Kinda hoping Vicky 3 has a better balanced economy and some stuff for supply chains. Like.. you'll actually take debts for wars, run of oil/food during campaigns.
People already think Vicky 2 is super complex and refuse to play it. I highly doubt Paradox will add any more actual depth unless people stop being stupid.
It's seen especially in Victoria 2, since even by the 1920s you can have only 40-50k troops in a single area rather than a couple hundred thousand ala actual WW1
As much as I like Vicky 2 it does a meh job of transitioning from Napoleonic era armies to a WWI era continuous front.
Let's just hope it's not like Runemaster, which (iirc) just fell off the face of the fucking earth.
And Runemaster was titled "Nero", btw, as EU4 was "Truman"

Runemaster was cancelled but they said they won't announce stuff too early any more to prevent this from happening again.

I think someone in that thread had the right idea:
Seven Kings of Rome
Seven hills of Rome
Seven Emperors (and period; Rome, history)
Julius Caesar, Augustus, Galba, Hadrian, Nerva, Sallust, Vespasian
but maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see.
they said it was a new IP though so Rome is pretty much out of the question
they said it was a new IP though so Rome is pretty much out of the question
It can be a new ip set in antiquity though. When did Rome come out? 2007? 2008?
A Song of Ice and Fire: Seven Kingdoms and Three-eyed crow.
I hope it is set in antiquity and starts in 508 BCE, whenever Athens became a democracy. I'm not sure when it would end around, probably covering at least a substantial amount of time for the Roman Empire. 27 BCE would have to be a bookmark, and I should think 480 BCE for the start of the second Persian invasion.
It could be a new Rome IP. If it's a game with a focus on characters rather than an EU type thing it might make sense for it not to be called Rome II.
Or it could be about the warring states period?
My fingers are crossed for anything Rome related
Man, I really can't stand sore losers.
I was playing EU4 with a few mates of mine and I ended up as a superpower pretty quick, being number one in every aspect (military size, naval size, economy, trade, provinces etc). I ended up muscling my rival out of his own trade nodes and ruining his economy, making him unable to sustain the huge merc army he had and leaving him open to invasion, which I was just about to do as the game crashed and the save was corrupted. I didn't want to fuck with him, but he funded rebels when I had just taken a bunch of new provinces and then tried to take one of my vassals.
We decided to play a custom/random nation game next, and he straight up took all the major trade routes of Europe and surrounded me with huge nations with 6/6/6 leaders and heirs and changed them to have the same culture as his so he could ally with them because he was upset that I had outplayed him last time. Normally, this would just be a lot of fun, but the context he did it in really irks me. It's so cheap it could put Judaism in the game without a crusade on Jerusalem.
It will probably be wise to reserve judgment until whatever it is, actually gets released.

Yeah I was wondering what happened to it. It just ceased to exist.

What's absolutely bizarre about hordes now is how quickly they spread religion

Caesar was not an Emperor, he was a dictator. I know this seems like a pretty pedantic nitpick but it is a little bit important, since Augustus basically remade the whole government to be an Empire and not a republic.

Empty provinces just have the culture/religion of their owner.

300ad to 700ad migartion era grand strategy game please.
3+7= 10 clearly the game is going to be an in depth Ageod game about the Ten-Day War between Slovenia and Yugoslavia.
Time to tell the story of my experience as a count in Lombard.
I begin the game at the earliest start point, and play for about 100 years as a count. Then my count develops a little thing called "intrigue".
With this "intrigue" he proceeds to blackmail, murder, and slander the current rulers that attempt to challenge his ambition. Soon afterwards the current King of Lombard, who has a favorable opinion of my count, kicks the old duke out and replaces him. The replacement? Me.
50 some years kick by, a new king, a new enemy. The current king has a strange obsession not seen in the prior king. He demands my children become Lombard, culturally. I am Italian, and I don't want this idiot ruining my lands obsession for pasta. Then an idea: What do I need to do to get independence? Simple. Murder the entire leadership and shatter the somewhat stable monarchy.
3 or 4 kings later, I see about 3 different factions for king, a vassal page full of red, and an incompetent, unlikable shill as king. Soon afterwards a war broke out for some countess who wanted to be the liege. The prior kings died a number of ways; one I remember was shot by a longbow, the other died to poison wine, and one was stabbed by his own guard.
I create an independence faction, press my claim after the war slugs out a bit, and proceed to further ruin the land.
Lombardy is now in utter chaos, and I have an alliance with a German king.

oh fuck no i can't even to begin to imagine how clusterfucky that would be
abdul karling completely dominating all of the world
another 50 years and I narrowly miss losing vital land. The new Liege is young and dumb and wants my duchy.
So, he attacks. and wins. But he did not revoke the land he took from a family member of mine, which I granted him... Granted him because he was the next heir to the throne and figured it was a good idea.
My current liege dies and the heir takes over, thus grabbing the land from Lombardy's control once more.
Next siege: Venice.
Update on the siege of Venice: a few decades pass, the claim was easily fabricated, but my finances were not.
Constant calls to arms and raids by Vikings hurt progress, as did my assistance in further ruining the Lombardy realm [another revolt that I aided in], but sure enough I finally did it. Only one problem: I didn't know the pope would get involved. Funny enough, it was less of a problem and more of a happy little accident. The pope, a man of peace, has an appropriately tiny army. My stack of 7,000 hired mercenaries [ironically bought with his own donation, one to "fight the heathens"] smashed him. Which was convenient, because I got to 100% without fighting the ships sent out by Venice, something I could not do.
To finish the deal, I revoked his title and entered another battle with all of the prior mentioned combatants. This is when I did the unbelievable: I brought an end to the pope, and the war with the papacy ended then and there.
:conspiratard:
The drama continues.
soon afterward, my liege of cunning intrigue dies, and is replaced with a lunatic, possessed, Satan listening weirdo who hates a guy named Aquestrius in his dungeon. I hate this guy. And I hate his brother.
I killed the brother, and the brothers son is next in line. My character, who is equally hated by my vassals, dies to a balcony collapse. Good riddance. :plsunderstand:
Now the son is in command, he goes to war with Lombardy again, and dies. Now the son's brother is in command. Hes ugly but at least he knows what the hell hes doing. Lombard attacks AGAIN and I win AGAIN. [although I reverted a save due to my confusion with the UI] Next? Istria.
so this is my first real game of this besides the tutorial game i played, and i decided to go with caliph al-mustansir I. i was doing pretty good, just invading my neighbors and all. i keep getting peasant rebellions and also that time some of my sons rebelled against me. anyways i going fine, the crusades are happening but they aren't so bad because it is just 5 or so groups of 300 dudes running around the desert not staying any one place long enough to do anything and chasing them down is a bitch

CLEARLY CONFIRMED FOR SPACE SIMULATOR WITH ROMAN TIES AND HITLER MANA CONFIRM CONFIRRM
My reign ended in north Lombardy, but instead of abandoning the world altogether, I shall choose a new character.
Maybe I'll do something in England.
