Paradox Interactive Thread: V3 'Check out my sick Germany blob'

I don't really like how happiness is tied to a planet's habitability. I feel like it should just be a production and growth penalty. The colonists would probably be living in some sort of arcology anyways. Distance from empire capital and or sector capital should be bigger determining factors.
Combat/Formation AI is in dire need of a serious overhaul.
Even if I win a battle, I always seem to lose 1 or 2 big ships because instead of staying behind the screen of small ships equipped with missile defense systems and firing their big guns at a distance, taking advantage of the longer range of its weaponry as it should be, they prefer to spearhead the assault (in wedge formation, so the first target engaged by the enemy is the big ship leading the formation) and brawl in close quarters, usually eating a fucking gazillion torpedos/missiles in the process, losing half of its hp or mode before being able to engage a single enemy.
Steam overlay in stellaris is enabled and I've validated the steam files but I just don't have a steam overlay. Can't seem to get it to work
So all my leaders are dying of old age now and I don't even get enough influence to keep up with the death tolls, shit

Research the lifespan increase, they are REALLY helpful.

For some reason they haven't appeared as options yet, which sucks because now I'm losing all of my starting leaders and can't afford new ones unless I sacrifice the frontier outpost holding the system that finances all of my economy with its strategic resources

Most of these techs come in pretty late, but you can declare some rivals until then.
Also, does anyone else think that the current fleet sizes are maybe a bit of a clusterfuck ? 200 ships for a handful of worlds feels a bit overkill. Anything involving larger empires and the AI will form these planet-sized ship blobs that aren't enjoyable to look at.
Actually, shit would be immensely better if there was a ship limit based on ship class for each fleet, and if the AI was changed to avoid the bunching-up behavior.
I've never seen them attack more than one place at once, it's always these massive fucking blobs playing catch across the galaxy. It's not particularly interesting and wars tend to be over after a single battle, followed by a few months of taking out small reinforcements and stations.

You need to enable the beta in steam for it to work.
This Hotfix contains:
- Fixed Planet capital modifier being spammed.
- Fixed CTD caused by ground combat side containing invalid armies.
- Fixed issue with disabling everything in Outliner would render it unusable.
- Fixed issue with orbital bombardment of swarm invaders.
- Removed shortcut from "help" button to avoid colliding with fleet "hold" shortcut.
- Performance optimizations caused by huge amounts of resource stations.
- Ship designer: List of designs is sorted according to ship sizes.
In other news:
Development of both the 1.1 (CLARKE) and 1.2 (ASIMOV) updates are progressing according to schedule. Our intention is to release 1.1 as a beta patch late next week.
Psst *Shifty eyes*
Put your frontier outposts into a sector.
Aaand a new CK2 Dev Diary
It's about making more death sounds, I wont bother to expand all the youtube links since they're just sounds. Nothing new on the new DLC, its pretty clear that CK2 is reaching the end of its lifespan from the recent dev diaries.
Hi!
It is my (Metal King, Audio Designer) turn to write a DD for CK2 and it is about something that perhaps we don’t mention that often: Audio.
Or more specific for this entry; Death Screams & SFX.
For the new expansion I got an important task, it was to create new sound effects for executing characters and also create assets for other ways different characters can die in the game such as falling off a balcony or being mauled by a bear.
So basically for this task I did a bunch of research to see how cruel people were back in the days and how “creative” they could be when executing people.
I needed to create a lot of “gore” sound effects so to achieve this I went out and did some grocery shopping .
The leek and celery were to recreate some “sweet” and intense bone cracking sound effects while the pepper and salad were to create a “slow crushing” sound effect.
The big problem for this task was a major one; Screams. And a lot of them.
So I took the opportunity to do some internal auditions and invited co-workers to the torture chamber aka sound studio.
Another challenge was to get people to sound like they are… dying? I got to do a lot of “dummy” recordings where you could hear me die in different ways, and some of these recordings made their way into the expansion as well, so my co-workers could get to “dub” me or have some kind of a reference.
I’ll not tell you who is dying, that is up to you to guess. \m/

goddamn those first two files
i think i'll lay down for a while
The first one with the impaling doesn't actually sound like she's being impaled. More like undisturbed moaning with a gushing sound played over it.
"expansion pass 1"
hahahahaha
I might grab the colonel version.
So how exactly do I actually wipe out Prethoryns? I can't seem to actually clear their planets or anything.
So how exactly do I actually wipe out Prethoryns? I can't seem to actually clear their planets or anything.
Unless you have the unofficial fix or the beta patch it's broken - you're meant to be able to just bombard the planets til the infestation is gone.

(the mod should be savegame compatible btw; at least it was for us :v:)
This is the smoothest launch of a Paradox game I've ever seen, but its still a Paradox game at launch.
So can someone explain if this is supposed to be this way?
I went to war with an empire in an alliance, within said alliance were 2 other empires. After fighting the main one I wanted to, I noticed that the other 2 empires they sided with have absolutely no way of getting me nor a way of helping the former empire I'm currently destroying due to being on the other side of the galaxy and blocked off with no viable routes due to being stuck behind a ton of other empires. Now I have all their planets invaded and occupied they have no fleets, no spaceports to build more fleets and nor do they have any extra frontier outposts and so forth.
Yet no matter what they will NOT just surrender and give up. Which if their allies could actually reach me and assist them I'd understand. But it seems the AI cannot tell that they have zero help coming. Nor can then tell that my fleets are like 10-15k above theirs and their allies combined. So I'm stuck here in a war that won't end, because the AI are way too stupid to realise that they can not in any way shape or form come back against me, the only way to end this war is for me to declare peace, and end up with like 1 of the 4 planets I set in my wargoals, because otherwise I cannot end said war.
Anyone else get this problem, because it is driving me up the goddamn wall.
Keeps happening and is driving me up the fucking wall.

This is without mods or anything just Vanilla 1.0.2 This game needs some serious bugfixing, cause this along with all the graphical glitches and so forth is starting to kill my motivation.

Have you ever heard someone being impaled? :v:
I'll probably grab the Colonel Edition.
The items in the field marshal edition really isn't worth it.
By the time the expansions come out I'll have enough money to buy them anyways.
[editline]17th May 2016[/editline]
Then again, I really don't care about the accuracy of the models, I'll probably turn them off. I'll go with the Cadet.
[editline]17th May 2016[/editline]
GMG has a 25% discount code for all 3 editions
IRON25

and now multiple season passes too, what a fucking joke.
Tomorrow they're doing a HOI4 modding stream, next week is back to WWW, but afterwords another modding stream If I understand correctly.
And they'll be doing this until launch.
and now multiple season passes too, what a fucking joke.
Doesn't matter since you can disable 3d models.
Any mods the community makes is going to blow whatever the fuck PI is making out of the water anyway.
Also BIce has some of the worst map graphic icons I've ever seen what the fuck is this??
GOLD COINS, BATTERIES, AND BRICKS.
That airfield graphic, that coastal fort.

Those tree's taken from 50m up in the air. Whats wrong with the vanilla satmap? The older stylized map they had was way better. I feel like the mod is getting progressively worse as they run out of things to jam in it.
So I found out that when you make a new species in the "New Game" section and then go and load an existing game, they can appear in your existing game as primitive civilizations.
Now I have to worry about someone else uplifting machine-age Anti-Spirals to use against me. :v:
Doesn't matter since you can disable 3d models.
that doesn't excuse them from having a shitty ass DLC practice, from unique models from all major factions being ripped out for preorder bonuses, to whatever their "Expansions" are going to have.

I'm not going to agree with it either, I don't support or buy their DLC's either. To play devils advocate on a long term scale for a game to keep development on it the team needs a source of revenue to justify it.
Alright guys I have a moral problem.
The Xansh Separatist Fighters want an independent Xansh sector, which consists of three of my planets. I just got a mission stating that a meteor is heading towards Xansh, which would result in an extinction event.
Should I continue dealing with the XSF or just let the meteor fix the problem for me?
edit: Oh wait there's only a single robot inhabiting that planet. That won't solve anything. :v:
