I wonder if I can conquer Cuba as Canada in HOI4 without pissing anyone off. Canadians need vacations too.
Unless they are protected by the US i don't see why you can't do that in HOI3. Playing as the US i conquered Canada, and pretty much the whole south american continent except Brazil and Argentina was my puppet and nobody gave two shits.
HOI has always been about the War, I can't see the expansions doing anything to change that Maybe a timeline extension to 1933. An WW3 scenario maybe, but only immediately after WW2 Cold War would require an all new tech tree and stuff I can't see happening with just an expansion pack. Cold War needs to be its own game The expansions will most likely be centered around war, or events before it
My guess is the just integrated east and west into an expansion for HOI4, since new engine and whatnot. E&W beta seemed almost like a copy and paste of HOI3.
EvW was made off HOI3 like how Darkest Hour was made out of HOI2. Basically a mod with source code access.
Dream game, of course, is just Darkest Hour with upgraded graphics and the fluidity of MixedMod
Why don't they just put a Nazi flag in all versions of the game barring the German and Austrian versions? (and maybe French) I'm not well versed on the topic, but didn't Valve create separate versions of L4D2 for Australia and Germany? Not only that, but those two versions were different from each other even.
It might make them incompatible for Multiplayer.
They could easily make a clause that lets the Nazi Germany flag sprite be different, or whatever, while still having compatibility between versions. EASILY.
It might make them incompatible for Multiplayer.
IIRC gfx doesn't change the checksum. And tbh it shouldn't because it doesn't affect the game in any way.
Did they change Canada's flag? [t]http://puu.sh/gdOmM/cea9a29763.jpg[/t] I recall it being the Red Ensign.
This weekend will forever be known as the day nobody went to work.
Oh man, I've just got gifted a Europa Universalis IV collection
oh man you can basically make a fantasy world with the new in-game options with el dorito, this makes me all kinds of hot and bothered! [editline]26th February 2015[/editline] [del]I think random setup is borked, it doesn't generate other countries even when you start the game.[/del] Edit: Never mind, it's WAD

For customizing countries with EU4 El Dorito it kinda sucks you can't randomize anything other than country leader names and flag stuff, though. But I love the idea of being able to do all of this begin with since it eliminates altogether having to (tediously) mess with modding all the game files themselves. What also slightly irks me is when you're editing a custom nation, you can't have them put down a core or claim on others. I mean, not that it matters because AI in eu4 loves to claim and shit like the fucking plague anyway but I think it would still be nice to have. Edit: Another slight, insignificant complaint: You can't customize the religion/culture of every province (of a custom nation) either. So I think every custom nation's provinces are uniform in religion and culture. Kind of a bummel without resorting to modding the game files, but that's that.
in all fairness, adding countries was probably the easiest thing you could do in EUIV. Wouldn't be very tedious to do so.
in all fairness, adding countries was probably the easiest thing you could do in EUIV. Wouldn't be very tedious to do so.
I'm not saying it's hard, it really isn't. It really is the easiest thing you can do in a PI game, hell, it's easy in any PI game and I say that from experience. But the thing is its unbelievably tedious especially when you're covering a lot of countries. [editline]26th February 2015[/editline] The custom editor makes that easier since it cuts out all the time and hours modding files and all that really fun stuff. However it isn't that advanced, unfortunately, so you can't flesh out worlds too much, like making a huge empire have a shit ton of different cultures and religions and possible break away countries, and set the seeds for conflict and rivalry by setting claims and cores on other custom nations and stuff. When I was doing my (now dead) afghan megacampaign, for some reason EU4 liked to reset all my modded coring for countries that didn't exist at the time when I converted from ck2. As a example, England was conquered just a few decades before I converted over to EU4. Or a huge ottoman empire not having a whole bunch of differet countries since they have a whole bunch of different cultures and stuff. And better yet, I'd appreciated if there was actually some sort of diplomacy editor as well in the custom country editor, like setting marriages, on-going wars, peace treaties between countries and the like before starting the game. Again, this isn't hard to do at all and I could very easily make it so with some modding magic. I think there's a lot of potential this editor could've had; PI definitely delivered there is no question about that. I'm very glad it exists, but there's a lot of features I vehemently wished it had.
I keep trying to connect to servers but keep getting kicked almost immediately.
Random nations and custom nations are so nice.
Random nations and custom nations are so nice.
I'm kinda bothered there's a 33 custom nation cap (that I can't even find in the goddamn files) and beside the tiny complaints I mentioned above they are rather nice additions to the game.
I give it a good week before modders tear El Dorito to shreds and add things like Hellenic and Tengri or whatnot

Now I wonder, is it possible to edit the amount of points you get as a custom nation? Some of my borders would have been perfect were I able to get 1000 points instead of 800

That mod has its own 'defines' file so you'll need to edit that one or it will override your changes. And last thing (I'm sick and on my laptop so can't check on desktop) Can you edit it to change the total amount of custom nations too?
And last thing (I'm sick and on my laptop so can't check on desktop) Can you edit it to change the total amount of custom nations too?
This seems to be hardcoded; I asked the modder for the mod above on his comment page if he could possibly look into changing that. As it stands right now there seems to be nothing you can do short of turning a save into a bookmark and adding more that with claustzwitz editor. Edit: I should also mention you cannot save a custom world and attempt to come back to edit later in any way aside from what I mentioned about the bookmark thing, even without being in ironman mode.
