Read this post: All of you agreed with that post, a post that just reeks of that "we're better than you" attitude.
All he said was he thought it was a bit more neutral here. If you really think that means "we're better than you" then you maybe need to step back and take a break. You've literally already tried to claim that people disagreeing with the price is a "torrent of hatred" so...
It's funny, because I remember back in the Hearts of Iron 2 days and stuff I loved that Paradox still did full expansion packs instead of thin pricey content packs. It's a shame that the company's business practices in DLC come out as the major discussion right now. These games are some of the best fun I have in videogaming now - EUIV, CK2, Vicky 2, and even Stellaris are my favorites. It is a big shame that they continue having the systematic problems with their releases, but they are the only ones who really scratch my itch. Very comfy. Now I probably will still buy Stellaris' "expansions" (the updates that make it into a full game), because I'm invested in the company, but I wish I could convince them that this is a toxic shitty way to approach it.
Honestly Paradox's (and Creative Assembly's for that matter) business methods have pushed me into more hardcore grand strategy games. While they do tend to have a steep inital price and can be daunting to newcomers, they're a much more satisfying experience for me atm. Like, I still enjoy going back to Pdox and Total War, they still have their moments but the buisness practices especially have pushed me away from buying the new stuff pretty much entirely.
I've got to admit, I love playing Paradox Grand Strategy games so I'd expect this to be one of my most visited threads in General Games Discussion but as a whole this thread seems disproportionately negative about a lot of stuff, to the point where I wonder if you even like the games or if you're all just out playing Darkest Hour or Kaiserreich or whatever griping about how good things used to be That's not to say that that Paradox is blameless - it's got some shitty business practices for sure - it just seems the complaining and overreacting far outweighs the cool stuff people do or the discussions where they talk about what's fun and interesting in the games. /rant [editline]6th August 2016[/editline] On a different note, any interesting countries to try in HoI4? I've mostly played as Germany, Sweden, Turkey and the US. Not sure about playing Britain or Japan because I am awful at naval combat.
Every single Games megathread seems like this, though. You should see the Fallout and Elder Scrolls Threads. It is just folks talking about how much they hate the games and trying to mod them into being likable, only to get bored after 15 minutes of play and rant again. Same thing happens here.
Someone on 4chan figured out you can remove two lines of text to get the DLC for free :v:
Holy shit, I as curious about how easy it if for someone to do so, this is coming from someone who is unfamiliar with Pdox modding and shit. Found two files that you need to edit and you get the whole pack, portraits, ships, city graphics in five minutes. :v:
All of you agreed with that post, a post that just reeks of that "we're better than you" attitude.
Idk how you misconstrued it that badly, its literally just "we have different opinions".
this game Also I love when its 1944 and all european axis countries have escaped to Africa after they've surrendered, it gives that true ww2 experience
If they add China it would just confirm the idea that the CKII team has no idea what it's doing.
[sp]Calling it now, they're gonna add China in at some point and we'll be back to square one on shitty performance[/sp]
I doubt it. From what I remember, making India was a hellish gamble of theirs and after Rajas they basically abandoned it altogether
Just finished a Hamburg Exodus run :v: [IMG_thumb]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/446239754096751388/F043BE6F9084F52006C064958F73195ED93C1200/[/IMG_thumb] Along the way, France, Spain, the Ottomans and Russia were all destroyed with Denmark displaced. Now if they can fix the MP being nearly unplayable that'd be great.
I rather wish the guy that made the Dark Continent scenario for EUIV would update it. It was such a fun scenario in EUIII.
Victoria 3 please and thank you
Victoria 3 please and thank you
With what we saw in EUIV, HoI4 and Stellaris Noooothannnnnks
Victoria 3 please and thank you
There's no way they'd do it justice. They've been consistently streamlining all of their games and Victoria 2 was like the economic equivalent to HoI3.
Divergences of Darkness is really great. Is it still being developed?
Fuck vic, I want a Roman game.
I wouldn't mind another EU:Rome but tbh I never really got into the first one and would prefer Vicky 3. As complex as the economic model is in 2 it's so fundamentally broken in the late game it's absurd.

still think johan can suck a bag of dicks in the age of steam, £30 is not justifiable for a digital copy of CK2 digital tho, do the savings made by not incurring the costs of physical media not get passed onto the consumer? or is johan just greedy for his kroner?
Victoria 3 please and thank you
I can't wait to cause a massive economical crash in the world and starve billions of people again, god I love it.

The price is fine for me. Though CK2 has been out for a few years they should lower it.
Paradox is one of the few companies that sell their games under $60. The price is fine for me. Lower the price of the DLC permanently after a while, it gets ridiculously expensive for being out for a few years.
Paradox is one of the few companies that sell their games under $60. The price is fine for me. Though CK2 has been out for a few years they should lower it.
The vanilla retail copies of their games aren't worth $60 so I really hope it stays that way.

Just take hoi4 now, there's so much they could improve for free but no I bet you there will be atleast 3-4 major dlcs to add stupid content they could've added for free.
Paradox is one of the few companies that sell their games under $60. The price is fine for me. Though CK2 has been out for a few years they should lower it.
Don't you mean "AAA companies that sell their games under $60"? Because looking at the "popular new releases" on steam there literally isn't a single game on the first page at this moment that is more than $30, even disregarding launch sales.
Because all of those games are probably complete garbage
Only one of them currently has a negative user score but even you don't place much stock in that only 3 of the top sellers right now are above $35. Selling games for $40 is not that uncommon anymore.
Paradox is one of the few companies that sell their games under $60. The price is fine for me. Though CK2 has been out for a few years they should lower it.
But there are plenty of games that don't cost $60?
