$15 did diddly squat to stop hacking in csgo
Honestly this is due to steam's refund policy. Buy the game, hack for a few hours, get banned, refund.
I don't think Blizzard is that braindead.
Blizzard might not be braindead, but Activision (their owners) is. Activision wants the dosh, they might implement the same DLC crap as in previous CoD series.

Blizzard has a high degree of autonomy and it's own leadership anyways.
Dota 2 shows how Free2Play is done correctly, so I hope they look at its system.
How does Dota 2 do free to play exactly? I couldn't be any more disinterested in mobas so I wouldn't know.

Except cosmetics (that include skins, voice, weather... all those useless aesthetics + ego shit) They make most of their money off cosmetics, market and tournament tickets.

I defer all future comments to this post. Stop kidding yourselves, Activision will meddle, if etc franchise brings dah cash, and Overwatch has gained some good hype. The monetization method is still unknown, this is where Activision might get involved pretty much.

Gotcha.
Now you have to invite me, Blizzard!
Ah, so it's comparable to Warframe but more limited? Gotcha.
not really? warframe makes you grind or pay for content. dota 2 literally has everything unlocked for you except cosmetics.
not really? warframe makes you grind or pay for content. dota 2 literally has everything unlocked for you except cosmetics.
grinding is a game mechanic in warframe, without grinding there wouldn't be much reason to play. and it's not really paying for vaguely 'content', it's like 99% cosmetics and 1% quality of life things that have no impact on the actual gameplay. everything else you can obtain for free. [editline]5th November 2015[/editline] but that's mostly beside the point; from a monetary standpoint dota 2 and warframe are nearly identical.
Still not flagged, I'm just going to try ask nicely on twitter
tell blizzard your subscribers would love to see you play.
tell blizzard your subscribers would love to see you play.
It worked for this guy
Dota 2 shows how Free2Play is done correctly, so I hope they look at its system.
I wouldn't call "ads shoved on your face at every turn" something done correctly, but they do keep most of the gameplay free. I'm honestly hoping they won't do that, having pop ups that force you to close them before doing anything else every time you launch the game gets old after a bit.
Most? All of the gameplay is free. The only thing with pricetags are cosmetics and certain tournaments. I do hate all the forcefed ads though
Most? All of the gameplay is free. The only thing with pricetags are cosmetics and certain tournaments. I do hate all the forcefed ads though
I was refering to timed things like exclusive queues, and other things from compendiums and so. If I was talking about the game itself being cut into pieces and sold separatedly I would have obviously said that. There is no need to get offended and bothered, nor defensive about anything.
Afaik there is no such thing as "exclusive queues" and everything from the compendium is cosmetic.
Did you already forget about the queues they made for the "recreate pro matches" thing? I can't really blame you on that, if my memory doesn't fail me most people didn't care much about it either. Then you have things like the missions for paid events like the Paradox arcana one, though you can argue about that type since it isn't part of the main gameplay, but just some tasks and objective to do while playing to get rewards. But that wasn't the point, the point was the whole shameless in game advertisement which you even agreed on. Again, there is no need to get upset over things like this, its not like anyone made any baseless claims or anything (and even then it wouldn't be worth getting all worked up over, specially when its off topic).
http://kotaku.com/looks-like-overwatch-is-coming-to-consoles-1740763937 Welp. 60 dollars on consoles. Not looking good.
kotaku's source is a guy from a new york gamestop that said they're taking pre-orders.
We spoke with a local store that indicates it received an email from the corporation indicating that the game will be full-priced on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. All versions are listed at $59.99, with a placeholder date of December 31, 2016.
again, sources. no point in posting this information if blizzard hasn't even announced it themselves at blizzcon yet.
Hope it's true, to be honest. I'd rather pay that much one off and have all the classes unlocked, rather than eventually paying more or fucking grinding to unlock them all.
again, sources. no point in posting this information if blizzard hasn't even announced it themselves at blizzcon yet.
I doubt they would be gearing up for a pre-order campaign if it wasn't a full retail price. It would probably be more of a digital thing if it was in the $20 range. Sure, the entire game could suddenly come out of beta tomorrow free for everyone, but Blizzcon is right here and it's being streamed on Xbox. It stands to reason that if it is a fully priced game coming for consoles, that these retailers would be receiving information about it, right?
$60 could just be a placeholder price, since it's the average price a game launches at these days. One one hand, the game seems like it'd be better as a relatively cheap title, on the other hand, this is Blizzard we're talking about, so who knows?
Hope it's true, to be honest. I'd rather pay that much one off and have all the classes unlocked, rather than eventually paying more or fucking grinding to unlock them all.
No matter the business model all heroes will be unlocked always, it's just a question of $60 with unlockable cosmetics, or free/cheap with microtransaction cosmetics. I'm fine either way to be honest, if I can get as much time out of Overwatch as I did TF2 then $60 is a bargain for potentially thousands of hours of gameplay. Although I feel like the CSGO model of cheap game like $15 with microtransactions only for cosmetics is the best way to go.

Most recent game in that range was Rare Replay, and it definitely didn't seem like Gamestop was pushing for that much.
Hope it's true, to be honest. Guess it makes a little more sense on consoles, where you have Titanfall or Evolve, along with Blizz's rabid fanbase, but even then it's still probably going to be a big ask.
