Paradox Interactive Thread: V3 'Check out my sick Germany blob' - Games

Anyone have tips for invading Britain in HOI3 as Germany? I'm using BlackICE. I'm having trouble establishing a beachhead, I have my carriers providing support and my Battleships off the coast to help the Marines with bombardments but the Brits just immediately bumrush to the areas I'm invading. I'm also bombing from France but its hard to have aerial superiority against the RAF because I invested alot more IC into doing Plan Z. I'm making two beachheads at the mouth of the Thames and up in York but my guys get wiped out even if I can make it onto land.

I feel like shit right now. I'm playing Lollard Brittany and HRE has tanked everything and is massive, and I need to go invade the papacy for the glory of Lollardia. I've been gathering allies, like my Lollard family in Aquitaine, putting a Lollard family member on the Polish throne, and cinching an alliance with the (not as strong but still decent) Byantines. The final piece of the puzzel was Hungary, who is currently Waldensian. Their king doesn't want to marry his son off, but his daughter is a different story. Sadly, she is married to a Byzantine prince, who is by all accounts a cool dude. Kind, patient, humble, content, though a bit of a coward, he's pretty much a really cool dude. I invite her over, and I imagine her talking to him about what an adventure it will be and him finally relenting and traveling to exotic Greater Brittany with her. As soon as they get here I start giving her presents then plot on the prince's life. I also spy on him, and am told he's about to travel the country side with his friends, to see what being a peasant was like. So while one of the only good people in Europe is travelling, trying to learn more about the plight of the common folk with his best friends, my men murder his friends, kidnap him and I immediately have him executed. Then I marry his wife to my son. Now I feel absolutely terrible. I've killed children before in this game, as well as the mentally challenged and the elderly but for some reason I feel really bad now.

[editline]18th January 2015[/editline] I also think I should change my perspective in how I play CK2. I always attempt to do what I call cultural colonizing, in which I try to paint the world not only in nations, but also in who live in them. This results me over planning and managing shit in an attempt to stop those ugly ass culture horror shows that happen towards the late game, but I think I should just say fuck it and go with the flow and expand like a greedy shitlord Alexander would feel humbled by. Like right now in Charlemagne I got the idea of Mega-Germania in which I would create Subeia, Franconia, Lombardia, and Germania all under an Empire and settled with the correct cultures. Issues with that is I'd need to conquer all of these places, release kings and not of my dynasty so land transferring doesn't fuck it all up and so the cultures can spread correctly. I'd also want to change religions, perhaps conquer it all as a Sunni and then when I've settled into Germania release them and convert to either a catholic heresy or Norse.

Even then over straits is fucking awful with the huge amph modifiers, just getting a beachhead with no port is WAAAAAY better. I'm getting kinda frustrated, I think I waited to long they just encircle me with like 30 armor divisions. Might lose in this game, I was hoping to take Britain out so I could focus ALL of my forces in Russia and not deal with the Royal Navy or RAF. Then again my Navy destroys theirs. I have like 4 battleship fleets and 3 carrier task forces.

CK2 keeps trying to throw curve balls at any moment it's getting stupid. My oldest son that had 20 stewardship and midas touched dies from a common illness, fuck. The Andalusians rebel in the Second War for Indepence, my 12k army gets obliterated by their 10k one, forcing me to purchase mercenaries to merge with the remnants of my levies for one final charge that won me the war. NOT EVEN HALF A YEAR LATER, A THIRD ANDALUSIAN WAR FOR INDEPENDENCE HAPPENS AGAIN. My ruler contracts depression, becomes stressed, then contracts great pox. Becomes a lunatic some years later. Still going strong, this game keeps trying to end me.

The family held on as a bastion of Christianity for 100+ years, and in the process I married the Queen of Georgia, only to have Georgia obliterated by those damn Muslims before my heir could sit on the throne. Then finally I assassinated one local Imam too many and the Sultan cunt punted me out of my county. Good thing the dynasty had another branch holding a Duchy in the Byzantine empire (all those marriages paid off), so I could continue as them.

Man I sure love having 22 children only 3 of them being legitimate :v: #seduction

I love how in the one heretic game I've ever done, Christianity has managed to completely tank out the Muslims, who themselves have collapsed into heresies. I've taken two holy sites, defeated a crusade, converted four other countries and they're still at 100 authority.

Meanwhile in Iberia, Portugal(me) has Galicia and the Duchy of Seville under it's control by around ~1135. I plan to make a claim on Leon now that I have secured a betrothal with the child queen of Castille to my third son after her sisters suffered unfortunate "accidents", ensuring my dynasty will take over.

I even had colonies in Siberia, Hawaii, and the Philippines. Unfortunately the save got corrupted and it was on Ironman mode.

Its a MP game with another player as the Iroquois, and he has colonies in Africa, Australia, and Greenland, and I've got some in Hawaii. :v:

They really need to change the name of the Scottish eastern US colonies. Scottish Canada gets named "Nova Scotia", and Scottish Thirteen Colonies gets names "New Scotland", which is redundant, since "Nova Scotia" is "New Scotland" in Latin.

IDK, but HOI 4 looks like it could be a good one regarding strategic wargaming. The streamlined user interface, compared to the monster HOI 3 was, is very welcome and with some proper modding (No Kaiserreich == No buy) it can be a INSTANT CULT CLASSIC. Yeah, I'm very excited.

If I can't get into EU4, would I be able to find Victoria 2 or HoI3 interesting? EU4 just feels really cluttered with the interface and kind of frustrating to adapt to after playing so much CK2. More so on the technology and infrastructure system, where you could build whatever you wanted first in a holding provided you had the technology, but in EU4 it seems like you have to go in a specific order.
