I approve the post above By the way, I looked on Google but couldn't find an answer: in CK2 how do you give away a duchy title without all the counties of the duchy? Do I just give one county and then the title or will the duke gain the other counties automatically?
You know that option you get when you first start EU4 and it asks if you want to send in data? https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/eu4-dev-diary-june-18th.864104/ They posted a couple facts in this thread from it. These numbers are from the last month. For one it seems more people use Random new world then people who don't. Byzantium is played so little it is bundled under the 'other' Category of nations played by people Custom Nations are the most played nation. There are a few more facts scattered through out the thread.

A lot of people seem to play it just because it's muh roman empire, but apparently it's not enough players then.
*wipes tear away from eye* Deutschland.. [T]http://i.imgur.com/VfneuIl.jpg[/T] Whew. Now it is time to mobilize the 120,000 troops that are on my eastern border and eradicate Poland.
Hungary completely gone? Now that's an upsetting sight to see
Wow i'm surprised about Byzantium. If you don't get just the right alliances at the start you're pretty much fucked.
Why is France (my ally when I'm playing as Holland) sitting on a worthless fucking province spending 2+ years trying to siege it down when I have the war goal but both it and my capital are under siege, when our combined armies can easily crush both sieges and give us free reign to absolutely wreck Burgundy. For fucks sake and this is after they let half their initial army get ground to death after sending it piece by piece against massive stacks. I have attach to this unit checked and everything and I control all the forts leading up to the sieges so there isn't even a pathing problem. You know what happens next? I lose both forts, my army gets decimated, but I keep the war going just to see France get destroyed too. They lose all their army, I save the game, reload as Castille (who is also in the war) and just end them. My Holland playthrough is fucked though. AI is a fucking mess and a joke.
Paradox has never done AI well. It's ok at times but it's never really been good. I don't know how many times I was screaming inside while playing EUIII because the AI just sits there with it's massive doomstacks while I get my ass kicked one province away.
Yeah the AI should be improved. I'm currently halfway through conquering Ireland in CK2 and the enemy levies just stand on their territory waiting for me to stack my army and wreck Irish ass. On the other hand they let me wreck Irish ass :v:
They actually started out pretty strong this game, it was nice to see, then out of nowhere Austria broke their alliance with them and they got obliterated by their neighbors
Fucking Habsburgs.

Why you might ask? Because they are constantly over their fucking force limit in everything. The Ottoman navy is the worst in this. But Burgundy and some other countries are too. Even when Burgundy has like 3-4 provinces, they still have 15k men sitting in their capital.
Hey it's not as bad as Total War AI, which in recent games, won't even attack you unless they have double or triple the odds over you
Well the battles are easy so thats probably a good thing.
I love how ridiculously powerful you can get in EU IV's late game, I just conquered Egypt in a single war and constructed the Suez canal for the sole purpose of giving my troops a more direct route to India, which I subsequently invaded.
Who did you play as?
Question: Is there a way to know what action an AI does in CK2? I got an alert about Righteous Imprisonment but all I can know is that the guy acted dishonorably towards me. I want to know in detail
I love how ridiculously powerful you can get in EU IV's late game, I just conquered Egypt in a single war and constructed the Suez canal for the sole purpose of giving my troops a more direct route to India, which I subsequently invaded.
Thanks for reminding me that those incredibly stupid "build x canal" events are in the game.
Yeah it's so nonsensical, it's way too early for massive projects like that, they definitely should not be in the game.
Like there's a fucking reason why in Victoria 2 you need access to powerful steam tech to start doing that sorta thing.
There apparently was an ancient Suez canal but I'd wager ancient Egypt had much smaller ships than a ship of the line. I remember when they announced that they were going to add those events and the idiots on the paradox forums defended it as "but it's a sandbox game, I should be able to do it because alt history!".

Is there any way to force a vassal to convert to a Castle in CK2 short of revoking his title and doing it myself? I have a few counties in Ireland that are still tribes even with Stone Hillforts and aren't upgrading to become feudal.
What does tolerance of the true faith do?
What does tolerance of the true faith do?
If I remember correctly, it reduces revolt risk in provinces that follow your state religion.
Yeah it's so nonsensical, it's way too early for massive projects like that, they definitely should not be in the game.
It's not even that but you can make them so late in the game that you will use it only for a few years before the game ends so it's pretty much pointless.

Is there any good mod for EU4 that is set around the byzantine empire time?
Is there any good mod for EU4 that is set around the byzantine empire time?
The Byzantine's height was well before the date of the EU games. If you really want to play them in a decent position just play CK2.

CK2 Weekly Dev Diary #7: Silk Road and Raiding Adventurers
Hi all! I am Karolus Magnus, programmer at Crusader Kings II. Now is finally the time for my first dev diary! Today I will be talking about the Silk Road and Raiding Adventurers. With Horse Lords we are adding in an addition to the trade system which is the major trade route of the Silk Road that stretched all the way from Cathay to the Italian States. It does not require you to be a Patrician or Republic however to utilize this system. As long as you own the provinces yourself you are allowed to build Trade Posts along the trade route no matter what government form you are. You can upgrade these trade posts to make the Silk Road worth even more. However the Silk Road is much more dangerous to deal with than normal coastal trade posts as it relies on safe passage through land. If a war breaks out and a part of the trade route is caught in the conflict, the trade will be cut from that province and onwards for that branch. The trade will instead go through any other branch and result in them receiving more of the trade than they normally would. The Silk route can be viewed from the Economic mapmode but also in more detail from the Trade zone mapmode. Next feature is Raiding Adventurers. This system was made to better represent the Normans in Northern France and Sicily in how they settled in foreign land. It is also used for nomads who lose their home. The Germanic raiding adventurers spawn with ships, but even nomads who do not get ships can travel far, as these raiders unlike others can raid in any province (except the provinces of the one who conquered your home lands). Raiding adventurers will use the money they gain from raiding to recruit more troops, and when they have grown to a certain level, they will try to become landed. A ruler can offer to settle these raiding adventurers, giving them coastal or border provinces. They might however refuse to be settled if they do not like the lands that you are offering. Ambitious raiding adventurers will usually not be settled unless they are given a duchy. If no such offer is made however, they will eventually start a war on one of the rulers they have raided, targeting a duchy. The same Settle Adventurer interaction can be used to settle the dynamic mercenaries we already covered, if you have managed to make them your friend. Settled raiding adventurers will become Feudal or Iqta depending on their religion, and also be disinherited from the nomad realm from which they came from. One of the benefits of settling a raiding adventurer is that the provinces that are given away will be blocked from raided again in the near future. Raiding adventurers that do not spawn from being conquered as well as dynamic mercenaries will get the Adventurer trait that makes the character much more ambitious and military capable. So even if they give you several benefits to settle, they can become dangerous for your future generations. That's all for this week! Next week we are going to go through map and culture revisions and new events!

Another really good ck2 DLC I won't be able to afford still waiting for -75 way of life
It was heavily discounted in the Steam sale the other day, not sure if it was 75% off because I already had it but the DLC I did buy was. [editline]24th June 2015[/editline] Are there any good tutorial videos / series on youtube for EU4 for someone coming from CK2? Bought it and all the major DLC in the Steam sale but I'm assuming the ingame tutorial is shit like the CK2 one was.
