Paradox Interactive Thread: V3 'Check out my sick Germany blob'

After the End is amazing but it's unplayable in multiplayer unfortunately. Sync issues every minute and nothing fixes them, thankfully the authors said they are trying to fix it.
I only play after the end when I play CK2. Something about restoring a kingdom of Amaricana-worshipping easterners somehow appeals to me.
That and the whole romance of the three kingdoms esque warfare in California.
Though my favorite thing I've done so far is insert Deirdre Skye from Alpha Centauri as a tree-hugging Gaian in Portland.

I've been trying it out and simply for the fact that it's less heavy on my CPU, I'll be playing AtE more often than vanilla till I upgrade
Thought it'd be worth noting that Johan said this on the forums, in relevance to Augustus:
Got sick of people walking half a continent in CK2 (or doing it by boat). Like Jerusalem in shattered world annexing bits of Scotland.
(Unbalanced) Mini mod: It hurts.
- Units go slower, boats travels are longer and and many people will die.
- Supplies reduced from a month to 7 days. While own and enemy territory has the sort of the same attrition as before neutral territory will hurt like fuck unless your doing coastal raids.
Can the AI handle it? I was thinking of making the out of supply thing harsher but I'm worried about the AI ignoring it and killing its army.

Nice, will test this
Tease 4: "Terrain truly matters"

So this does mean it'll probably be staying in the realms of history and is a regular GSG.
Cold War game please.
[sp]I just want to believe :([/sp]
So we've got a person wanting antiquity, a person wanting the migration period, and a person wanting the Cold War.
Also, please please please antiquity
We NEED a Cold War game!
Apparently HoI4 has no set end date... so.
Where did you hear that? I'm interested in the details.
It can't be a Cold War game, because it was in development before EvW was cancelled. Wouldn't make sense to make two Cold War games at once.
(And Johan confirmed it's not a Cold War game.)
Apparently HoI4 has no set end date... so.
Yeah, but the Tech Tree ends in the 50s IIRC.
Looking at how things play out in CKII half the time while reading The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, and the killing of Pertinax. The era of the five emperors is identical to what goes on this this game.
Where did you hear that? I'm interested in the details.
It was in a video of the alpha somewhere, but I do know that they said something about how it'd give you your score and everything like it normally would, but you'd get the option to continue playing after that.

This hint is pretty shit, no lie.
But I'm still holding out for Classical to Late Antiquity.
Well luckily gamescom isn't that far off this year since it's a couple weeks earlier than last

But the mechanics are set to represent total warfare and the WWII.
Which doesn't work quite well for the Cold War.
Anyone who played HoI II and went past the 40's can testify this. It's just a completely world devoid of events where states are hell bent on destroying each other with jet bombers and massed tank attacks. 1984.
It's a shame they never released the full source code for EvW, modders coulda probably made that mess at least a little playable.
And in case some people missed or didn't know, there has been a leak of the early build that people are 'trying' to work on

Question. I just got in to CKII today, and I've managed to arrange matrilineal marriages for France and the Holy Roman Empire. Surprisingly enough, I'm confused on a concept in this game. So if every child they make is part of my bloodline, and then my bloodline takes up the mantle, do the lands become mine at all? Is there a way I can work them in to being mine if not from there?

You only play as one character at a time, so to unite France and the HRE you have to make sure that your heir somewhere down the line inherits both titles. If you just put some random guy of your dynasty on the French throne he will be an ally, but that won't help you get the title for yourself.

Huh, alright. So how can I work it towards it being inherited to myself? I figure assassination could work, although I did once try to go on an assassination gambit in France that didn't work out so well because of how many heirs there were to go through.

Say you have two sons, one set to inherit France after you die, the other will inherit the HRE when your husband dies. Normally your best bet in this case would be if either of them die after inheriting their titles without an heir the title should pass to another member of the dynasty depending on the inheritance laws of the empire, kingdom, ect. It is possible for kingdom's and empires to disallow external inheritance which means nobody that does not hold titles within the realm can inherit titles inside the realm.
Also I'm pretty sure the HRE is an elective monarchy so the dukes and kings will choose a heir by vote anyways.
Honestly the easiest way would be to change the laws in France so that your brother as the emperor of the HRE becomes next in line to inherit France and then just get yourself killed, though it's a bit gamey doing it like this.

Welp that pretty much excludes anything before 1800 or so.
So it is either sci-fi, WW1, [del]Vicky 3[/del] or a [del]CW game.[/del]
And seeing as V3 isn't happening because new IP, the dream stays real.

Not really. The Roman Republic held elections, as well as the strategoi and treasurers of Athens. I believe Sparta also held elections.

The second part of the clue makes that unlikely, unless I don't know things about their technological development that were especially amazing and important.

Technological development excludes much of classical antiquity however. Also elections in that quote implies more of the modern kind of democracy with elections rather than pre-modern ones.
This new game will be set either during or after the 19th century.

Why would it be? It's a new IP, so it's not Vicky, meaning it has to be after 1950. EvW was in production when this was, so it's not going to be Cold War, leaving us with only the past 25 years. To my recollection - correct me if I'm wrong - Johan said they weren't interested in making a modern political game not too long ago. Meaning that we're either getting a standalone After The End/Crisis Of The Confederation, or a game set before 769. And all that 'technological development' means that technology will be a gameplay feature.
