Battleborn - a MOBA from the creators of Borderlands

I actually like the humour, it's just kinda grating after playing the same two missions a half billion times
the only problem i have with the game is that it feels really hard to hit people while everyone else is killing me in 2 seconds.

That's how I feel when fighting a Phoebe/Ambra/Galilea/Rath.
Been booping around on this using Thorn. I've never really been into MOBAs but this seems pretty cool.
okay so this is actually really fun. It's far from perfect but it's great.
Reminds me of Super MNC a lot.
Characters play really differently, and the way you level up your character during a match can turn them into something pretty different too.
The Meltdown game mode is simple enough and satisfying. I thought only having 1 weapon (unlike SMNC) would be boring but the game loop is varied enough to be fun (defending, attacking, killing minions, gathering resources, building sentries, etc)
Humor doesn't bother me, I hate Minrec's lolrandom humor and I wish we could mute them, but outside of that I found most one-liners to be funny.
I found the gunplay to be sub-par on most characters. Projectiles and hitboxes aren't well telegraphed.
There's too much visual clutter. Everything has a trail, fancy explosions and extra fluff that isn't needed.
Every animation has annoying camera shakes and first-person hands blocking the view.
I'd play it outside the beta.
It's a shame about the pricing though. If someone wanted to play competitively, they'd have to pay $60, then play like 15 hours to unlock every character and get some gear that compliments their mains.
Especially with Overwatch coming out really soon, it would be a shame to see it have the same fate as Evolve or SMNC and forgotten within 2 months.
I feel like this would do much better if it was F2P and let people buy classes with currency like LoL.
With a company as popular as Gearbox, I'm sure they could afford to release a F2P game and have it last for a few years.
They could do like CoD Blops 3 and sell the Story mode separately at least.
This is quite a fun game, I am enjoying the humour in the story mode. It's nice to see that there is some variety with the dialogue too, so it's not the same every time.
I don't see how the story ties together though. Maybe that's just because it's a beta.
With everything considered, I won't be willing to drop £35 on it. It is a bit bland and will probably be dwarfed by the likes of Overwatch and whatever else FPS MOBA games are coming out soon.

The thing is, Gearbox really CAN'T afford to make this F2P.
If Battleborn flops, it might just take Gearbox down with it, they have a lot riding on this game.

but they'd make more money in the long term if it was F2P
Actually, what if it becomes F2P after a few months or a year? Could they do that? Like TF2 or Wildstar I guess
Game's pretty fun for me, even if it has some problems (like huge amounts of effects at the screen sometimes that don't let you really see what's going on), I might pick it up to play with friends if I'm not too bad on cash.
Ambra is fun.
Rath's robes are annoying when you're getting punted about by the boss on Algorithm. Can't see shit
Game is a blast with a full group of friends, but it's gonna be a hard sell to get 4 friends to spend 60 bucks on this, even if it is this fun
I didn't like it that much. The gameplay felt alright at the best and the visual style and the characters didn't really appeal to me. Smite is so much better when it comes to MOBA and the Borderlands among other games satisfy my random fun co-op shooting.
Perhaps I'm gonna pick it up after like a year when it's on proper sale.
Does the story mode have proper cutscenes and story like Borderlands, or is it pretty much as we see it in the beta where there's no proper structure or explanation other than a 5 second cutscene at the beginning?

Sort of both. Think Borderlands meets Left 4 Dead.
So that was the open beta. My thoughts in an incoherent wall of text:
Reminds me of SMNC. If anybody still thinks this game is anything like Overwatch they're an idiot. The gameplay is ok, if you can get over the frustrating little knot in your stomach that comes from enemies taking a fair few shots to kill because of the RPG mechanics. The character designs are sort of the minimum level of interesting they need to be to be acceptable. But the story, the art, the humour, it's all so familiar and well trodden that I wouldn't bat and eyelid if you inserted the Borderlands cast into the roster. Which makes me question why this isn't a Borderlands spin off since that'd help the success I'd say. I like the modes, I like them a lot actually. I'm so glad we didn't end up with default FPS modes like payload or capture points, or the default moba mode or any modifications of it because none of those would work for this game. Humour will not and cannot carry this game: once you've put in 15 hours those funny quips will be background noise at best and grating at worst. So this game needs to be carried on decent gameplay, and shockingly I'd say it succeeds. The heroes each play pretty differently, the gunplay is a little stale and unresponsive but the MOBAry elements of the game made that almost unavoidable. The level up system is kind of neat, it actually ends up meaning you can have some pretty cool variations in heroes to the point where they fill different roles in game from single target DPS to entire team CC. My only complaint is the gear system which seems inherently unbalanced since some players at just a little statistically better than others, and the unlock system which is straight out of F2P games. Hey game devs! Make a game that has good enough gameplay to keep me playing it, not a game that has unlocks that force me to grind it!
I reached rank 15 with Benedict. I checked the stats page to see how long it took me and saw that I've played him for 22 hours worth of game time.
Now I'm kinda glad the beta is ending :v:
I can't believe this game has wooed me into buying it, it's so fun.
I was like, "No way would I spend 60 bucks on this" at the start of the beta, then I spent 13 hours playing and went "I am 100% spending 60 bucks on this". Some of my friends even got convinced too, this game is amazing.
Yeah, definitely getting this. It's a blast with friends and we all had a great time (when we weren't getting stomped).
They just need to tone down some heroes like Galilea and Ambra and a few of the other unlockable heroes that are simply objectively better than others.
Eh, the lack of maps and gamemodes has me concerned. I feel like I'd get bored of it real quick.
I've been having fun with friends but it feels to me like a game you'd pick up if it was on sale, but never pay full price for
Grabbed it from G2A for 33 bucks, good deal
Can someone remind me how to uninstall a game that disappears from your steam list?
Can someone remind me how to uninstall a game that disappears from your steam list?
You should be able to find it through "Uninstall a program" in your control panel.
Nuuvem has the deluxe edition, which is the base game plus season pass, for R$129,99 (£25), You need a VPN to activate but I dont belive youll need a VPN to play it, since you didn't with Borderlands2/Pre sequel.
I played around 20 hours during the open beta, had a shitton of fun with it. Definitely will be picking it up at release.
Honestly it's really fun it just got too stale for me way too quickly.
The campaign seemed tedious moreso than anything and you only need like 10 minutes to enjoy each character, not the full ~45minute campaign chapter.
The closed beta seemed so promising but it seems like the open beta was the same exact thing just less characters I could pick from now and two extra 'parts' to the first Chapter

I dunno, it's the same as any moba IMO. Sure there needs to be another game mode or two, but there were ones locked from the open beta. Had a bunch of fun with a group of 4 playing because you could really work together well.
