Paradox Interactive Thread: V3 'Check out my sick Germany blob'
In mp games I think that's also a issue once most of all the ai countries—mainly Europe, because nobody cares about events outside of it—are carved up between human players, leaving mostly only the aforementioned left. I think the problem Paradox faces is just that. Mid to late game gives more incentive for hugboxing because nobody wants to get gutted by others and that's generally just not fun. This isn't to say that hugboxing occurs only in the mid-later game, because they certainly do occur earlier on. And since there's really nothing to do outside war (blob), you're left with either colonzing what's left outside Europe, or joining into alliances with others and beat up the other alliances to blob into them, and, or, dogpile on individual nations, which may not always be a fair fight for the other party.
The way I see it, Paradox might further develop the victory card system in a way that it might prevent you from allying players whom you most likely might (permanently) ally with. Possibly something like a negative relation modifier so it's harder to bypass it and therefore reduce the chance of game breaking alliances forming. I think that is what PI might be aiming for, since they said it was made in mind to target hugboxing.
Alliances need to be fixed.
When i declare a war on Serbia who is Orthodox, with a religious CB, Bohemia who is Catholic, (same as me) shouldn't join. Or at least it should receive some penalities, perhaps negative events for doing so.
Then countries who are on the other side of the world still tend to do naval invasions.
In my opinion there should be several factors when the AI would honor an alliance or not. It should depend on how far they are, how big they are compared to the size of the enemy nation, their relation with the country which calls them into a war, their religion, and if they are on the same continent or not, and wheter. Then if they dishonor a call, they should automatically disband the alliance. Maybe this happens already, i'm not sure. Then i think that the more wars the AI lose because they get called into a war by someone, then they should be more likely to disband their alliance.
There is nothing more annjoying than having all these one or two province nations with 1-2k men joining against you when you are playing as say France and have 40-50k men. Even when you beat their armies several times times and are sieging their only province, they still refuse to peace out.
On a completely unrelated note i noticed that the AI tends to be in debt like 70% of the time. Even when i send a gift that's twice the size of their debt they still don't pay it off. How come?

HOI4's Store Page is up. Nothing exciting, and some of the screenshots are like a year old.

Supporting nations of other religions against political rivals wasn't really all that uncommon even during the time period of EUIV.
How many of you would be interested in doing a EU4 MP game? I've been longing to do daily games again but I don't really have a group to play with anymore. Or did my hugboxing posts discourage people from wanting to do one? :vs:
I don't care if you're a literal scrub or not, I'm fine as long as you don't ragequit and can stay dedicated to a game, hopefully to it's completion.
Not gonna lie, all these Paradox games seem to overlap a lot after coming from CK2.
My friend wants to play Vicky 2 over EU4, I don't really know the difference and I haven't gotten into either game yet like I have with CK2.
Any tips?

Vicky II is more about expanding your economy and influence than outright territorial expansion. The only major exceptions to this are the Scramble for Africa, some expansion into various other uncivs, and wars between major powers over cores.

So it's not really necessary to "blob" and acquire all of South America as Brazil or something?

You can if you really want to but you'd have rebellions out the ass. It would work out much better to build up industry and become a great power and sphere all of South America.
I hate to be a Toodly Turdhead but I'm gonna butt-in with my own suggestion for CK2 using Evolve (like Hamachi that doesn't suck).
If you want to be in on it, add me on Steam and we'll fiddlefuck in the middle ages.
Why would you use evolve...? It uses steam for MP
Why would you use evolve...? It uses steam for MP
It does?
Man it's been a LONG time since I last played :v:
Basically a couple months after ToG so
sorry v:v:v
Nomads are pretty ridiculous. The entire Middle East just fell to Cumania and was settled by the Khan at the time. Now Buddhist lords oppress the Kebab.

I think it happened around the same time they stopped supporting Non-Steam, or when they added Workshop Support.
Could be wrong.

I'd do a multiplayer game.
I think the first (boring) thing I'll do in HOI4 is try and make the UK Neutral. Cut all ties with europe as to not be dragged into the war.
[editline]29th August 2015[/editline]
actually, that may not be possible...
I just realized thanks to switching from a SH tab to this thread, that if you take out the pictures and the game references, it makes this thread -to an outsider- seem like a meeting of Illuminati talking about strategies to control and manipulate the world.
Did fairly well as Brazil in Victoria 2, way better than my first attempt going in blind. I actually managed to be ranked 14 when 1870 came around and I had enough colonialism to colonize a bit of Africa for myself. Of course, France and Spain absolutely absorbed most of the continent, and Britain got all of South Africa.
Funny event though, the Confederacy never formed in America. In fact, John Wilkes Booth completely failed to assassinate Lincoln, and his ass was thrown out of the theatre balcony. Unfortunately he somehow managed to get a second attempt off, and killed Lincoln around 1870 :v:
Anyway, I have no idea how to continue in Africa. I can't move or even merge any units I've moved over there, I can't upgrade it to the point here I can build factories despite having the required bureaucrats. I don't know what I'm missing, and the wikis aren't all that helpful. I think I might have bit off more than I can chew, but I wanted to see how far I could get. Any tips?
South America in VIC2 now that you mention it must be one of the most -if not THE- uninteresting continents in terms of events and historical gameplay.
Really, if you grab any book or wikipedia, and open the history part between 1832 and 1880, it can be safely said it's ridden with more clusterfucks, wars and revolutions than the Europe of the same period.

SA is a lot more interesting with the New Nations Mod or the mods derived from it.

To build factories a province has to be a state. To make a colony into a state you need 1% of the population in the province to be your primary culture (or accepted culture I think) and bureaucrats. The game will tell you if you can make a province a state or not. Also to manually build factories your current party in power needs to have at least state capitalism. Interventionism and Laissez-faire depend on capitalists to build factories.

They need to be accepted culture, and national foci attract all cultures. If you still have the culture percentage, you just might not have enough colonial maintenance to free it.

Also, a quote from the CK2 subreddit:
"I want to mercy kill my retarded granddaughter but everyone apparently has moral convictions about it"

I'm training them all as warrior princesses, who needs a son I guess.

America is a good tutorial nation. Its pretty hard to fail.
Prussia is good for a beginners challenge.
Or play Russia if you want to learn why everyone hates rebellions.

Japan is the best if you're trying to play an unciv, since you can steamroll into China pretty quickly once you westernize

Poor Svithjod can't even lose any of the wars because none of them can get any more warscore from conquering provinces
It will take years for their occupation score to rise enough to win, too

Good, fuck Svithturd. They always blob into Finland and then just make a whole mess of things.
