BUT NO. WE GOTTA HAVE HOT MEMES!
What
He's saying it oddly but his point is that they could have focused dev into actually fleshing out religions we already had in regions we already had that desperately needed it instead of making really weird obscure stuff. AKA the entirety of Charlemagne. [editline]22nd January 2015[/editline] IMO, the best way to describe CK2 is if you have a glass of light chocolate milk, perfectly good to drink on its own and many people think it's perfectly fine, but Paradox wants to make it more chocolaty. Instead of adding more chocolate though, they just keep pouring in more milk and making the glass bigger.
Well my ironman game was going great then austria got a random PU over me... vs GB, it's going to be a LONG war before I can even declare for independence. Edit: Nevermind, I got out pretty easily. (8 morale vs 4 morale)
Maybe we should have a FP game around. Either EUIV or HOI3, might as well be CK2 too but the former two are more prized in MP IMHO (i.e. makes a bigger difference.) Something serious, like a weekly schedule, thread on Paradox Forums etc. Might as well make it FP exclusive if we reach such a consensus though. I'd start it myself if not for a shitty internet connection.
In these sorts of games I always end up being a tyrant ruler, crushing all rebellions with sheer force, caring not a single thought for their morale. I managed to start with Brittany and form the British Empire and take Normandy and some of Spain, then my save file was mysteriously lost and rip. (Crusader Kings 2) There was absolute crown power in place in all my nations, if they rebelled I beat them up. I was constantly at war, for eons at a time. Of course fucking Ireland was the one initiating 70% of rebellions, 20% was Cornwall, the rest 10% was scattered across my non-brittany-still-Britain counties.
Fuck, right when i can get a good wife. Nope, she dies at 1st childbirth. DAMN YOU, God. May Alfhild Aslaksdatter rest in peace.
You have no idea how much this fucking pissed me off. We could have had an actual Germanic religion. We could have had more Zoroastrian and Pagan flavour. We could have had an actual Schism. BUT NO. WE GOTTA HAVE HOT MEMES!
But I want to Praise the Sun and the game doesn't include Sol Invictus. It's strange how Orthodox/Catholic are treated as separate though, they should've made Chalcedonian Christianity as the default for Europe and introduced the Schism as an event.
Have some 4k Paradox Games because I was bored. I tried Darkest Hour but it didn't show properly. Also EU4 is a mod, but the map is basically the same. They're all at Max Zoom out
So I obviously did some right on my first game ever that I still don't realize. Now, doing everything the 'right' way leaves me massively in debt. As Portugal, I have start off with Interventionism, encourage capitalists, keep taxes relatively low and spending as low as possible but enough for my military to stay slightly supplied in case Spain decides to buttfuck me for shits and giggles because God knows it will happen at one point, even with high relations. Colonize shit everywhere I can, although I'm starting to think I should encourage more colonial soldiers, cut back on mainland army to make room for some colonial divisions. How would keeping salary pay low for soldiers but their stockpile high work? Would a highly organized and supplied yet smaller army win a battle of logistics and luck against a army that has a 8:1 ratio against me but is very much struggling with supplying their forces? My artisans for some reason are always struggling, despite taxes low and tariffs at 0%. So I have no idea what the fuck is going on there. If I had the money to shit out some factories I would but all I can do is hope those capitalist fucks would hurry up and invest money more quickly.

As a note, move around the taxes just a tiny bit immediately after you're finished with the taxation techs because if I remember right there's this bug where it kills your POPs if you don't. If you're able to, I can't remember what govt portugal is, switch to a party that has SC or PE, because you have more control over what you can do but you might get some salty people when you do. And as I said in my previous post NF capitalists up to like 0.04%, 0.07% as it seems to help the region be productive.
How would keeping salary pay low for soldiers but their stockpile high work? And never keep salaries low, because it helps keep your army limits up, but mainly NF soldiers does the job here - you should to have that as high up as much as you possibility can. Only stockpile I think is what should be low, like 10% unless you're absolutely sure spain will attack you. If you're still desperate, then try allying with UK or France to deter them or something. but as portugal I don't think you'll be able to do really too much though
Finished my first EU4 ironman game. Check out my sick Germany blob.
shame the ui doesn't scale too good, it looks impossible to read
It is, which is sad.
Is it worth starting an ironman Netherlands game (starting as Freisland) before the expansion comes out? It does seem colonization-based and I have a Korea game going on so I'm considering putting it off.
Was just playing some CK2. Playing as the Doge of Venice, custom character in the 769 start date. Suddenly, only a while after my son is born, I am assassinated. However, I know who did it, and he becomes a rival to my entire family. This man, we'll call him Georgio. My son was about 4-ish when I died, so I then became Arno Ludwiger. I spent my entire fucking educated life preparing for this, swapping guardians to get the right traits, ensuring that my family would be chock full of powerful siblings. Meanwhile, Georgio's sons become rivals to me and my family as well, and one nearly has me killed. But no matter, they are my ultimate target. I waited, when I turned 15, I knew that I had one year left. I had an intrigue level of 10 already, and a diplomacy of 9, so I could bring people into my web no problem. And then, the day before my birthday... Georgio died of old age. My entire Inigo Montoya idea was fucking destroyed, it sucked so hard. So instead, I slept with all of the son's wives, assassinated the sons, and humiliated the mothers of the bastards.
http://www.eastvwestnews.com So apparently a group of modders is trying to bring EvsW into the life back.
So playing an ironman game as Denmark from a tribal start, I can say that the Merchant Empire of Scandinavia wouldn't be where it is today without the tireless work of Jomvsikings. Jomsvikings, you make your Fylkir proud.
4 player game, one person formed norway, one formed denmark, i formed sweden and absorbed another player and had him own a duchy. [t]http://puu.sh/eYkVn/5b2ce6d38a.jpg[/t] we ended up going to war with denmark because norway needed the land to actually become norway and it was fucking hilarious we all just dropped all of our prestige to fight, everyone had like 15k units instantly and denmark somehow almost won then we took a place in the uk next game its a bigass war between everyone to decide who gets to form the empire of Scandinavia, the rest will be king vassals
The fact that this game has multiplayer makes me regret not playing it during the free weekend.
If anyone wants to play EU4 multiplayer a few hours today, you can add me on Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/fyodordostoukr Edit: No game happened but there will be one tomorrow 7:00 PM GMT (I might miscalculate, fuck my time knowledge, 9:00 PM ukraine time.) Anyone is still welcome.
http://www.eastvwestnews.com So apparently a group of modders is trying to bring EvsW into the life back.
I wouldn't hold my breath, chances are Paradox is gonna take it down or something big needed to play it will be hard coded in.
Oh shit my Christians. I'm losing a war against Italy, some schlub declared an adventure against me and the Abbasid empire just declared war. Don't worry though, Jesus Christ wouldn't let the great empire of Christ fall! Would he?
Why are my factories all failing for no reason. You piece of shit I'm paying for all your input and you have a maximum capacity of workers why are you going bankrupt?!
The invisible hand works in mysterious ways.
http://www.eastvwestnews.com So apparently a group of modders is trying to bring EvsW into the life back.
Yeah, no way they can make that work with out the source code.
EVERYONE CLAP FOR JESUS SO HE CAN SAVE THE BYZANTINE EMPIRE! CLAP CLAP FOR FUCKING JESUS! HELP ME! CHRIST WHY WOULD YOU EVER FORSAKE A FAT, ANGRY, DECADENT, MONEY MOVING EMPEROR? I THOUGHT YOU WANTED THIS?!
Why are my factories all failing for no reason. You piece of shit I'm paying for all your input and you have a maximum capacity of workers why are you going bankrupt?!
don't subside if you have the choice, let them fail when they fail [editline]25th January 2015[/editline] except for military stuff, that I think is really the only things you should be perma subsiding. [editline]25th January 2015[/editline] From my experience subsiding for a really extended time (besides military factories) does way more harm than good, namely if you decide to take them off subsides, so if you're in, say, a democracy and go from conservatives to liberals and conservatives again your economy will probably suffer badly
