The patch notes mention you no longer need to control planets to demand them in a war but I've had the AI give me planets without me ever invading so I don't think that system ever worked in the first place.

Woah that's a big nerf to evasion.

the AI would give you unoccupied planets in their own peace offer, but you could not demand them yourself if you were making the offer. Now you can, so you can steal the backside of an empire and not even take your wargoals, like in old EU3/4

Probably to stop the Corvette spam.
lmao i joined a friends game and i just randomly picked an empire
i got the fucking primitive empire that just made it past the early space age. literally no resources, no ships, no leaders
it's been like 4 years and i've finally gotten to the default starting point that every other starting empire gets
fucking kill meeeee

Has anyone else seen this government type? I don't recall seeing it in the wiki.
Maybe they've stealth patched in an actual government type for hiveminds?
For people on trains or otherwise disconnected from the internet - the game ships with an offline version of the wiki as well you can decide to use instead.
That is pretty neat.

I couldn't afford it and my birthday is coming up so I am pleasantly surprised by this!
Would be wonderful to have all that placeholder information offline.
Looks like beta players and devs are fleshing it out. Check the recently changed page

Weirdly enough I haven't applied the new beta patch yet. checked through my mods and none of them add new government types

This has to stop.

I can't find anything when searching for it... Spooky. I want to play as a collective consciousness..
So I sent some 'off-world robots' in a colony ship to colonise a couple barren planets (More technologies mod) to make mining outposts out of them.
All was going fine until I got an event on one of the planets. Some kind of subterranean species was alive in the planet and coming to the surface to (presumably) attack.
Given the option to either make contact or do something else I forget, I made contact and chose to tell them "my planet now, be good or die" (ayy, militarist RP) and they didn't like that, so started attacking the colony and eventually took control.
Since they were shitlords I quickly ousted their defenders once my armies got there and retook the colony, but it's had an interesting knock-on effect... I now have an organic race in my empire that's good at colonising cold-barren and barren planets, since that's technically their homeworld type.

Also +60% Tomb World habitability, ayyyyyy.
[editline]a[/editline]
Oh god, now the galactic map is showing almost every single solar system as colonisable.

Is colonizing barren planets a mod because I've never been able to get close, and that habitability tooltip for the species is obviously not complete.
Colonising the barren planets (and other ones like toxic, molten, etc) is part of the extra tech mod, but the barren preference trait is vanilla AFAIK, it's just not meant to be available under normal circumstances :v:
Here's the mod if you're curious: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=683851819
The mod adds some pretty cool buildings too, like ones that output a mix of resources to put onto the tiles with mixed base resources.

I had the robot uprising event, and it fucked half the galaxy up, but they were stuck as Omicron Aliens, none of their territory showed up like a regular empire, and I couldn't research them to establish communications. Just random populated planets within no one's borders with bots on them.

The console command for Political power has 'fuhrer_mana' as an alternative.
So how is Stellaris? It looks really good, reminds me of the Spore space stage but way deeper. Though I've seen some mixed reviews, people saying "it's great but feels lacking"

I mean, I'm having a good amount of fun with it, and workshop mods will definitely give you some extra playtime.
IMO it's probably best to wait a year for a bit of DLC to come out and the base game to go on sale unless you're dying to play MP.

Suppose it might get a small discount come summer sale?

It's one of those games where some people think it's the second coming of christ and others say it's good but lacking, so I'd probably wait a bit.

So is this a bug or has Admiral Cax evolved into an immortal higher form of life?

it is accumulating death to finally die circa 300 years and release all that extra age as a mega blast to annihilate the whole galaxy
Or you know, it may be just a % bug.
