Also I noticed that you get a relations hit for being genocidal if any of your pops die, including from invasion what the butt
A bug I would assume.

Dunno why there's black spots around the edges, since i dropped an alpha channel over the whole background. edit: turns out relying entirely on an auto-generated alpha channel is fucking stupid so I'm gonna fix this right up
So as humans I have a entire sector with 12 planets fully populated with droid workers because they are cheap and can fully staff a planet instantly I like to think my governor is the only person in the entire galactic sector so I put the guy who I assumed to be a total dick in charge there.
What happens if you purge your primary species?
What happens if you purge your primary species?
Oh shit it's the Cylons all over again.
Oh shit it's the Cylons all over again.
Its okay. All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again.
Is there a way to focus on Robots viably? Robot leaders, Robot workers, Robot armies, Robot Colony ships...
Is there a way to focus on Robots viably? Robot leaders, Robot workers, Robot armies, Robot Colony ships...
[del]I don't think it's possible to start colonies with robots[/del](it actually is) but yes to all the rest. Assuming you're talking synths off course, their +20% to everything and habitability should make up for the energy cost. I have to actually try that at some point.
Reddit people have been editing the AI script files to make them more aggressive as right now the AI sucks. It really really sucks. I've done 2, 200 hundred year games now on Hard and I've never been declared against and I've easily become the most powerful Empire in the galaxy. The mid-game and late-game are also incredibly boring. I spend my time waiting for races to be uplifted, microing building structures and upgrades, and occasional telling my scientists to research another +10% tech. The game has a ton of potential but in comparison to EU IV, CK2 and Victoria 2 it's really empty and unfulfilling for the majority of the game session. I don't have any doubts things will improve but that IGN review giving it a 6/10 was quite right.

People will get great spawns, plenty of inhabitable worlds with plenty of minerals to mine, but also happen to be surrounded by pacifistic empires, which leads them to endlessly complain about shitty AI. Meanwhile as I've mentioned before, I've had the AI declare against me several times in each of my starts, and one of them even seemed to equip ships that hard countered my fleet after the first engagement. I can't speak for the lategame as I've restarted a few times, but I can see how it'd be boring as the best parts of the game (imo) are exploring at the beginning. Not sure what they could do to improve it.

It seems to go straight to your home system and seems to do a lot of suicide runs with 1-2 ships instead of combining their fleet if their main fleet is destroyed. It also never destroys any research or mining stations unless they are next to your colonies or get in their way. Alliance members never help you, and they seem to make alliances with empires that are so far away that they can't possibly hope to help each other and it just becomes a nuissance. There also needs to be more war goals, such as giving me a system if it has no colonies, forced military and civilian access for X years (this is extremely needed for hyperlane civs) forced to disband the alliance or federation, and a ticking war score system. I'd go as far as change the way going trough an empire works by implementing some sort of permanent military/civilian access with some sort of drawbacks or something and the AI to be more likely to accept because you just get boxed in way too quick especially on spiral galaxy maps. There also needs to be a way to create your own hyperlanes via some extremely hard and rare technology which would also cost you a lot and take a lot of time. Maybe you could only discover this tech via an anomaly or i don't know. It also seems like you can catch enemy fleets way way too easy if both of you use hyperlanes, because as soon as they retreat, your fleet will automatically jump after them and catch them at the edge of the system before they can do anything. So there is literally no escape if you outmatch them. However the AI does declare war on you sometimes, i've had it happen several times, and moving food between planets. Being able to create worlds that focus purely on food and then transporting the food to your other worlds would be really nice. I also want to see stronger spaceports, especially if they are max level, or perhaps some spaceport defense modules.
So Stellaris is a disappointment?
So Stellaris is a disappointment?
Mostly, I didn't expect Paradox to release a game with so little in it. I have full confidence they will release DLC with most of it coming as free that will add more.
So Stellaris is a disappointment?
Its about what everyone expected. Fun and entertaining but it's gonna need the typical Paradox "Months of patches and DLC" to get it up to being a great game. Multiplayer is surprisingly stable though.
So Stellaris is a disappointment?
There's a lot of untapped potential and it needs some tuning, but calling it a disappointment would be a big fat lie, imo. Like, i can't really disagree with most of the criticism but i still put 30 hours in this thing in just a few days, it's pretty good.
So Stellaris is a disappointment?
Nah, it's good for what it is, but it could be so much more. For instance there's a lot of races to chose from, but the small number of actual ship designs, lack of ability to 'really' customize them beyond a few select parts and weapons (no colour modification or whatever.)

"A.I. is too easy." Spawned sandwiched in between some Fanatical Purifiers who declared war within a few years of discovery, and some angry isolationist birdmen who wanted nothing to do with me. Both empires blocked any exit or expansions so I was just fucked. It's literally RNG. 2nd game ever I'm doing the whole steamroll thing because everyone by me isn't aggressive.

One of my games had me in the same position, but now I'm in a game where I appear to be the only instigator of war in my half of the galaxy.
Even though it needs some more content and polish, this is still the game that Space stage Spore should've been
I just wish Materialist wasn't so much more powerful than any other ethos. It makes choosing something else feel like im gimping myself.
You can disable 3D models in HOI4 https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/hearts-of-iron-iv-development-diary-56-bits-pieces.930457/
I made a simple mod for Stellaris which makes forging alliances/federations slightly easier if anybodys intrested. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=683742177

Being able to enlighten primitive species in other people's territory to give the other empire trouble would be good. "Hey look! You have lasers now, and that empire over there is evil! Go on now, zappy zappy."
An actual espionage system would be nice. Being able to have some idea where enemy fleets are stationed, their strength beyond the current info given on the diplo screen, sabotage, ect.
I'd like an option to disable the space amoebas, void clouds, and crystal entities. I just want to fly around the galaxy, discover planets, meet interesting aliens, and conquer/exterminate/enslave them. Pirates I'm fine with, because piracy at least makes sense.
I colonized a world, after a while I got a report that production on that world is down, something about the native plants. Dismiss it, then after a while I receive a report saying that certain parts of my colony had started worshipping the plants: Uh oh. Soon the cult has started trying to smuggle the plant off world and has started spouting doom predictions. Great, now I have a doomsday cult on one of my planets. Ten years later the plant goes into super-polen mode and catches fire causing the entire planet to burn in a pollen fuelled inferno. Oh hell.
For everyone saying the AI is too easy http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=683412153 Here you go. The game's only been out a couple days but there are already some promising mods
