All of the dudes have distinctly different details and designs, while out of the 5 chicks, only one of them is wearing actual armor and not something revealing and/or skintight. I dunno about the robots. Do they even have a gender?
Zenyatta has a male voice so we can call him that. Bastion is probably the ever common genderless team mascot-type robot.
I THINK based on his voice lines, Zenyatta is a monk of some sort who achieved a state such that he transcended physical form and uses that robot as his avatar on the world.

Zenyatta is an omnic monk who wanders the world in search of spiritual enlightenment. It is said that those who cross his path are never the same again. Years ago, following the Omnic Crisis, a group of outcast omnic robots experienced what they described as a spiritual awakening. They abandoned their preprogrammed lives to establish a communal monastery deep in the Himalayas. After many years of meditation on the nature of existence, they came to the belief that they were more than artificial intelligences and that, like humans, they possessed the essence of a soul. Recognizing the spiritual equality they held with humans, the monks, led by the enigmatic robot known as Tekhartha Mondatta, sought to heal the wounds caused by the Omnic Crisis a generation earlier and bring humans and robots back into societal harmony. Their message was embraced by millions around the world, and they became global celebrities. But one monk, Zenyatta, disagreed with this new direction. He believed that the way to repair the problems between humans and omnics was not through dogmatic teaching but through interpersonal connection and engagement. Ultimately, Zenyatta followed his own path. He chose to leave the monastery and wander the world, helping those he meets to overcome their personal struggles and find inner peace. But, when necessary, he will fight to protect the innocent, be they omnic or human.
It is speculated that the cyborg katana guy is related to Hanzo (might be his brother that he had to kill according to his backstory).
[t]http://i.imgur.com/arqngTY.jpg[/t]
23 looks cool. I wonder what they have in mind for the unreleased characters.
Got some sneaky phone camera footage of the game from Blizzcon. Pharah has much quicker movement speed than I expected.
I'm probably going to end up playing the guy who makes a huge fucking wall and fucks shit up. Also, I sort of hope this is a game you pay for and isn't f2p. If they make it f2p it'll end up most likely being like Hearthstone/Heroes of the storm and having it so paying gives you an advantage. I wonder if they'll do a HoS/League system for characters, or allow players to have them all. I'd rather pay straight money and get a full game, but I doubt that'll happen.
In this interview (http://youtu.be/uPhpDEUfyOI?t=51m56s), it is stated that no measures are going to be taken by them to support a rotation of some sort for the characters, and it will be balanced around the notion that classes will be available to swap to at all times.

good otherwise it would mean you have to buy/earn the characters one by one
good otherwise it would mean you have to buy/earn the characters one by one
No, they said you can pick heroes mid-match as in TF2. They didn't say anything about the business model.
ah sry i misunderstood the sentence
It's obviously gonna be F2P. A game like this being paid would be suicidal for Blizzard.
Indeed. F2P with tons of skins for $$$. Add good MMR into it and you have an excellent money maker. FPS with MOBA elements, that is amazing. Would kindly drop some dosh into Blizzard's never ending supplies of money.
Why is the name of this game Overwatch? What makes it "Overwatch" or the Heroes "Overwatchers"?
Why is the name of this game Overwatch? What makes it "Overwatch" or the Heroes "Overwatchers"?
The group that fought back against the robot uprising was called Overwatch.
The group that fought back against the robot uprising was called Overwatch.
And some of these characters are ex-Overwatch soldiers.
A robot uprising, yes.. A group that resiliently fought back, u'huh.. Sure sounds like the military and police forces of Combine rule on Earth, that is the Overwatch. :v:
I hope they don't add silly hats like in TF2. Something to individualize is nice to have but please not as silly as in TF2. Maybe just some sort of avatar or banner like in Diablo.
