Overwatch - The world needs heroes, and Blizzard needs a TF2 game!

I've Always been very hyped for blizzcon, but not this year. I fear a shitty Movie, shitty wow exp that seems good on paper but will suck, a lot of overwatch info that we already knew and diablo 3 season WITH NEW LEGENDARIES!
Actually my idea would work better because Asian celebrities haven't played the game yet!
If they want constant interest and publicity they will come to Asia sooner!
They have already come to Asia from what I've seen. Day 1 there was several Asian streams. Though I couldn't tell you where from Asia they heralded from, as I don't speak moonrunes. If you're lucky you might still see one playing on Twitch but it seems they have all left.
All this time staring at my email and battle.net... wasted.
You know, they haven't been sending them out this whole time. They announce when a new wave is finished and they only sent out like, 3 or 4 waves.

Each time there is a wave of beta flagging I check my account and hear this:

Imagine how much money they would make if they made buying a blizzcon ticket give you access.
it's hardly a beta. getting tired of devs calling shit like this a beta when it's obviously just a way to create hype

How is it not a beta? It sure as hell isn't an alpha or a prototype, what else would it be?
I don't see how it's not a beta. They're looking for concentrated feedback from people who are willing to give it.
It's a beta that's at the very end of being a beta how about that?

this is why blizzard hasn't technically started the beta yet.
i got a key but i have no interest in the game at all, i think I signed up for it ages ago but i don't even remember the password to by battlenet anymore

lol i got in to the beta and i dont even care about it. played it for 10 minutes before i got bored

And then open beta comes out, and all the big streamers already got tired of it and won't play.
That version of the Sound of Silence sounds off. Did they change the pitch or is it a different version?
if overwatch if free2piss how will they generate revenue from the game? in the earliest betas for hearthstone and HotS you could buy card packs and heroes to help test the store (you even got rewarded for doing so), but overwatch doesn't have a store at all.

it's not a beta because people are buttmad they didn't get in, so naturally it's not a beta apparently

Not yet. I guarantee they'll sell things like skins, emotes, sprays, etc.

Not yet, obviously.
Overwatch will fail if they go with the Smite/League model. A huge part of Overwatch is the ability to switch on the fly to counter people. If you only have access to ~4 characters while the whole enemy team has all of the characters, that's just asasine.
They will probably just have cosmetics, voice packs, and custom sprays.
They could probably get away with doing it Killer Instinct style at the most. Pay for a "Season" of characters at a time.

don't forget that hots/league have free week heroes though. i'm really hoping they go for free heroes but i could easily see them going for that instead

Yeah but rotations aren't enough for this game. They would just be shooting themselves in the foot if they did anything like a Smite/LoL model.
At most, they would do a "pay once" model with all characters available for free. But even then, when we're talking about a multiplayer team-based FPS, you want as many people playing as possible. Free to play is the way to go.

I don't have the source they used, but in the last Co-optional they said that a developer once stated that whatever the model is, you will always have all characters unlocked. You can take that with a grain of salt, but I think it's the only logical way a "TF2- ike multiple characters" game could operate because it allows for switching on the fly.
If they want ranked matchmaking that won't be filled to the brim with hackers it will probably be $15 with microtransactions aka CSGO route
Would also be a good route to go if they decide to put it on consoles

That's where I got my info from coincidentally, so yeah.

Jesse is pretty trustworthy on that kind of thing, he's very good friends with Blizzard.

$15 did diddly squat to stop hacking in csgo
And seriously this game better do like valve with tf2 and dota2
All the heros unlocked, if you lock or restrict heros then you limit a players ability to counter pick and this limits the strategies available to you that is why I abhor league with it's limited/locked hero pool
And furthermore then you have to create a separate mode for competitive where all the heros are unlocked
Just unlock the hero pool and support the game with cosmetics
They could also sell maps/game modes.
They could also sell maps/game modes.
I don't think Blizzard is that braindead.

A $15 would stop people who'd only use publicly-available free hacks; unless Blizzard's programming department goes AFK those will be the first hacks to be taken care of anyway.

Why would it have to cost money on a console? Consoles have f2p games.
