• Overwatch - The world needs heroes, and Blizzard needs a TF2 game!

They've said they're not going to do hats like TF2, but are more likely to include skins like League of Legends.
Skins are fine actually but I hope they won't look silly either. Different, fitting outfits would be cool but I hope it won't be stuff like santa clause costumes for Winston or skins from other games.
skins from other games.
I'd expect a Kerrigan skin for Widowmaker though, it makes too much sense for it not to happen. Also if Blizzard can find a way to make it without infringing on any copyright, a Samus skin for Pharah would be really cool.
I wouldn't mind a DOTA style customization thing. Like Tracer wearing blue jeans, or Winston wearing heart-sunglasses. Something minor but noticeable.
I hope they don't add silly hats like in TF2. Something to individualize is nice to have but please not as silly as in TF2. Maybe just some sort of avatar or banner like in Diablo.
I think overall the art style of TF2 is "silly" which is why the hats are fitting for that game But Overwatch does not have that silly art style, so I dont think theyre going to do silly hats if they do hats at all
I still can't get over the fact that Widowmaker is in part called that because she made herself a widow. Not only were her kidnappers twisted enough to mind fuck her and then turn her into an emotionless semi-corpse but they also thought it'd be fitting to make her code name a really cruel double entendre. I bet the coworkers of the guy who came up with her backstory over at blizz don't look at him the same way they used to anymore.

[editline]16th November 2014[/editline] He literally can't not write like that.
Kerrigan, Deckard Cain's granddaughter and 90% of the enemies in Diablo 3... huh. They don't have any other ideas for human enemies, do they? And now that I think about it, how the hell does Deckard Cain have a granddaughter?
Or not because Widowmaker is a fairly common name for video game things.
The spin is clever even if the name is generic as hell. Her backstory itself is still fairly dark as well, a lot more so than the other characters.
Kerrigan, Deckard Cain's granddaughter and 90% of the enemies in Diablo 3... huh.
Literally every bad guy in Warcraft too.
Literally every bad guy in Warcraft too.
And some of the good guys too.
And some of the good guys too.
That's what I was implying. [editline]16th November 2014[/editline] This has nothing to do with Overwatch though. Game looks fun.
I really hope they don't go for completely new skins for the classes. Slight differences to the color schema/skill color schema(like warlock fire turning green in WoW), or minor clothes/accessory differences would be great. But I just don't see this game as being a "skin change' type of game.

Mercy probably could get a Starcraft Medic skin too.
I don't mind total skin changes, actually I prefer them to colour changes, like seriously, changing colours of a texture is not worth a penny ...
One of the early Dota 2 cosmetics was a pair of gauntlets that were literally the same as the base ones but had a single red stripe across them.

Skins might even come with new voices and stuff. Actually playing as Nova in an FPS has been a wet dream for me since the announcement and failure of Starcraft Ghost
I still find Tracers voice unbareable. I watched the trailer again with my other half to show them and they agreed that Tracers voice is is unbelievably cockney that it's just too fake.
I still find Tracers voice unbareable. I watched the trailer again with my other half to show them and they agreed that Tracers voice is is unbelievably cockney that it's just too fake.
maybe thats the kind of reaction they are going for?
maybe thats the kind of reaction they are going for?
Thats completely fine, i'm sure it is intentional. I just don't understand peoples love for her voice and i've seen so many people wondering why its so good. and surprise surprise, all of the people that like it are not from england haha. Is this really how you all think we brits sound?
No but it's not grinding my ears either. Tracer versus every Russian character ever. Now that's hardcore when you're slavic yourself.

Edit: Then again, native English speakers seem to pay huge attention to smallest differences in dialects/accents, and I don't usually can't even tell American english from British, unless it's over the top Texan or whatever the " 'ullo guvnah" is called. For example nothing in Downton Abbey makes me think of their accents and I guess they're as British as it gets.
No. What do British people think Americans sound like?
I've never been but in my head you have about 4 different accents. Southern, Northern, Incredibly fake sounding and then "just american". But i watch a lot of youtube videos with americans in and they are americans from all over. Like Achievement Hunter for example, most are from TX there but you've got a brit there, someone from New Jersey and a few others from all over and they all sound a little different. But you never really see much different on TV with brits, you only see Cockney, Chavvy or Posh lol.
