Yeah, steam refuses to give me the .exe, guess I won't be trying or buying Battleborn any time soon.
game sucks don't bother
it's... okay? I like some of the character designs, and the gameplay is somewhat enjoyable, but I can see this game going down the same path Evolve did with its current launch price.
I played for a few hours and think the same thing: it's OK. I haven't seen much of anyone crazy in love with it. It's either bad or 'meh' reviews.
Gripes:
I played one of the campaign missions and there were clearly reused assets from BL2 and TPS. The part where you fight the spider mech guy is just re-skinned version of where you'd fight Prof Nakayama or whatever his name was, I think from one of the BL2 DLCs. The final boss, ISAC, felt too similar to The Presequel boss. Some of the same attacks, and the area is pretty much the same glowy walled in circle. Financially I'm sure that makes a lot of sense for them to reuse assets but for someone like me who's played way too much Borderlands it felt off putting when I recognized stuff like that. It seems like their main focus of the game is multiplayer, so they probably had to cut corners in the campaign, but I personally would be more inclined to purchase a game with a really well done campaign that you could sink >30 hours into without touching the multiplayer. Pretty sure Battleborn will not have that.
Secondly, the hud feels super cluttered. It's all necessary, but when different areas of your screen are all flashing for different reasons and you're still trying to figure it all out it's just bad. There's not enough contrast or separation between the hud and the bright game world, explosions and effects so it all becomes a brightly colored mess.
Third, I think they originally tried to market this as more than a 1st person MOBA (not sure if they still are, I haven't kept up on the game much after the original announcements), but, at least in the beta, that's all I got from the multiplayer. Both gameplay modes were slightly different but still just feel like a 5v5 MOBA with a different view. Some people may want exactly that though, probably just comes down to personal preference.
I dont like this game. The graphics style is ugly, performance is crap, weapons feel weightless and MOBAness ruins the PvP.

How about you give an actual reason as to why rather than shitting up the thread?
I'd say it's good. Not amazing but good.
Probably not worth picking up right now though.
Also, Isic is a beast in story mode. Teared through a mission just using his ultimate since it doesn't end until you say so.
Going to give this a try when I get home. I hear people comparing it to SMNC which I really enjoyed (first MOBA style game I ever really got into properly though it died quickly after I started playing).
Asides from some balance issues which will hopefully be fixed by release, it's so far pretty enjoyable. It's a shame that the price is so high, it'll probably cost them a lot of players, myself included.
yeah the balance is off in this version of the game
Ambra and Galilea are hideously OP, especially Ambra
Yep, she was when I played in the CBT. She's the only one I really had fun with, but blatantly OP.
It's ok. I like the story mission stuff in concept, but it's mostly just going through waves of generic enemies until you reach bosses. FoV on PS4 is crazy small though. Makes it hard to see anything.
This game is actually boring. No weapon variety...
Game loads up and when it's about to load the lobby it gives me a fatal error, anyone has the same problem? It's regarding some dll's
I love playing Orendi. Her Shadow Pillar is super satisfying to land and Nullify just fucks over melee characters, since you both create space and can blind them; I've messed up quite a few Rath initiations with it. It's also fun to super jump with it, since you can make it propel you upwards. Lastly, Paradigm Shift is hype. I just channel it, chant "You~are~dead~pewoom" and toast people.
Sure, Shadow Pillar is hard to hit with sometimes and you're kinda squishy, but your tiny size, speed and HUGE burst damage is spectacular.

It's not really about weapons though? It's about several unique characters with unique abilities and weapons? Stick with Warframe if you want 'weapon variety' :v:
[sp]or was that a joke? I can't tell anymore[/sp]

This game has no secondary weapon.
Oscar Mike has one big Assault Rifle that you can customize while you play.
What's disappointing is that you cannot crouch in this game, like REALLY.
What's disappointing is that you cannot crouch in this game, like REALLY.
Why would you need to? Crouching makes you smaller and slower, it doesn't offer any sort of advantage and in most games rarely factors into the gameplay. Crouching, in most cases, is a useless mechanic that adds literally nothing to the game except another key to remember for the two cases you have to crawl through a vent.

Oh wait you weren't joking when you said it has no weapon variety.
wow.
Alright it might surprise you, but this isn't just an ordinary fps like cod. If you want variety, pick different classes.

COD argument... really? I can't select a different class in middle of the game... that's the problem.
If I play shit this class... you have to carry-on through whole match.
There should be at least one secondary weapon to help you out in bad situation.
Crouch is essential in shooters. What If you see enemy rocket? You duck or you do dash to left or right side. But in here you can't do any of those things.

I hate rath's ult so much
god damn blistering circle of fuck you everything is red also all the damage and I'm lifestealing so hard

What.
I guess the same argument can be applied to jumping as well, it only makes you temporarily move in Z-axis, no tactical advantage, bloody useless.

Platforming.
Are we seriously arguing about this?
wow people were not joking about galilea being good
I like this game much more than I thought I would. I'm not a fan of MOBAs but the fps gameplay really bridges the gap for me. The time-to-kills don't really bother me in PvP as I understand you should almost always be with your team when fighting.
Would like some more optimization, though. Also a big darn shame about that pricetag.
I went in with low expectations because it honestly didn't look great and none of the people I know who played earlier versions had any praise for it, but it's surprisingly fun. There seems to be lag and balance issues, and I can't really tell what's happening a lot of the time, but it's cool how almost every character is actually unique. I also like how the coop stuff doesn't have too many bullet spongy enemies and keeps the combat satisfying. The humor is hit or miss ala Borderlands but it's pretty good when it lands.
Only played about 2 hours yesterday but it was a generally good first impression. I seem to have taken a liking to Thorn so far.
Hopefully I'll get a better impression when I play some more.
I also didn't know you could sprint until three matches in :goodjob:
Don't know what to think, it's not a bad game, it's not great either. PVE is nice, Borderland was funnier, looks like the humor is more childish, PVP is a bit of a mess.
I'm mitigated. :v:
I'm actually not too bothered by how cluttered it is anymore. It's usually only a problem if you're playing a melee character like El Dragon.
