Paradox Interactive Thread: V3 'Check out my sick Germany blob'
Common sense is almost literally essential, as not having it locks you out of a significant aspect of the game while the AI can go ham. Art of war is great, as is wealth of nations. Res publica is a must have if you are going to play republics, doubly so for the dutch. El Dorado and Conquest of paradise if you want to be a colonialist I guess, but it really isn't essential, and I doubt you'll really want to play as the natives. I liked what the cossacks added, but it isn't needed. Up to you
Common Sense has been disproved, provinces are locked into base dev levels bar events that specifically level it.
Still. Not using development will bone you to an extent that is unimaginable, you basically have to upgrade your provinces to progress, and it'll let you get something done if you're starting as an OPM.
Using development is just
common sense

So they fixed that?
I don't ever recall it being a problem in the first place. I think people just automatically assumed that the AI would do it.
if it was a problem it has been fixed for a long time now.
Anyways a new HOI4 shot, nothing exciting, but it shows that they're not just recycling old Victoria 2 flags.. Though the colours on the Dutch flag are still the wrong way around.
From Johan's twitter, hes playing a Dutch game.

I thought it started as a joke, the earliest screenshots of the game had the Yugoslavia and Dutch flags reversed.
Maybe they forgot :v:

Oh, only the communist flag has the colours reversed. The Democratic flag is correct

hm.. Guessing this is how they're getting around make a German only version. everyone gets the censored version, and then Free DLC for people outside of Germany.

Imagine working at Paradox and thinking Coalitions were a good idea for CK2
I don't think coalitions are a bad idea in theory but imo they should be more localised. For instance in your screenshot you should have like a British coalition, a Norse coalition, a Slavic coalition, etc.
I think it's good for small realms to be able to band together against a larger threat, but the mechanic shouldn't be designed as the one limiting factor to expansion.
Would anyone here be willing to help me out? I have a syntax error or a typo somewhere in this and its been driving me insane for the last 3 hours. Either the string 'imperial_guard' is fucked or I have a formatting error or I'm missing a semi-colon or bracket.

So, you can appoint horses as bishops, and random courtiers spawned from them won't have the Horse trait that does some of the restrictions.
A user on reddit abused this to reform the roman empire as a horse in Ironman

According to the author some people were angry that they made the commander in that comic female.

Not surprising considering how unreasonably angry people get with the female equality dlc, the name of which eludes me.
You mean EU4? all it added was a few female advisers and events.
Anyways I changed my stance on coalitions in CK2. they can go away now, or at least decrease the amount of realms that can be in one.
You mean EU4? all it added was a few female advisers and events.
That doesn't stop people from getting unreasonably angry at it. Usually something something SJWs.
They should really crack open a history book once and while then.
You mean herstory book.
But I care more about important things like a HoI4 release date.
Yeah bout that.. When's the release date?
Its in beta so, in the next half year I'd say
Stellaris is also in Beta now.
The new Victoria 2 patch is out for non-steam versions, will hit steam soon.

as someone who hasn't bought conclave yet the conclave update just made the laws screen cluttered. its now filled with tabs of tabs and pointless margin frills that just make me have to scroll a bunch
before

after

my main beef is with the bottom half this screen. its just way more neat before.
however the laws screen always confused me, with different kingdoms having different crown authority from your empire
also, babbys first coalition, all because of a holy war for kent

granted, i have committed several transgressions toward the christian, slavic, and romuvan peoples of europe....
but they never ended up declaring war.

[sp]r/paradoxplaza is defending this and downvoting people who want PR to act like professionals[/sp]
I don't see why people care tbh.
because employees really shouldn't bad mouth their customers. At least not on a public forum with their official account.
Does Paradox even have a PR rep? I remember Johan stirring up a shit storm for talking about EU4 being only balanced for MP and him not caring about singleplayer customers.
They just do whatever they want.
This has its positives and negatives. Look at how Relic deals with Company of Heroes. They do whats popular and the game is balanced heavily in favor of the Axis (wehraboos) as a result. Of course, it doesn't help that mods censor allied players on the forums.
They can do what they want, I'm just not gonna buy any of it.
HOI4 DD on occupations and resistance

No more rebel wack-a-mole.
Next week is battle plans
When Paradox is in touch with the community as much as it is you will get some immature devs getting angry over shit. I think, while it's good they have the balls to stand up for themselves and refuse to let the minority win (seriously, let them release the game when they feel it's ready) like what Relic does it's immature to go to the level Wiz does.
People like Groogy are great though, I'll say the devs are filled with mainly nice people while people like Wiz and Johann have anger management problems. It doesn't help that the forums are filled with some pretty cancerous members too, but they do need to be respectful no matter how rude they are.
