have never been so royally fucked by a spawn as I was in a MP session last night.
I got literally, LITERALLY 8 stars. I couldn't get access to any other ones, because I was blocked into the far left corner of the map by 5 different big angry empires. Life with Warp Lanes is a though one.

Grab every single ship you got and destroy the portal, suicide run if you have to.

I'm really sucking at building a proper fleet... That reddit guide didn't help me either, why do i have to build fucking 3-4 designs for each ship?
The planet limit is really shitty and the way sectors work suck ass so i might mod it out. I annexed an empire by taking their 3 planets then purged one planet. Apparently my pops are unhappy due to alien slaves even though i'm xenophobic but whatever. Shortly after this an alliance of 4-5 empires declared war on me. Great. I don't even have any allies because in the previous game, i got dragged into stupid wars while they did fucking nothing as i kept the whole enemy fleet distracted in my territory troughout most of the war, so IMO alliances aren't worth it.
But yeah i'm struggling to build ships and getting over 1-2k strength.
The game really needs bugfixes and AI balances. Also Ironman saves way too fucking often. Seriously, i can't play it due to getting auto saves every single month.
The AI just fucking shredded my fleet of cruisers and destroyers with a fleet entirely composed of corvettes.
:suicide:
I'm really enjoying what I've played of this so far (picked it up last night).
Might try my hand modding it at some point too.
I have a fleet of 80 ships and 5k power. Which one of you bitches wants to dance
I made an empire with one planet my vassal. He was like No we'd rather burn to ashes than become your vassal. 9 seconds of being ash later, they accept my terms
Really I just wanted to see what all I could do with a vassal. 10 years from now I'm just going to absorb them by force

Not playing Mike Oldfield in a fleet battle.
It's like you want to lose.

Despite being Xenophobic I found two planets of Pre-FTL species which I wish to keep for myself for genetic purposes.
I sense a war looming as a distant colony is on the border of another large faction/empire whatever.
I lack in everything except advanced kinetic weaponry, deflectors and armour for my vessels, I have build a few destroyers and two fleets of modified corvettes for attacking and flanking but other than that I am in shit street if I am forced into a war.
rushing colonies seems like a decent strategy. all 3 resources maxed at all times.
don't really understand the sector thing though. I understand that you kinda "give up" control of the planets for the AI to take over for you, then you can tell it to focus on that and that. still yours of course, just no direct control over it anymore. but, apparently there's no limit as to how many planets you can put in a single sector? I just got 7 planets for myself and about 30 planets more in just a single sector. is there any downside to this, could I do this more efficiently by having more than one sector?
[editline]12th May 2016[/editline]
also, you should probably survey the surrounding systems before you put 10+ colonies somewhere. I just discovered a fallen empire on the border of this massive sector and they're pissed now :ohno:
Oh, Also, those 3 groups of crystalized enemies I talked about earlier, there were two systems close with identical groups. I researched all 6 piles of debris and got a couple techs out of it. One of which being an armor module that increases hull hitpoints by a lot. My cruisers have more health than planetary space ports
So I got Stellaris and despite never having played any kind of grand stratregy, and not knowing how I'd take to it... I'm really loving it so far.
I'm not doing well at all though... My plan was to end up being this all-devouring empire of hyper collectivist xenophobic alien bugs that assimilate and enslave all other races, but I've pretty much ended up being the space bug version of North Korea... Tiny, talks a lot of shit, and is totally impotent.
But hey it's still fun.

so much yes
As an example i did a game today as the friendly enslaving empire, and within two jumps on two sides (out of three) i had two individualist militarist empires who fucking hated me (like instant -200) and they both declared seperate wars within 5 years and i had to gg in 2208.
Second try with the same settings, and i find a wast uncontested space, except one empire who happens to really like me and now we have a nice partnership of universale enslavement
It's the most amazing game ever but it can make you salty in mp

oh and, i decided to turn off ironman for once and i get this
ffs
