Funny how the "never forget" mindset and hate lawst have companies trying to act as if the event never happened.
PC culture at its finest.

EU Rome is pretty difficult.

I think EU Rome is the defining moment of Paradox as a studio. It's where they found something that was leagues better than what they were doing and started actually becoming such a widespread developer that's known today.
The problem with EU:Rome is that it's shit as well.
And it's proto-Crusader Kings, even worse than Sengoku.
I probably wouldn't want a new EU:Rome. If the DLC practices of EUIV and CK2 are anything to go by, it'd be crumbs.

They just don't want to make 2 different versions of the game like a lot of companies do.

I don't see how that applies to a ban on any mods containing anything that that involve the Swastika or the Holocaust
or the Holocaust
I think it is the fact they don't want mods that allow you, the player, order it to be done.
As for Nanjing. Was that something ordered by the government, or done by the soldiers by their own volition?
If it is the latter, then it is probably talked about in game because the player does not order it to happen.
AFAIK the Paradox rules don't allow any mods on their forums that allow genocide or the targeting of civilians.
That is why you can only bomb strategic targets in Hearts of Iron and the casualties only mention soldiers.
Also the flag you're using for Germany in your screenshots is fine, it is the same one being used in HOI4.

Trail of Tears? March to the Sea? "Kill Natives" button in EUIV? I mean like, goddamn there's the fuckin crusades in CK2 it's literally named that.

I really don't like the double standards/weenieness of Paradox

... It is more controversial?
I've always heard more about the holocaust in school then any of those.

Alright. As much as the DLC practices get pooped at, even by me, this seems to be really fucking neat.
[sp]also because I'm a nomadophile[/sp]

Nanjing was originally perpetrated by the soldiers but the Officers and Generals turned a blind eye to it for quiet some time regarding it simply as "boys being boys" (not a quote, but rather an idiom). Its still a major issue today with government officials denying it ever happened and calling it Chinese/western propaganda and it gets into a whole nother slew of issues like Japanese nationalism post WWII. While it may not have been started by the Government directly they just threw a blanket over the metaphorical issue and try to ignore the bloating festering corpse under it to this day. One also needs to remeber that in Imperial Japan the civilian government often had little say in matters, the Military called the shots until the end of the war
The nature of the holocaust is also rather ambiguous from the historical research I've read, the Nazi government was set up so that ranking officials would compete against another and often schemed to win favors with Hitler. Some believe that the Holocaust had no 'set' plan, but was rather an idea that Nazi officials kept making bolder and bolder, first with deportation and at last the full out mass genocide of the Jewish people. Other people believe Hitler had the idea and steps fully in mind, its been quite some time since I've read on the political nature and bureaucracy of the Nazi government so take it with a grain of salt.
Weekly Dev Diary #9 - Events
Hello everyone!
Today is Tuesday and that means it’s time for another fascinating Developer Diary. My name is Divine and I’ve been part of the Crusader Kings team since last autumn as a scripter and now I’m going to tell you about some of the events that we’ve been working on for the soon-to-be-released expansion, Horse Lords!

If you control a part of the Silk Road you can now build trade posts to make sure to get some of the riches that is traveling along the route. However, there might be more people who want a share of the wealth, so you’ll probably have to guard your treasure chests. There’s also a possibility to gain the help of a trade governor who might attract more traders and riches to your land... or his mishaps might prove to be more of a headache for you to cope with.
As mentioned in a previous dev diary, rulers on the Steppe can send out their sons and brothers to take up arms and become mercenaries. The life of a mercenary, though, is a harsh one and a lot of things can happen when you’re out adventuring in a foreign court; so we’ve added some events about various things that can occur for the captain of such a created mercenary band.

For instance, the Mercenary Captain, being on the field fighting for a living, has a chance to improve his military education trait to one of the stronger ones. These mercenaries also get a few events to interact with their employer or the ruler of the province they are hanging out in. One of these events is for instance eloping with a person of the employer’s court. It can be a daughter, son or a skilled courtier.
Since the Mercenary Captain is earning his keep from being hired he also gets some choices on what to spend it on. For example, improving his Band of Mercenaries or spend it all on women and vice.

A ruler of the Steppe was not much of a ruler unless his clan had a thriving herd of livestock to support them. Thus, it is only natural that we needed to have some events about horses! If you’re living on the Steppes as a nomad, you can now adopt a favorite war horse. There are some events associated with having a horse and what you do together with it - both ordinary and unusual happenings.
So that’s a little sneak peek of the things that can happen on the wide Steppes and everything I had to say for today. I hope you are all hyped for the upcoming expansion that is now just a week away!
Oh! And I might actually have heard legends about certain altaic families behaving in odd ways lately… with hideous faces and beast-like behavior.
CK2 is great fun. I somehow ended up with control of all of the middle east after a crusade as Venice and I converted Mecca to Christianity and tried establishing contact with India.
I need to play more CK2, I haven't graduated from Ireland yet.

No genocide = No genocides denied by any government.
I can't wait to play as one of the Cumans in 1066 and attempt to migrate my tribe into Scandinavia then settle.
I just got screwed in my Brandenburg iron man game because of a bug. I joined a war with Sweden against the Teutonic Order, Livonian Order, and a few OPMs. So the war starts and we quickly siege down the OPMs. Sweden immediately peaces them out... but left his army in one of them as he did the peace deal. This exiled his entire army that he then sat in my capital for 10 years as I tried to fight both Orders on my own. This was early in the game (1450s) and there was no way for me to win.
Take 50 loans and spam mercs.
Oh, I know it's possible, but I'll probably just restart since the game is so early on. It's just frustrating to lose a war that should have been fairly easy because of buggy AI.
Is it normal for HPP 3.3.3 patch B to crash every 3 months? [HOI 3 TFH]

That's not really a bug. Even if his army had been moved home it wouldn't have changedthe fact that the AI peaced out and left you one your own.

2.4 Changelog for CK2
I'll post some interesting changes here
- Revised the pagan Subjugation CB so that it completely subjugates the target but no Holdings change hands
- Reduced size of savegames ( up to 15% smaller lategame )
- Optimized fatwa, zun judgement, blinding and castrate decisions to no longer completely kill performance when enormous empires have started forming.
- Optimized pathfinding code
- Added tribal tax and levy laws.
- Added a government mapmode.
- You can now freely move your capital to holdings which are not supported by your government, but doing so will not automatically change the government you have.
- Flank leaders can now only be the ruler, your marshal or a vassal or courtier with a commander title.
- Handsome and lustful men now also populate the cabins in the wild for the pleasures of people who find them attractive.
And the worst change of all
- Must now be at least a king level ruler in order to expel the Jews.
Retinues it seems got a major nerf and modding got a ton of new tools to play with.
You can now freely move your capital to holdings which are not supported by your government, but doing so will not automatically change the government you have.
MMM fuckin' delicious.
Also this will stop random "you are now a republic" or "you are now a theocracy" crashes when switching your capital to somewhere like Rome.
Thing is that im already using it
Delete all your files inside C:\Users\Sean\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron III\HPP\logs
Do that anytime a mod crashes to purge the logs, it does something weird.
That's not really a bug. Even if his army had been moved home it wouldn't have changedthe fact that the AI peaced out and left you one your own.
No, the AI sepparate peaced out the OPM from the war. Sweden was the warleader.

Holy shit, did Germany began a new WW by annexing Luxemburg at the time this was made?
