Overwatch - The world needs heroes, and Blizzard needs a TF2 game!

I wonder how many people are excited for Overwatch because they feel like its a good shooter, and how many people are excited for it because their Blizzard fans. Genuinely curious, game looks fun but I'm not sure where the hype for it can be placed.

Overwatch is fun. I want to play it.
I love Blizzard games but the fact that it's a Blizzard game is more of a side point.

I can't speak for everyone of course, but I'm hyped because it's genuinely fun from what I've played and is pretty much the kind of shooter I've wanted since TF2 stopped being fun in my eyes.
And I certainly I wouldn't consider myself a Blizzard fan considering:
- I've never played Warcraft 1 or 2
- I've only ever had WoW sub for 3 months
- I've never played Diablo 1 or 2
- Wasn't a big fan of Diablo 3
- I never played Starcraft 1 or any of it's expansions
- Never played SC2's multiplayer or Legacy of the Void
- Never played Hearthstone
- Got bored of Heroes of the Storm because MOBAs aren't really my thing
Overwatch is just genuinely good IMO :v:
I still find it a bit odd that the only character from the original team not returning is that Sniper woman

It's a fun game, I'm excited to play a fun game, it's nothing special, and it's probably not going to replace anything for me.

It starts in about 6 hours and 16 minutes from now, which'll be the 3rd in most of Europe.

Does my friend need to have overwatch pre-ordered to use the extra beta key? I want to give it to my friend so he can play with me but he hasn't pre-ordered it.

A person in my com tech class a little while ago gave me his extra key and I don't have the game pre-ordered.
So yea I had to contact support, they gave me my keys immediately. Nobody knew why emails never arrived.

Overwatch bands together again because the world is in chaos and needs help. So the members of Overwatch help the world by...fighting each other? Am I missing something or am I just dumb? Why would Overwatch reassemble just to kill each other?

TF2 situation.
Gameplay has very little to do with story besides of some special voice lines.
People are getting extra early access keys?

Well I mean TF2 was kind of explained with the whole Redmond and Blutarch thing.
Maybe we'll get an explanation sometime down the road, just like TF2 did.

I've never liked anything Blizzard's made, but I'm pretty damn excited for Overwatch.

They still need to settle a bunch of petty workplace grudges before getting down to business, like Winston leaving banana skins and empty peanut butter jars everywhere.

We'll probably get "Doomfist" who may end up being a villain. There's been a lot of references to him. Although "Doomfist" is a title, and not all "Doomfists" have been evil. But I hope he will be. I want more villains too.
Also you can kinda count Junkrat and Roadhog as "villains". Maybe Symmetra too in a more morally grey antagonist sorta way.
So uh, Blizzard decided to send me a beta code and a spare[I] the day after[/I] a friend gave me their spare.

So now I have one spare beta key (gave the first to a friend), first 10 people to rate wrenches will be put into a raffle for it. I'll show the results once I get back from class.

Excited for it because TF2 is dead to me. I have zero investment in Blizzard, but a lot of my ex-TF2 friends who played the closed beta said rather positive things about Overwatch, so I'm hyped.
