Overwatch - The world needs heroes, and Blizzard needs a TF2 game!
Engineer who upgrades his turrets and can get a boost when they're destroyed.
Highly mobile, annoying character.
Medic has a medibeam.
Soldier uses rockets with a focus on staying airborne.
Engineer who can set up small turrets and teleporters.
Similar Pixar-like art style.
The comparisons are valid, and it's not an insult. Personally I think the abilities could make it more interesting than TF2, Tracer looks like she'll be really fun to play as.
TF2 has such good class design that people taking cues from it is not surprising, I don't think I ever saw a heal beam before TF2 did it after I saw a bunch of games copy it.
Welp, Blizzard once again proves that they are unable to come up with their own original game ideas without ripping off tabletop games.
Super intelligent battle gorillas aren't a new idea, although the design is weirdly similar I'll give you that.
Anyway this looks cool but I wonder if a competition will develop between this and that Gearbox FPS MOBA with a similar art style.
That isn't really the case for the PC market though. TF2 has almost always been more of a dominating force than CoD, not sure at all about Battlefield though. I mean a new CoD just came out like a week ago right? TF2, CS:GO, and even CS is currently beating it. It's not even on the top 10 right now.
For the most part CS and TF2 heavily dominate the PC market. After TF2 went F2P you could not sell a new FPS on the PC, it just did not happen. Combine that with the huge popularity and abundance of F2P in multiplayer games these days and I really cannot see this game being B2P.
I really do not think that is the case. TF2 is popular, but it's not so popular that there is no room for other FPS'. I agree it'll be free to play.

Not to mention TF2 is what 8 years old almost?

It came out 7 years ago.
Jeez I feel old.

Yeesh, I remember back when the only guy with other weapons was the medic and was wondering how the heck they would implement an inventory system.
Anywho, the game has clear parallels to TF2, considering the engineer dude hits his turret to upgrade it, it getting twin barrels at level 2 and a quad rocket launcher on top at level 3...
The Egyptian maps don't help either.
I assume they are all just paying Homage because tf2 pretty much redefined the class based shooter, formed the base upon which all other class based shooters shall be judged.
I look forward to seeing what becomes of the game. Looks fun.
Tracer is love

One of these days i'll get my TF2 and my Overwatch TV shows.
One fucking day.

It's spelled Avatar Aang. Also Grodd and Sith would be better comparisons for the gorilla and the dark wizard. Rest of it is great though.

That's the furthest they'll go.
Can someone explain to me what the fuck the monk does
Support class. Casts orbs that heal and decrease damage taken.
He hovers around and shit too, like he thinks he's better than you.
Can you not mention TF2 in the title?
Not every team-based class-based FPS is a TF2 ripoff.
yeah some older class-based first person shooters are actually TF1 ripoffs
Game looks fantastic. Shame everyone seems to be jumping to calling it a TF2 ripoff.
So far Tracer, Torbjorn and Reinhardt seem like my kind of characters.
Yep, consider my interest piqued. If Blizzard can pull this off and keep it popular in the face of Valve's titles, that'd be awesome.
Even if it doesn't I'll probably still keep on playing it, so long as the mechanics hold up.
At any rate, I'd say the game barely resembles TF2 anyway.
TF2 barely resembles TF2 anymore.
I love it, and I'm so glad it didn't turn into another MOBA, which it can seem like one from the cinematic trailer. I am so tired of big name companies jumping into the MOBA cesspool, this seems like one of the only current Blizard games I'm actually interested in.
Most of the classes look a hell of a lot more interesting than TF2 classes, and I love TF2.

Command and Conquer Renegade had a healing beam of that sort, except it didn't bend, it just locked your screen onto the guy you were healing.
Oh man, it just occurred to me, if they're going full Dota style, they'll end up having dozens upon dozens of characters.
Fucking awesome.
I think I'm going to stay away from this one as it seems to be a bit too much on the MOBA side (what with the crazy boosts of OPness every character seems to be capable of, the numerous heroes system etc.), but I really like how they're showing actual gameplay, lots of it. Makes the game much easier to judge. Bethesda should take a clue with their cartoony multiplayer "shooter" (quotes because the game has no firearms in it).
IMO this game looks like Blizzard took every contemporary trend in video games and just mashed them together
not too excited

No.

This is the furthest they'll go. Expiration Date was apparently meant to be the first episode of a TF2 TV series. At this point though it seems unlikely they'd go further.
IMO this game looks like Blizzard took every contemporary trend in video games and just mashed them together
Yup. Not that theres anything wrong with that. If the game is good, it'll be good.

You're acting like they've ever done anything else but that.
Not that it's a bad thing though, this looks fun, tracers blink and time reversal(?) looks really fun.

Ok so he's the lovechild of a medic and someone who likes throwing balls
Seems the maps will have destructable props. I like that a lot
