Other then bits of the UI, I can't see how this looks like a mobile game.
I've been following it since announcement, and I'm really excited.

I like the look of the tech tree
I'm guessing the gun icons with the crescent moon are night ops
What.
Please tell me you don't legitimately think that, cause it's fucking ridiculous.
I'm not excited at all. They stripped everything that made it Hearts of Iron and turned into "EUIV but WW2"
[editline]2nd February 2015[/editline]
That tech tree looks like Total War or something, not Hearts of Iron.
I love Total War, but if I want Hearts of Iron, I want it to be gritty and have there be lots of paths. This seems more railroaded than HoI3 Vanilla
Tech trees look like they've been dumbed down yeah. Being able to spec your Medium tanks to be high speed with massive firepower but no armor to keep up with your Motorized are all options that should be in there.
You should be able to choose individual upgrades, I don't need motorized or personal AT as Japan when fighting the Chinese. I haven't seen the doctrine tree, its gonna be bullshit if I can't increase my ambush chance rolls for my general too.
They seem to be pursuing a different design philosophy with HOI IV.
IMHO, it seems the game is trending towards more macro decisions than micro management such as we could see in the previous games.
Not dumbed down, but rather, pay more attention to "strategic" stuff (supplies, politics, industry, etc etc) than managing combat at the brigade level.
The Air combat simulation shown in one of the Devs diary is what makes me think that. That can't be in a mobile phone game.

Unit stats are based on what tech company of you have set to make them.
You can make your own Plane and boat variants, not sure about ground vehicles

Here is the vehicle tech tree, mind you this image is almost a year old, so things could have changed.
Guys I'm gonna pick up EU4 what are the must have DLCs?
Art of War if you can get it on sale
Wealth of Nations is nice too, can't say much about Res Publica because I don't have it but I guess if you like playing as Poland/The Netherlands it's nice to have
Guys I'm gonna pick up EU4 what are the must have DLCs?
art of war, everything else sucks

i beg your pardon
I've decided to start a game in CK2 Charlemagne from the earliest start date and then convert in the end to EU4.
It's been quite fun but it's only the year 913 now, it's going to be a very slooow progress...

Tried this - except I started in 1066. The CK2 game was looong but I finally finished it with a Brittannic Empire that covered all of the British Isles, half of Iberia, and much of the former Byzatine Empire. Then the converter bugged out and EUIV wouldn't allow me to unlock any ideas when playing the converted game.

new ED DD
I've been trying to play as Scotland, and in the recent patch I can't do anything to England, whereas in the previous patches I was able to take England on with the highlanders, but now they don't seem to activate.

IMHO you shouldn't do big conquest in the CK2 game if you're going to go into EUIV. Like I did a Saxony run where I reached what I considered to be natural borders (most of north Germany and the Netherlands) and then spent the whole game trying to put my family on the thrones of all of the big players in Europe (sometimes I'd inherit them and use the console to split them up like Napoleon, which I felt was alright and always fun) or in my Jerusalem game, I conquered Arabia and then worked to turn all of the Muslim and Hindu world into crusader states (conquer, rename, release).
I lose interest in big borders after I manage to expand slightly beyond my de jure realm. ^
As Portugal I had Galicia under me and the Duchy of Seville, conquering became a hassle so I turned to marrying my daughters into matrilineal marriages where I could. But Aragon and Castille keep fucking each other and somehow robbing lands out of nowhere. I managed to put my daughter in a matrilineal marriage to a french prince, murdered his brothers and then bam someone in his family takes the crown from him when his father finally croaks. (The guy I married my daughter to was the heir to the crown.)
I could probably murder the rest of them but there was like 15 people in the extended family and ain't nobody got time for dat'.
Then I decided to murder her husband to free up her prospects.

Thank god for new liberty stuff. Hopefully now we can see America looking slightly less retarded.

WAT THE FUCK
So I was doing pretty well as Scotland in ironman...
[thumb]http://s26.postimg.org/wa1s1aevb/2015_02_06_00002.jpg[/thumb]
Then I sold a piece of land to Granada, and this happened...
[thumb]http://s26.postimg.org/6d3iaxlu0/2015_02_06_00001.jpg[/thumb]
An infinite loop of rebels enforcing demands, knocked my prestige -200 points in a matter of seconds, save and reload didn't fix it. The only Andalusian patriots that exist in the world are in Cadiz which is owned by Spain.
It's goddamn infuriating, once my manpower had recovered from the previous war I was going to have enough men, tech and allies to take on France... now I can't do shit, ironman game kuput, and as usual, it's because of a cocksuckingfucking bug.
edit...
Ech, I fixed it. I had to break truce with Spain and unseige Cadiz for them. Netted some Prestige back from that little war, but still in the minuses. Also lost me a shit tonne of admin in the process, but at least the war with France is back on.
Canada confirmed for most peaceful army in the world during WWI :

Reportedly the guy that killed that soldier fell dead in no mans land when he jumped over the trenches to give him first aid while screaming "Oh god, this wasn't supposed to happen, I'm so sorry!"
Is there anyone experienced in HOI3 and more importantly the latest version of Black Ice mod who i could talk to?
I don't think I've ever seen Steppe borders so hopelessly fucked.

Stole this from Reddit:
In the Grim Darkness of the Crumbling Europe, there is only War.
It is the 1st millennium since the coming of Christ. For more than a thousand years the Roman Empire has stood, ruled from Constantinople. The Basileus is the Lord of innumerable lands by the Will of God and the might of his inexhaustible armies. Mighty fleets cross the wide seas and vast armies give battle in his name on far lands.
Greatest among his soldiers are the Imperial Tagmata, professional soldiers trained for war. Their comrades in arms are legion: levies and conscripts from the Themata, and the Brotherhood of the Sepulchre to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to defend the Empire from heretics, heathens and invaders.
To live in these times is to be one amongst millions, it is to live in a collapsing, warring continent. These are the tales of these times. Forget the promise of progress and understanding for much is forgotten, never to be relearned. There is no peace amongst Men, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of heathen gods.
Welcome, to the Crumbling Europe.
Some of the other tanks were also made up by the devs to fill out the tree, not sure which ones because I know nothing about Italian tanks.

Stole this from Reddit which stole it from the House Angelos AAR.
The thing that pisses me off the most in EUIV, and I don't think it will ever be fixed (and it doesn't have to, it's not a major issue)
Is when a country is reduced to 2 separated provinces, or just one off in the corner. I.E Norway being conquered by Sweden is just a tiny little nurdlet, but Sweden won't go after that last piece/force vassalization. It's so annoying :v:
Man, CK2 can be wierd. So there i am as Great Moravia, sitting around and consolidating power for my heir. When I decide to take a gander over at England.
Apparently Orthodox Vikings are now trending :v:.
