What the fuck is happening in the middle east? [t]http://i.imgur.com/Wg4qEJB.jpg[/t]
Gross [t]http://i.imgur.com/PI9tfnB.png[/t] [editline]30th January 2016[/editline] [t]https://i.imgur.com/ROEeh6N.png[/t] That is a bit better. [editline]30th January 2016[/editline] Russia lost a great war and was dismantled [t]https://i.imgur.com/FusCiHs.png[/t] As a bonus, it caused Canada to gain the rest of Alaska [t]https://i.imgur.com/CPKkQ4v.png[/t]
I'll be honest, sometimes when I get bored in Vicky II I like to tag switch to some of the GPs like the UK and just delete all of their shit. Sometimes I force them to release every nation they possibly can. The game isn't all that interesting when you have an eternal alliance between Germany and the UK.
VicII is a fun game mechanically, but I think it emphasizes the exact reason I don't want paradox games to cling too tightly to realism and deterministic approaches to history. Playing as anyone but a historically successful GP or SP in that game is a fucking pain in the ass, usually ending in late game fucking as the inability to colonize or develop large alliances fucks you.
If Vicky 3 ever becomes a thing I really hope it has an official EUIV converter. More scenarios would be a great thing. The only fleshed out alt-history mod I can really think of is Divergences and a couple of others that I think were never updated to HoD.
Here is the map of that game [t]https://i.imgur.com/xK250Wp.jpg[/t] [editline]1st February 2016[/editline] Most of the German territory outside of Europe was french, they lost it in a war.
Vicky 2 is better when play with other people and when everybody is actively forming alliances and trying to fuck eachother over. Unfortunately that rarely happens.
Vicky 2 is better when play with other people and when everybody is actively forming alliances and trying to fuck eachother over. Unfortunately that rarely happens.
playing mp with the /gsg/ mp group (not the bigger, actual /gsg/ one) back in the day used to be really fun but it got tiring since we played with that one mod (forgot which, maybe vicky mod) got constantly updated so we'd have constant restarts more often than not or butthurt players not wanting to continute games one game i remember fondly was russia(me), uk, france vs austria and germany, where i'd always getting hammered because of inferior tech and whatnot. this battle was suppose to ensure peace in our time, but germany was a cheeky cunt that exploited our weakness and truces to regain stuff he needed to almost unify germany, we never continuted that game for long though. there was another one where i was france and I had to constantly bluff threats so they'd (germany and russia) would stand down since I was holding on to the rhine, and germany was secretly PMing me on steam to let him unify so he could take on russia which I'd always refuse, since he was allied to russia and he constantly had Russia fight all his wars for him against me, hardly did he ever fight for himself except for a ocassion in a Belgian war where Russia was losing momentum. In that same game, Spain was in their alliance trying to fuck me over while I was distracted north. And despite my northern focus, he still got severely crippled and ended up in a nearly 40 something long afghan-tier civil war. I felt bad and intervened on his behalf to help with, since it was my fault he got fucked over :vs:. In the end we never really played that game for long much like other games. I don't actually think we played a game beyond 1880. But man those times were nostalgic. basically vick2 mp games is dogpiling germany so they never unify and dominate the rest of the game until, in no particular order, someone complains, game out of syncs, a new mod version comes out, and a new one then starts. :vs: but yeah they can be fun if you find the right kind of people to play with, and more people more clusterfuck and fun there is.

I hate how little warscore you get for occupying India in Vicky II. "Sir, they've occupied the entirety of the Indian subcontinent. In return they demand two minor provinces." "Nah, fuck-em. We've still got 70k troops sitting here in London."

Fighting the UK is always gonna be a long haul thing.
The warscore ticker in HoD for occupying the province you want to take certainly helps with that. Fighting the UK is always gonna be a long haul thing.
Even with the ticking warscore the UK ai is tedious to deal with to say the least. You can be over double the required warscore and the AI will still refuse to admit defeat because as far as it's concerned it's not defeated because you haven't invaded the British Isles.
Anyone knows when Conclave will launch? EDIT: Conclave dev diary #4
- Fix that should stop the humans giving birth to horses. - No longer blocks female horses from being on the council.
vas is das mang
So far Conclave has been pretty decent. Nomad council laws are locked to empower the council, which is lame. [T]https://i.imgur.com/xKEIQwt.jpg[/T] Shattered retreat is wonky as expected, sent my entire army into the back end of Russia where an ally was, all the way from Poland. It also apparently just makes the retreating army invincible, thats interesting to say the least. Levies reinforcing while raised is nice, but allows the guy who wins the first battle to park his army in his land and have it constantly reinforce, and then move it so he can run down the reinforcing opponent army for free war score. Favors are extremely expensive, and apart from the council and forcing someone into a (non maternally)marriage are pretty worthless, costing 350~ gold for a duke in the HRE. Don't know why you'd bother unless you plan to constantly stack the council. Marriages give a non-aggression pact instead of an automatic alliance, which is just an extra step to form an alliance. Speaking of, the dev diary seemed to hint at alliances being possible without marriage, which would've been great, but its nowhere to be found, dunno if that was just me misreading things. You also always get called into war when your ally declares one. No game pausing or anything either, so you can just be randomly thrown into war without any say/real warning. All in all, it's okay. Wish I didn't spend the 15 on it to be quite honest.
Any screenshots of the new portrait packs and buildings? I think this DLC is great for mods more than the game. People should be able to tinker with the new mechanics and polish it them more.

[t]https://i.imgur.com/RWPJ6fP.png[/t] they actually included a list of names under the Horse Culture, even though you will never see them Male: Glitterhoof Chetak Bucephalus Traveller Marengo Palomo Cincinnati Comanche "Clever Hans" Veillantif Female: Glitterhoof Kasztanka "Sergeant Reckless" Buttermilk "Lady Wonder" [editline]2nd February 2016[/editline] Steam\steamapps\common\Crusader Kings II\common\cultures\99_animals.txt Edit that to enable ruler designer. You can also enable horses to appear as random characters.
Is this a joke?
Is this a joke?
It only happens in game to a lunatic/insane characters, you have the option to appoint a horse to a position. The event has been in the game for a while I don't know how long, a year or 2. Maybe longer, someone can probably tell you The horse just never had visual representation outside of flavor events They have 0 in all stats and can't do anything at all [editline]2nd February 2016[/editline] What I did above I did via modding. You can't do that by default
Is this a joke?
Good thing this isn't the height of the mlp craze.
thanks paradox
This reminds me of the event in warhammer geheimnisnacht mod. If you're playing as a Slaanesh character you can torture your prisoners by having them fuck a horse, and you can join in on the fun too. Often times ends with you dying by getting fucked to death by a horse, or getting crippled and dying shortly after.
So I've got 2 questions: 1-) Which nation should I start with on CK2? 2-) Are there any DLC's (for CK2 obviously) that are a must buy?
Ireland is a good place to start, as for must have DLC I'd say The Old Gods and Way of Life at the very least.
So I've got 2 questions: 1-) Which nation should I start with on CK2? 2-) Are there any DLC's (for CK2 obviously) that are a must buy?
1. Most interesting characters to play for me are dukes in highly divided areas away from blobs. Ireland, Eastern Europe/Baltics, Scandinavians, East Africans. Empires are boring to play from the start, in fact I don't think I've ever played as the Byzantine empire in the 1000 or so hours I've played CK2. 2. I would recommend getting legacy of Rome, way of life and old gods. Retinues are pretty damn useful and way of life adds a lot of flavour and more freedom and old gods adds a whole new bookmark and fun fun Pagans. Other DLC's range in quality but most are good too. Portraits are pretty sweet too, breaks up the monotony a little bit.
1-) Which nation should I start with on CK2?
As always mentioned, the best place to start is in Ireland at more or less any point. You're given a majority of the features that the vanilla game has, and you can learn the ropes quite quickly.
2-) Are there any DLC's (for CK2 obviously) that are a must buy?
Portraits, Dynasty shields. Get those, you will have hilariously bad immersion breaking if you don't get this. Honest to god, the world is 3 races: White, Arab and Indian. Also, it'll let you use really good mods. After that, Best to Least needed DLC is as follows: - Sword of Islam (This gets #1 because it's asinine to not have Muslims playable by default) - The Old Gods (Pagan features, best possible start date) - Way of Life (More events, more useful interaction between characters) - The Republic (Form republic, use republican features) - Legacy of Rome (Ability to reform Roman Empire, other features) - Horse Lords (Improved nomadic features, makes non-Mongol nomads actually interesting) - Ruler Designer (Only needed if you want more custom adventures. I personally would have this as #2 but I digress) - Sons of Abraham (Playable Jews, improved cardinal features. Not really all that great) - Rajas of India (Skip)
Holy shit this is the worst patch in existence. Oh my fucking god. Shattered retreats are broken as shit, and will throw your armies to fuckall places (A guy on Reddit had his army march from Sweden to fucking Ghana). Coalitions are even worse, and so fucking broken that you'd literally have to be losing capacity with your brain function to consider it, in any way, a good idea. A Sunni Jihad that blitzkrieg's its way through Anatolia and into Greece sees nothing more than a couple spooked neighbors. If Charlemagne presses his claim on Saxony, there will be a coalition that stretches from goddamn Iberia to fucking Mongolia. It's seriously fucking ruined the game, the fact that I have to install mods to just stop these features from being here is a disgrace. FUCK
That's just Paradox these days, at least with CK2. It usually takes a patch or two (or three) before the game is unfucked.
