Overwatch - The world needs heroes, and Blizzard needs a TF2 game!
All of the gamemodes seem pretty simplistic and have no sense of innovation.
At least the upcoming DOOM is mixing it up a bit with on-the-move control point and Freeze Tag.
Even Call of Duty have some pretty interesting gamemodes like basketball (Uplink) and Kill Confirmed.
These kind of gamemodes always die out a week after release. People always stick to the main modes.
Somehow there's still no zones gamemode. There's a mod of one in Dota, but that's not an fps.
Yeah, I see what ya mean.
Gun Games/Arms Race became a popular CS mod and was eventually used in Black Ops and then CS:GO. TF2 schmucks only play Payload (a twist on VIP), KOTH, and CP variations (sans TC and SD).
Still, I would love for Blizzard to make their own surprising gamemode that will become an instant hit with the general multiplayer audience, but I guess taking no risk is its own reward.
To be fair Payload wasn't even added to TF2 until a good year after the game came out so we may very well see something come out after a few updates.
Dustbowl and 2fort are NOT good examples of quality maps that stand out.

Not accounting Dustbowl;
2fort, nuketown and dust2 are popular maps because the hot zone is few steps away from spawn (both teams), and has detour options if you aren't feeling it.
I do wish Overwatch has one variant of this; plus another map that spans a distance, my favorite example would be pl_badwater and cp_steel.

Dustbowl and 2fort might not be the most balanced maps, but they're some of the most fun maps in TF2, and are well designed in that aspect.
They both put you immediately into combat, and have a well defined path and objective for the player to attack/defend. They also have pretty interesting terrain and height making them also really fun for general combat.

They are the most stalematey and unpleasant maps to fight in TF2. There's more fun ctf maps, and way, way more fun attack/defense maps. Overwatch shouldn't be taking any lessons from cramped chokepoint-filled maps. It kills the most fun parts of a fast, movement based shooter.
Overwatch needs an MvM type mode that takes place during the Omnic crisis.

2fort is "babby's first TF2 map" and is not actually fun to play in any aspects unless you love turtling, which I sometimes like to do in order to relax.
I believe what they mean is a map that is like the face of Overwatch, like how nuketown is associated with CoD
The only thing I find fun about 2fort is creating teleporters straight into the enemy's flag point and spamming L while holding the flag with a friend

Doublecross is the better 2fort
A hot potato-kinda deal sounds like it could be really fun, but I'd see it being better if you had to "score" against an enemy with it or even maybe just random points all over the map, one activating after another has been used.
That was an idea I had for "reverse CTF", with the rigged package being delivered to key locations and whatnot.

I reckon all you'd hear would be "ALERTALERTALERTALERTALERTALERTALERTAL- the enemy has dropped our intelligence".
I already mentioned Zones, but Splatoon's Tower Control would make a really cool game mode in Overwatch I think.
The out of character cosmetics have already begun. Damnit.
At least they look nice.
Junker D.Va looks pretty rad
pharah's skin tone looks much whiter in those screenshots
1.5 GB update, so new skins, new achievements, a new map (Route 66) and a weekly mutator (NEW GAMEMODE!).
There's also some balance changes, POTG change, ability to save your personal gameplay highlights, and a UI change.

The new reaper skin makes me instantly think of Death in the Crow armor from Darksiders II:

New Escort map: Route 66
Hoo boy, this map is just giving the folks who argue "Overwatch is a TF2 clone" more ammo to work with. It literally looks like a higher res/higher detailed TF2 map.
I really dig that Junker skin for D.Va.
Does it replace her annoying voice with an australian one? :v:

I imagine most of that "critique" would stem from the red rocks and whatnot. After all, many of TF2's maps were meant to be set in the badlands, like a sixties spy-fi western.
I feel like the cosmetics might make the character sillouhettes hard to make out. the Gangster looking Mcree looks pretty different from his normal cowboy outfit in particular.

Anyone who unironically says Overwatch is a TF2 clone is a moron anyway. The only game that has ever actually "cloned" TF2 was Final Combat iirc.
Zenyatta
Orb of Harmony and Orb of Discord
-Now automatically return if their targets are out of line of sight for more than 3 seconds
Wow holy shit they might have just destroyed my intended main just there, yikes. I really hope they rollback this one, or at the very least reapproach it since Orb of Discord was actually pretty insane as it was
[editline]22nd March 2016[/editline]
It makes sense to have Discord orb reset after a while but with Harmony too it honestly just seems like he's a worse Mercy now
Wow, they're nerfing the only support class I was interested in
To be fair, as someone who shares similar disappointment about the Zen nerf, it was very needed. Zen is said to extremely overpowered due to his insane healing and offensive presence. They may need to adjust the numbers to something more reasonable such as 5-10 seconds, but something like this was absolutely needed in order to keep his powers in check.
This Zen nerf is probably intended to nerf Genji, they have been reducing Genji's health and his damage output for the last few patches, but the reason he was so powerful in the competitive scene was because the meta for composition is:
Genji
Genji
Zenyatta
Zenyatta
Symettra
Something else that changes role
Symettra puts shields on the Genji's, and the Zen's put orbs on them. After the hiatus of the beta over December and January, shields were buffed to be able to be healed by healing sources. Genji's weakness is his health pool. If one of the only weaknesses for a character with so many tools at his disposal (wall climbing, double-jumping, cooldown resetting, etc.) is removed, then that character that is already good becomes crazy good. He can just run away from his Zen's and Symmettra "pocket" and kill everyone on flank, get his ult, and kill their whole team, as you saw on the previous page with Seagull on Genji on the NA team Classic Mix^.
In TF2 terms, the Scout's weakness is his health, he can only have 125 and be overhealed to 185. If he got 250 health and that regenerated quickly for an infinite amount of time, he would be overpowered as well.
so im suuuuupppeeerr out of the loop on overwatch but are we expecting any new classes/heroes?
angryjoe is visiting blizzard to see overwatch on consoles and he posted this

it looks like gypsy danger from pacific rim though it looks like those giant robots you can see in one or two of the maps in the background
Wouldn't that be one of the robots manufactured at Volskaya Industries or something?
Wouldn't that be one of the robots manufactured at Volskaya Industries or something?
yeah, that's what i was thinking too since they're about the same size, but it turns out they look completely different
[t]http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/overwatch/images/1/13/Volskaya1.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150805204411[/t]
It's either an early design for them or just another type of the giant Omnics from during the crisis that we have't seen yet.
Pretty cool looking though!
Would be cool if there was a gamemode centered around it or something, but I doubt there will be.

Not until after release, all the heroes we have at moment are all there'll be on release.
