So just want to clarify something... I imagine "alien slavery tolerance" only applies to the members of your own species, right? IE: Having 50% alien slavery tolerance makes your own species 50% less bothered by it, but it doesn't make the alien slaves themselves care 50% less. Also if I am Fanatic collectivist (100% Slavery Tolerence) and Xenophobic (50% Alien Slavery Tolerence), and I enslave an alien species, would my empire have 100% or 50% tolerance of that?
Slavery tolerance is how willing your own race is to be "enslaved" for the greater good, that's just their view of life. Think space communism, or could be religious. Alien slavery tolerance from xenophobia is them viewing other races as inferior and therefore telling themselves it's all fair to use them as slaves

So "alien slavery tolerance" makes your free pops more tolerant of enslaving aliens, but does it make the alien slaves themselves more tolerant as well? Because that doesn't make a whole lot of sense if so, but if it works like normal slavery tolerance, it should.

Just finished a major update for my Zeon mod. I'm pretty excited because I think that I'm the first person to upload not only custom weapons, but custom ship skins as well. I even added a new mining base, and replaced the orbital station with the pre-warp one. Xenophobes only tolerate alien slaves; if you enslave your own pops they'll get super mad. As far as I can tell, Slavery Tolerance can only be 100% max, the two modifiers from Collectivism and Xenophobia are different and don't stack together, as in, there is no point in having both; you can't get a 150% bonus. Collectivist is superior in this regard because it covers both your own species and aliens and enables Purging. If your pops are Fanatic Collectivist, they don't care whatsoever at being enslaved. If your alien compatriots are also Collectivists, they also don't care about being slaves, there is literally no malus to their happiness. Very high empire-wide negative ethics divergence can cause recently conquered pops to eventually adopt some of your permanent starting ethics and effectively "enjoy" being enslaved. They aren't actually gaining any happiness bonus, but are not unhappy either. The happiness of a slave pop is ultimately irrelevant unless you have majority numbers of them in your empire. However, being a Collectivist means most Pacifists and Democrats will hate you for even existing (and thus using harsher social policies by default), so these empires will be unhappy for a really long time. Basically, if you want to be a slaver, be Fanatic Collectivist or Fanatic Xenophobe, or, use the Divine Mandate government type and upgrade it once you research the advanced-types unlock. Being both a Collectivist and Xenophobe at the same time just gives more reasons for the AI to hate you and your pops to be unhappy over time.
I've had to defend the same primitive species from an extinction-causing asteroid TWICE now. :v:
A friend of mine just went to sleep. But not before setting up a 40 empire 1k star game, watching as an observer, and setting it on the fastest speed. Also a screenshot is being taken every minute. This should be interesting [editline]15th May 2016[/editline] Also, I'm taking a liking to robots. Synthetics get pretty gnarly bonuses to everything. 20% Increase to Energy, Minerals and Research. I'm going to purge my own population and replace them with synthetics
Here's the gif. So can someone explain if this is supposed to be this way? I went to war with an empire in an alliance, within said alliance were 2 other empires. After fighting the main one I wanted to, I noticed that the other 2 empires they sided with have absolutely no way of getting me nor a way of helping the former empire I'm currently destroying due to being on the other side of the galaxy and blocked off with no viable routes due to being stuck behind a ton of other empires. Now I have all their planets invaded and occupied they have no fleets, no spaceports to build more fleets and nor do they have any extra frontier outposts and so forth. Yet no matter what they will NOT just surrender and give up. Which if their allies could actually reach me and assist them I'd understand. But it seems the AI cannot tell that they have zero help coming. Nor can then tell that my fleets are like 10-15k above theirs and their allies combined. So I'm stuck here in a war that won't end, because the AI are way too stupid to realise that they can not in any way shape or form come back against me, the only way to end this war is for me to declare peace, and end up with like 1 of the 4 planets I set in my wargoals, because otherwise I cannot end said war. Anyone else get this problem, because it is driving me up the goddamn wall.

Next patch highlights include:
"CLARKE" HIGHLIGHTS Fixes to the Ethic Divergence and Convergence issues. Currently, Pops tend to get more and more neutral (they lose Ethics, but rarely gain new ones.) The End of Combat Summary. This screen looks bad and also doesn’t tell you what you need to know in order to revise your ship designs, etc. Sector Management GUI: There are many issues with this, and we will try to get most of them fixed. Diplomacy GUI issues. This includes the Diplomatic Pop-Ups when other empires contact you, but also more and better looking Notifications, and more informative tooltips on wars, etc. AI improvements: Notably the Sector AI, but also plenty of other things. This kind of work is never "finished"... Myriads of bug fixes and smaller GUI improvements. Late game crises bugs. There were some nasty bugs in there, blocking certain subplots and various surprising developments. EDIT: Remaining Performance Issues. We know about them; they might even be hotfixed before Clarke. EDIT: Corvettes are too good.
Next two patches after that highlights
"ASIMOV" HIGHLIGHTS (NOT SET IN STONE!) Border Access Revision: Borders are now open to your ships by default, although empires can choose to Close their borders for another empire (lowering your relations, of course.) Tributaries: New diplomatic status and corresponding war goals. Joint Declarations of War: You can ask other empires to join you for a temporary alliance in a war against a specific target. Defensive Pacts. Harder to form and maintain proper Alliances. More war goals: Humiliate, Open Borders, Make Tributary, etc. Emancipation Faction. We had to cut this one at the last minute. Needs redesign. Diplomatic Map Mode. Much requested! Diplomatic Incidents: This is a whole class of new scripted events that causes more interaction with the other empires. Past “Asimov”, I can’t give you any kind of specifics yet, but I am currently leaning towards honing in on the following general areas for the “Heinlein” update (these are not promises!):

CURRENT "HEINLEIN" INTENTIONS Sector and Faction Politics: We are working on a design for this. I always wanted to make Factions more closely tied to Sectors, for example... Federation and Alliance Politics: As a player, you need more ways of interacting with the other members, push your will through, and get elected, etc. Giving Directions to Allies and Subject States. Strategic Resource Overhaul: You should need these and search for them far and wide. They should be extremely important. Battleship Class Weapons. Some Battleship front sections will be repurposed for an XL size weapon slot. There are currently four ship sizes but only three sizes to weapons, creating an imbalance. Also, Battleships should have fewer small weapon slots and have to rely on screens of smaller ships. Fleet Combat Mechanics: Formations and/or more complex ship behavior is needed. Mid-game scripted content: Guarded “treasures”, mid-game crises, colony events, etc. Living Solar Systems: Little civilian ships moving around, etc.
The worst thing about this game is how you can no longer order your fleet around once they enter 'combat'. All the time I end up with a stupid blob of ships stuck between two other fleets/stations, firing off one long distance weapon a month because none of the shorter range ships can decide on which target to go for. Absolute idiocy.
I do appreciate them adding the ability to move freely across empire borders unless specifically being refuse access, as silly as it may seem. So many event chains end up unfinished so early on because a system I need to survey ends up being within another empire's borders.
I've never once finished any of the precursor chains because i run out of worlds to survey ~100 years in But then I conquer places and suddenly can discover anomalies again Also don't ever trade star charts. You won't be able to find anomalies in those systems, since you cannot survey them.

I've had systems stolen from me with that.
So this might be some very odd glitches happening in lategame, but some of the alien vessels appearing belong to existing primitive societies or underground civilisations?
Perhaps someone can help me out, I just won a war and ceded 3 planets, why they all went to me and didn't split to my allies I am not sure, but I am haemorrhaging energy credits now due to this and the population is all revolting. I thought it would be right and just to murder all the inhabitants on the planet apart from the robots, but apparently structures are still being destroyed after the enemy pop is removed? My species has a 60% habitability rate so I figured id just move my friendly bunch in there!
When I used the Overnight command I got shoved into Observer and lost control of my empire what did i do
When I used the Overnight command I got shoved into Observer and lost control of my empire what did i do
well it is meant for running the game overnight not for playing it overnight if you wanna get back in do play 00
So the swarm crisis just popped up for me... On a scale of one to fucked, how fucked am I?
So the swarm crisis just popped up for me... On a scale of one to fucked, how fucked am I?
Eh, when they showed up for me I was rolling around with a 90k fleet and about 50k in vassal. They were maxing out at 25k or so against me and were wiped out in a little under 2 ingame years.
So with the swarm crisis, do their missiles completely ignore point defence or is my game just bugged??
So me and my my bf found a fallen empire and decided to take it over Both us and our vassals had a combined fleet strength of over 200k :v

I really wish in Stellaris there would be some sort of event or modifier in the case of you bumping into another species that is same race as you. For instance, I found another human race and I think a "Holy shit another race of humans!" dialogue option would have been appropriate.

Anyone know what happens if you encounter the opposite race of humans though? Like, the Earth group finds the militaristic colony group, or vice versa? And on top of that, are the destroyed sections of ring worlds repairable?

what a bunch of scrubs, not 100% tomb world HAH I found these guys on an ocean world, makes me wonder how the fuck they became like this.
I also found irradiated molluscoids in an ocean world, and i never ran into a tomb world. Probably an oversight.
